Thanks, Gamefreak.
Helix Fossil
yes
kabutops was my favorite pokemon
Praise helix
>he didn't read those mini-guides that came with Nintendo Power that told you what the fossils did and which pokemon were exclusive to the versions and a bunch of other stuff
By the time you're at Cinnabar, you're already decked out with plenty of strong and useful Pokemon, so the decision doesn't heavily maim you.
Besides, whichever you pick, you can still get Aerodactyl, the coolest Pokemon of Gen 1
Some nerd says he found some fossils and he won't share. sounds fair, but then he challenges you to a battle that he only stands to lose by doing and gives you a fossil you had no claim on after he loses.
You should have taken both. this child is clearly not mentally stable enough to own something of such value.
it's just a fossil you nerd. Neither of you had any idea it was possible to resurrect poke'mon from fossils at the time of their excavation. You were essentially fighting a kid over rocks for fuck sake.
I didn't read those, no.
Reading the manual for the game was so fucking cool though. It had a partial list of Pokemon in the back, with blank pictures for the legendaries and the Pokemon that couldn't be found in your vision, and it was just like... I was looking at a whole world of possibilities. Those mystery Pokemon could have been ANYTHING, I didn't have the internet to go look them all up.
Eventually I got the Prima Games guide because I was 5 years old and I couldn't figure out how to wake up Snorlax.
why fight over them though? that kid found them, they're his.
They were in the way
hay guys i just got pokemon silver what should i pick for a starter?
he challenges you though
fair enough
Fossils don't into the meta, so it doesn't matter.
>the coolest Pokemon of Gen 1
That is not Alakazam
probably the fire one since the first 1/3rd of the game is mainly grass pokemon
any of them and release it as soon as you catch something
What did that kid even do with the other fossil? Use it as a paperweight or something? You guys think he even knows that he can revive a pokemon from extinction with it?
pick chikorita if you enjoy suffering
>ayo spoons
Nah man.
okay then il get a cyndaquil named cinder. il have someone trade me a chikorita later
Tradevolutions are automatically shit for being a dick to acquire. Besides, Gengar is the superior tradevolution.
The actual coolest Pokemon is Eevee
>What did that kid even do with the other fossil?
Probably gave it to Brock.
>helixposters
ebin memeposting fedora manchildren, ironic weebs
>domegods
well-adjusted, fit, sincerely love their anime waifus and would die for them
Why was Gen I/II art so comfy?
Kabuto > Amonitas
Fact.
which fossil do you get in silver?
play it mostly at night to emulate sleepless nights as 12 yearold with a wormlight
>Tradevolutions are automatically shit for being a dick to acquire
Like it or not trading is part of the experience, and back them everybody played the game so finding someone to trade with wasn't that hard
>Gengar is the superior tradevolution.
Lol no, Alakazam is fast and hits like a truck, a staple in many teams, Gengar is more like a fast support unit that wouldn't even be used if it wasn't for hypnosis to save his ass
already done playing this at 11 at night
>wormlight
white and based
Both. I like Kabuto better but Kabutops isn't as cool or cute.
>His parents didn't buy him the strategy guide with all the little stickers for every pokemon
...
>Lol no, Alakazam is fast and hits like a truck, a staple in many teams
But still not the coolest, performance doesn't matter. Even Butterfree is cooler than Alakazam.
Something about the watercolor look.
now play under your bed to emulate hiding from an alcoholic and handsy step father
>Haunter will never look as cool as he did in red/blue
already locked my door to get away from my abusive mother
>muh design
The best pokémon are the ones who look good while also being reliable, a pokémon that looks good but is unreliable drags your team down and becomes the black sheep if the rest of the team is better
I like how he looked on the pokemon cards (the cgi ones)
>tfw I still have a binder covered with those stickers filled with series 1 Pokemon cards
>tfw one of my asshole friends stole all the rare/shiny cards from it over a decade ago when they slept over
you also have to bring at least one shitty cutemon, maybe more
gsc has furret
>Post yfw
ghost types were incredibly reliable in gen1 because of the split
I didn't realize this was supposed to be outside until the remake.
is this a coincidence or are like all like 70% of adult pokemon fans emotionally scarred by abusive parents?
Which one? Because the special split happened in gen 2
Was this truly the golden age of gaymen?
I don't think it was, its not like they couldn't do it back there, I think the remake just changed the location to make things more dramatic
no its just the side effects of parents making terrible decisions early in their lives and abuse the children they spawned because they see a reflection of themselves and wanna make them feel the same horrible pain they did.
