>hot new multiplayer game comes out >everyone is enjoying it >developers are making a ton of profit >"let's make some updates to add more content!" >whatcouldpossiblygowrong.jpg >first update comes out >it's pretty great >second update comes out >it's pretty good >third update comes out >it's alright >skip a few updates later >game is now a complete pile of shit and is a former shell of itself >nearly all of the playerbase is gone >developers barley making any money off the game anymore and are hanging on a thin piece of string >franchise is now doomed to fail
Why does this always fucking happen with every multiplayer game? When will developers learn what the community actually wants instead of trying something new every update? The reason people love your game in the first place is because of how cool, fun, and unique it is. Sure, it's great to add more content, but stop trying to change the game with every update. It will eventually become something totally different, and because of that, people will leave. They played your game because of what it was before you changed it. Just keep it that fucking way and you'll keep your community. Pic unrelated.
Jeremiah Davis
I worded the last part a bit weird. By me saying "it's great to add content, but stop trying to change the game" I mean it's great to add new weapons, maps, charecters, and a machanic here and there. Not change the game in terms of gameplay, gunplay, graphics, or anything else that would change the original "feel" of the game.

Is this the overwatch thread?
William Miller
yes
Alexander Bell
No, this is the GM BTFO thread. How can murrikans even compete?
Jonathan Miller
siege?
Robert Reed
too many companies do this, why fuck with something that works?
Ayden Wood
tfw no MR2

It's for money reasons 99% of the time. They want to drive sales of either the game itself or addon packs. People playing and enjoying the game isn't making them money by itself so they try to do stuff and inevitably fuck everything up.
Anthony Brown
Theres always an issue with companies "listening to the community" or filtering ideas through focus testing groups. More often than not the people who voice their opinions to devs are people who aren't really serious players, they're not very experienced, and they want everything tailored specifically to them. If you end up listening to a group of whiners you'll only get burned as they can never be satisfied. As a developer its a massive pitfall and its one everyone seemingly steps into today.
Caleb Roberts
Worst thing is developers not playing their own game to fully understand the problems and things that should/need to be fixed, changed or added.

There's only ever been one Corvette that's good.
Evan Brooks
>Why does this always fucking happen with every multiplayer game?
Because the lead developers move on to other projects leaving the 'update crew' or cheaper third party.
Brody Hall
>Not change the game in terms of gameplay, gunplay, graphics, or anything else that would change the original "feel" of the game. Because you don't see the sales, you assume. What they see is sale numbers dropping fast so they want to mix it up in hope of raising their numbers because if they don't do something soon, the numbers will drop low enough that the game dies anyways. "Nooo" the players always say, "it has a huge fan base, they buy lots of stuff" they say from their side. Meanwhile the devolpers see they lost 50% of the players in a year and are still on a decline with only the same 10% of players buying anything. That 10% is so loyal at this point they can't be scared away. So they have either do these big game changing patches or stop updating the game at all.
Ayden Murphy
This. Ubishit is the worst in doing this, they don't give a shit what you think after you already bought the game for $60.
Owen Cox
The term is called ''Jumping the shark''.

The only Corvette ever close to good is the current one, and even then its still a rickety GM vehicle that'll rattle apart before 100,000miles. In typical GM fashion its full of monstrous design decisions.
Eleven intercoolers. Eleven. And they first lot still was overheating and shutting down.
Joseph King
>The only Corvette ever close to good is the current one The one they're getting sued over because it's so awful? No that isn't it.
Isaac Reed
>3.6sec 0-60 >MR suspension >the best handling GM vehicle ever produced Yes, the current one. It is the best Corvette ever.
Brody Evans
2.95* 3.6 or 3.7 is one of the base models
Evan Brooks
That overheats so frequently that it produces lawsuits instead of heat.
Samuel Howard
I'm well aware of that, I addressed that explicitly. Its still the fastest and best handling Corvette ever. It competes with modern super cars when it stays running. Thats the best that GM could manage.
