Pillars of Eternity

I don't have the money to buy the new Divinity but I got this on my steam library from a bundle. Is it a decent substitute? I heard it's shit.

It's very flawed but much better than any Divinity game
Ignore the golden plated NPCs, they're backers with their donut steel story
Don't play on POTD, it's a meme difficulty that bloats stats
Enjoy

If you like isometric games you will like Pillars.

If I didn't like DivOS2 because of the shitty questing and how every dialogue interaction has ONE (1) opportunity to avoid combat, the fuck awful plot and the shitty classes, will I like PoE?

Which class are you gonna be for PoE 2?

Beastmaster sounds cool

I'm thinking about going Transcendent. Sounds ridiculous.

The questing in Pillars of Eternity is better, however, it's much harder to avoid combat in there and it's filled with trash mobs. Doesn't sound like it will be to your taste, mate.

>monk / wizard
>sage

Can I play as Naruto in this game?

Fuck multiclassing. Gonna go max Wizard.

Sounds better than Div by a huge margin desu

Oh, it is. Better characters, writing, setting and atmosphere. Combat is RTwP instead of turn based, so that's more an issue of personal taste. There's no *boops your nose* in PoE, though.

I disliked divinity because it offers so much "freedom" but what they actually mean is play the way the devs intended or prepare to spam quicksave/load until you trial and error your way through every encounter. I'd much rather it be upfront non stop combat with the occasional peaceful resolution than larian's bullshit
>oh you didn't pick that flower/piece of rope/potion from the side of the road 20 minutes ago? i'm aggroed on to you now hope you quicksaved :^)

Pillars of Eternity's inventory system feels like heaven after you deal with Divinity's bullshit

Liberator, of course.

multiclassing is max gay
i need max level wizard powers.

I loved Pillars of Eternity. Dumped 100 hours into it over the span of a week in the dark at the end of winter. My eyesight went to shit, but it was worth it.

>Based Tier
Hylea > Abydon

>Cool Tier
Berath > Wael

>Bad Tier
Galawain > Eothas > Magran > Ondra

>God Awful Tier
Woedica > Skaen > Rymrgand

My man

Just pirate it.

Don't waste bandwidth on Divinity

>2017
>paying for bandwidth

>Wildrhymer
What?

White March was made to play through the winter

>want to replay the white march
>have to slog through some 20 hours of base game content to get there
this is true hell

My favorite class, Seer, is under Cipher+Ranger? I get Cipher, but not ranger. Should've been a casting class, since they have ties to priest magic.

chanters any good?

Gonna continue with my druid, not sure which subclass though

Yes, pretty boring to play though

They can let you pass just fine, with a party you'll feel almost the least contributing at times - you'll feel a bit valuable in boss fights. If interested, this is a glitch that lets you cast and invocation how ever many times you want in a single cast - including summons so you can have say 4 several phantoms at once. All it requires is 1 athletics for second wind. youtube.com/watch?v=O_cdtuL_Gp4

Inquisitor or Mindstalker. Although don't you have to play certain ways as a paladin?

>tfw no Hylea priest
Sounds like a really good ethos under a priest to follow. Wael is pretty cool I guess, Priest of dreams.

How fun is this compared to Div

Nah, only dialogue. Even that isn't too much of a deal breaker if you don't follow your alignment.

Play it on Story Mode, rush through it and then change difficulties to Hard.

I dropped this game 5 minutes after finding Edér and learning he's not romanceable. Screw this emotional rollercoaster.

Is this what the classes are actually gonna be called or is it fan-made?

2nd game coming out has you covered, f@m.

...

>want to replay the white march
But why?

Well, every Paladin Order in 2 has some minor mechanical restriction, and you can't go orderless. For instance, Kind Wayfarers have an "Anti Sneak Attack" that causes them to do less damage to those who are vlnerable to sneak attacks.

It's only gay if you want it up your butt not if you want to stick it up Edér's.

Thanks user.

Doesn't make much sense, but it sounds cool. Maybe it's because Seers are supposed to see far? Ranger?

What is the most fun class? I played 2 hours as paladin and didn't like it much.

Who you gonna romance in 2?

I want to fuck Kana's sister Maia..

Not as good a combat system (although it is much faster), better everything else

I'm less than 2 hours in and I keep dying in that fucking temple with Eder and the bipolar elf. I went through BG I and II just fine. What the fuck is this?

I'm too intelligent for Divinity's combat. Sounds like PoE is my cup of tea.

It's official. We helped with a few of those names, too by giving suggestions to Sawyer.

Haven't played PoE, but Crusader sounds fucking dope

Seers have highly intense visions during critical times that cause them to have premonitions during combat. In my opinion it would make more sense in THIS game if it were a Cipher and Priest of Wael.
I don't deny how you got to your conclusion though - Obsidian might actually not get the true essence of a Seer.

