Sup Forums says upcoming game will be shit

>Sup Forums says upcoming game will be shit
>it comes out
>it's actually fucking great

Metacritic dropped to 87

When was Sup Forums right about anything regarding Nintendo?

Oh no
I hate Metroid now

Samus Returns was a good game. I liked Zero Mission more though.

>I hate game journalists and critics!
>b-b-but look at this metacritic score this is a valid way to judge every game!

Great is a strong word. It was decent.

...

nu-Sup Forums is overall shit at telling what is good and what is not eve since Tor. Now they want every game to turn out like it just for kicks

When was Sup Forums ever right?

Apologize.

wtf i hate metacritic now

That oddly makes it one of the lower-rated Metroid games, which I think goes to show how strong the series is.

It's rated lower than Fusion, Prime 2, and Prime 3 and I personally think it's better than those.

It's not complete shit, but it's definitely mediocre at best. None of the shoehorned content improves the game in any way, and nothing was done to address the linearity of the original game's design. In all seriousness, I would rather just play my old Metroid II cartridge and forget this remake exists.

Doesn't take much to be better than Prime 2 when they gate an entire fetch quest behind the last suit upgrade in the game.

Super and ZM > all though.

Prime 2 is the best Metroid game.

Why do people keep shilling this?

It mostly started after this image was released a month or so ago.

Not a lot of people were calling this shit.

Most of it was just apprehensive caution, which made sense given the climate (the developer being MercurySteam and Metroid's lackluster direction in the years since Metroid Prime 3).

Because Prime 2 is gud

Maybe because it's one of the best fucking Metroids you retard.

why is zero mission rated so high?

Welcome newfag, but this shit has been going on since the now RIP Prime threads for years.

1:1 remake of a metroid game that had better art style

Is this a troll picture? I legitimately can't tell.

...

>Sup Forums
>ever right
You see, that was your first mistake.

>Game manages to not be a complete disaster like Other M or Federation Force
>Think it's great
It isn't great. Don't lower your standards just because they managed to not fuck up.

What a surprise it's shit as fucking usual.

Most Metroid games are good and all the Prime games are great. This still hasn't answered my question.
People have been saying Prime 2 is the best since before this was released.

>GamingBrit

I thought Prime 3 was his favorite.

Okay then how about this
People like all the strong points of prime 2 and think they add up to make a more enjoyable experience than other metroid games, and as such speak of it as their favorite.

>Non linear design
>Tightest controls of the series
>Low % on Hard is fun and challenging
>High replayabiltiy for all the aforementioned reasons
Zero Mission is a 10/10 and the second best remake behind REmake.

but this is what Final Fantasy and Resident Evil fans have been doing for a decade and it's worked out OK for them ...right?

This dude is probably the worst youtube video game """critic" of them all.

Also, surprised to see so much Nintendo shit here. I thogutn he wasn't very fond of Nintendo.

I understand the concept of something being someone's favourite, I just don't know why Prime 2 seems to be so many people's favourite.

is it better than Super or Prime tho

I wouldn't say it's better than Super since while the map design itself is top notch it doesn't have the same scope as Super, I do prefer it to Prime though since it's not as restrictive and has much better movement, like I said ZM has the best movement of all the games easily.

Because dark aether plus the deteriorated state of aether, the abundance of bosses and higher overall challenge when compared to other metroid games make for a more hostile atmosphere than other metroid games and some people like that.
Plus its another metroid game where space pirates take a backseat for another antagonist

>taking stock in mc scores

87 ain't bad, though

That's because no matter how much Mercury Steam changed and improved it overall, the game is still a remake of Metroid 2 aka the worst 2D Metroid going by the general consensus. Critics are not a fan of the Metroid hunt.

too bad the main game is locked behind a plastic toy. it's ok when nintendo does it though.

everything is better than super.

And yet the Dark Commandos are probably some of my favorite space pirates.

lmao

good one

>cant even buy the dlc digitally
holy fuck im mad

It's literally just 2 points lower than Zero Mission, which is a huge fan favorite.

Also, not-so-hottake: The game would've gotten even better scores if it was released on the Switch instead of the 3DS.

So do we know what's different in Fusion Mode?

this would be amazing but no, nintendo says fuck you, and pay XxWeedWizzard420Xxx $50 bucks instead.

I think enemies just hit harder and you have the Fusion Suit. The game itself isn't different.

Is Diggernaut a one hit?

>draygon fight
>exposed electrical current underwater
>doesn't electrify nearby area

nah, shit game. plenty more flaws too.