I know it's too much to ask for but, will some of these classes have unique features separating themselves from others?
For example a Cleric heals with holy/prayer magic whereas a Shaman heals with nature magic?

They're just name for multiclass user

It would depend on if you chose Priest healing spells or Druid healing spells when leveling up. Of course they're changing the magic system so we'll have to wait and see to know for sure.

Oh, okay.
Thanks.

If you played BG1/2 then you should know you don't start out strong enough to take on the entire world.

I can really only see priest for any class I take - due to minor avatar+aggrandizing radiance to boost might up +10 every time i'm in combat. Rogue+Priest might be devastating as hell and I can see it rivaling pure casters in terms of damage.

because ice is nice

Which game is better again?

Are you new to the game by any chance? That game is a newbie deathtrap because it has enemies that don't attack you through normal means - meaning you can't tank unless you know in which way the enemy is attacking you like through will or deflection. Come back when you know the mechanics better/have better equipment - you're not missing really too much anyway there.
By the way for spirits, buff Aloth's accuracy and use his fan of flames - it should insta-kill.

The one that doesn't break apart on all corners

>That game is a newbie deathtrap
you sure? not that guy, but i literally started this game today and got through the dungeon pretty easily on normal. I got wiped and had to reload a few times, but it never felt like i wasn't ready for anything in there

White March is great, mate. Very comfy and exceedingly good on part 2. I'm thinking of replaying it myself come December.

Already got bored of Divinity in Driftwood. Completed PoE twice despite not really liking it either...
so, I guess in the end PoE wins? idk

PoE
>can play as a shapeshifter
Divinity
>can't play as a shapeshifter

PoE wins by default

Anyone else having trouble with restarting? I can't fucking stop.

Hopefully, they give out some cool bonuses to Paladin for each of those orders. Makes it seem like Paladins are weak subclasses compared to every other class.

I do as well. I have terrible restartitis with pretty much every RPG.

>shifting with avenging storm and champion's boon

Monk if you want to go melee. Cipher if you want to go ranged.

Divinity literally lets you turn yourself into a spider to scare shopkeepers away and rob them, a frog to run fast as fuck across the map, and more...in the first game

Original Sin 2 has polymorphing though, you can grow weird animal parts and slap your enemies into chickens

What are you looking for in a build, my man? It's meant to be a party type of game. Is there something specific you want out of a class?

i consider poe to be a really shitty game yet i dropped divos2 15 hours in
armour is some josh sawyer-tier balance autism, inventory system feels like shit and they really needed to take clues from how poe organized inventory sorting and storage, plus level-dependent loot with awfully strong level scaling is some of the dumbest, shittiest decisions i can think about

Warden, so I can be just like my waifu Jaheira

Are you going to send the darkspawn back?

So I'm about to pirate PoE but got a little confused with the white march thing. Do I just jump straight into it or the base game first?

When the white march is in your game you just play through the main game until you get to act 2, then you can go anyway including the dlc.

>anyway
Anyway, I meant anywhere.

>Filled with trash mobs

This has not been true for like 2 years. They removed over half of the mobs in each map and it's far more entertaining.

Making the expansion take place in the middle of the game was pretty dumb desu

Back off. She's mine.

Man I wouldn't want to play an older version because the current one has enough trash mob to compete with your average jrpg

I don't even like the combat but I didn't think the amount of trash mobs was terribly awful. I also prefer stealth gaming, so I just snuck around stuff too so there's that.

You should come back to that area later when you get a full party, or at the very least Edér + Aloth.

I'm pretty sure there's not even 100 hours in a week.

I already claimed her m8. Go fuck Pallegina or Xoti.

woah a skyrim

Pillars of Eternity. Divinity: Original Sin gets boring real fast.

Holy shit. My sides.

Divinity
>Can't fuck shit up with unarmed builds

PoE
>Can fuck shit up with unarmed builds

That's why PoE wins

If only we had a way to check

I might try out Monk/Druid. I'm not a fan of the name but I had a lot of fun playing a pretend Monk/Druid in PoE. I used staves/spears (Greenstone and Tall Grass of course) and armor/equipment that let you cast Druid spells or were cast on hit/critical hit. I feel like a true Monk/Druid would have a lot of synergy with Druid's debuffs.

Who here Kidnapped the Orlando baby? I kept it with me till the end of the game.

It better not Fucking dead at the start of 2. All Sawyer has said about it is there will be consequences.

Act 1 is pretty damn cozy, so I can see why.

Sounds good, I did a pseudo-monk build too with priest. It was fun in a way with minor avatar, I think wizard would've worked better for more tanking ability.

It's still a bit filled with trash mobs, in my opinion. Not as much as it used to be, but still a bit too much for my taste.

GET HYPE GUYS ITS A WWWWWIIIIIIIIIIIIZZZAAAAAAAARRDDDDD BATTLE!!!!!!

Why didn't you sell it?

Believe you me!