What does the Fusion Suit do? is it just cosmetic?

lol ok

>doors shut
>fucking space pirate theme starts playing
>mfw

enemies hit 4x harder and halves the energy tank amount a tank gives. it's no joke it's pretty difficult but also fun. i'm still finding out more as i play

most people are already rage quitting on it. it's just way too hard for most people

goddamn this game is fun
first 2d metroid I've played yeah, yeah i know, total pleb but I never got around to the series
I just finished the second level, (4 metroids) what else should I expect?

I agree with it being better than fusion and prime 3 but no way is it better than prime 2

also how the fuck is fusion rated higher than ZM/SR

After SR play ZM -> Super -> Fusion.

You're in for a treat, the game only gets better and better as it goes on.

It's just cosmetic, theoretically, but since enemies are doing ramped up damage over normal mode, you could say it gives you less protection.

>Fusion is bad meme

What do different amiibos unlock?

Zero Suit samus gave me an energy tank really early on

>when you finally get the Screw Attack

There is no better feeling in gaming, lads.

It kinda is. It's not bad as a sidescrolling action game, but it totally fails at being a good Metroid game due to the linearity

it's always late in the games though, wtf

>Fusion is good meme

Sup Forums doesn't actualy play games why would you listen the them.

Metroid releases so sparsely that many of the scores are given with completely different metrics. Kind of like how Mario Kart 8 Deluxe scored higher with some reviewers than the base game just a few years ago.

Reminds me of TPHD with Hero Mode + Ganondorf amiibo, only even more dickish due to half energy tanks.

ZM is a meme.
It's pretty good, but for it to be often placed on par with Prime 1 and even Super sometimes is fucking ridiculous.

Prime 3 sends regards.
It even comes with space jump.

Which one is first hunt for the Ds?

>Prime hunters

>Far better controls
>Non linear
>No garbage fetch quest shoehorned in
ZM is absolutely better than Prime.

Screw Attack trivializes the entire game. I spent the last 2 areas of SR just screw attacking everything and flying to the exit.

>areas and music arent as strong as prime
>that entire last section of the game
Nah senpai, prime is still stronger

>non linear

Prime is non linear, too.
Also, it doesn't make sense to compare the controls of a side-scroller and a FPA. They work fundamentally different.

>that entire last section of the game
You mean the 10 to 15 minute section after the actual game is already finished that is nowhere near as annoying as the hour you spend getting the fucking artifacts?

I thought Samus Returns was really good but the game is inherently flawed since it's a remake of the hella repetitive Metroid 2 where you fight the same enemy 20 times. Though they did really try to differentiate the fights. They did the best they could with the source material.

It's definitely better than fusion where you're stopped every 5 minutes to listen to Adams's dialogue. I feel like a fusion remake would've gotten a considerably lower score.

Sup Forums has become a pessimistic little child towards anything new.
>"but we liked this obscure indie title!"
Fine, anything new and remotely popular.

Prime's item progression is entirely linear unless you resort to exploits.

Yeah you heard me. I'd rather walk all through Tallon lV than do Chozodia and the Space Pirate Mothership.

Which one does Samus Returns fall under?

Are Metroid encounters any different?

Either fedora or patrician. I'd say fedora since it will be the worst selling 2D Metroid and it's based on the black sheep of the franchise.

3:51 just before the final stretch to the final boss. Can I do it?

Why'd it drop?

>Metroid: Samus Returns’ amalgamation of some things old and some things new results in a 2D Metroid game that, while at its most evolved, is caught in somewhat of an identity crisis. There are brief flickers of brilliance showing us what this exploratory new take on the series could have been, but it often finds itself carrying the overbearing weight of being a pseudo-authentic remake.

But Samus Returns isn't good.

This.

>no AM2R
Shit list.

gas this posters

Didn't have time to include an "absoulute trash tier" area.

gas this shill

This sound like it was written by someone who has no reason to dislike something, but dislikes it anyway, and just comes up with a whiny weak excuse to justify his reasoning.

>AM2R
>Bad

>AM2R
>shit
You have absolute shit tier taste if you think AM2R is bad. Its right up there with Super in terms of awesome.

It's basically M2 with ZM controls, terrible hitboxes and shitty AI.

Hey guys, I'm halfway done with Area 3 and I'm dying of boredom. Soundtrack is ass, metroid fights are horrible, enemy rooster is laughable, gameplay is meh. Does the game get better?

Oh boy, it's not worse than the one in SM