>play Blue version
>Red is one of the default names for the rival
>play Gold/Silver
>Red is the canon champion
How'd that motherfucker dethrone me?
Burger hours.
do
do
do
do do do do
I always pictured Red as some serious badass looking guy but he only looks like that because he struggles to express any emotions and he's actually awkward as all fuck and often tries to make jokes that suck because he's so monotone.
I wish Pokemon would go back to a style like the one Gen I/II had. The new style does nothing for me.
The colors, both the art and the GB/C games
this one *spreads ass*
>HOLY SHIT IT'S FUCKING ASH
Exactly what I thought first time I played it
>tfw you'll never be 10 years old fighting supernerds over rocks ever again
The comical yet serious art direction with realistic color palets. New Pokemon shit is just cartoony/anime and vibrant as fuck.
>Pick the Dome Fossil
>Assumed Dome meant D'Omanyte or something like that
>Get Kabuto
WOW THANKS GAMEFREAK
idk I think gen 3 was alright added a lot of pokemon I think the universe needed like seagulls
Kabuto was always cooler anyways
Helix = Spiral Shell = Nautilus
Dome = Horseshoe Crab = Kabuto
I feel like a retarded kid for not realising this back then.
Also Nautilus are awesome fuck your bootleg Scyther.
You beat him, didn't you beat the game?
>Nautilus
his name is Omanyte you fucking asshole
Back when I played I didn't know what those words meant. English as my 2nd language probably had something to do with it
Whichever one I was closest to, which was probably dome.
I never used the fossils.
That or maybe he was hiding something...
Honestly I don't give a fucking shit, I've never used a fossilemon fucking once in any of my playthrough, I always feel like they're too little, too late underpowered shit that come back to life only when I've already had my team set for hours.
Unless you knew of the missigno glitch to get infinite rare candies, are you really going to bother to stop everything just to bring an Omanyte or a Kabuto up to speed? By that point you're probably running a team of better mons in levels of 40s. Kabutops and Omastar aren't that useful, anyway.
I miss Pokemon.
But they look cool user...
Sugimori still used watercolors and the GBC palette was second to none in GSC.
It never went anywhere sadly. But there's too much Legendary jerking off, furrybait and waifus now.
I played as Blue, my rival was Red. But then they made Red the canon champion in Gold/Silver.
>waifus
They've kinda always been there, but its strange how even the most normal of normalfags have warmed up to jizzing over random pokefemales. Used to be everyone just gushed over Misty and Jessica.
Almost everyone on Sup Forums and Sup Forums in general has shitty parents.
>Misty
and bulma (from dragon ball not dbz) were my first childhood faps. Sami replaced misty as soon as advance wars came out though.
I know parent's can be shitty like not supportive or negligent but I'm talking about legit abusive. ffs my step dad choked me until I lost consciousness for leaving the table before I was excused. I get that a lot of people had frictional relationships with their parents but that's not the severity of what I was talking about.
I think what it is, is more often than not kids that tend to be spoilt or given an electronic device rather than actual parental bonding tend to have shitty parents. Mine weren't, they had their moments when they could be assholes but they did love me thank god.
He was trying to kill his rival's offspring. Happens all the time in nature.
Step Parents should be illegal.
My parents were alcoholic drug addicts that would beat the shit out of each other until my mother abandoned my 3 brothers and I then my parents went to prison suprisingly for different things. Had to stay in a group home when I was five where I became severely underweight, only people that gave a fuck were my grandpa and grandpa.
I had that that bipolar relationship with my split parents dad spoils the kids and gives them ridiculous gifts because he only sees them once a year (but does not pay shit in child support) but mom's there all the time and she sees and treats you as a burden more than a child. When I grew up I realized I had equal reason to hate both of them. I'm appalled at how often I see this thing kinda stuff and how invisible it is to mainstream america.
thank your lucky stars you didn't get absorbed into the fostercare system. Not that it's much if any consolation. But it's one less set of dice you had roll
...
What? Isn't this in a cave?
You can fly off Mt Silver
It's not an unlit room
It's outside
see
>but mom's there all the time and she sees and treats you as a burden more than a child.
Seeing this in action now. Its kinda amazing to behold.
I don't like to talk about where I'm from because it comes across as attention whoring. Nippon but issues like that are quite common place here, except the getting devorced part. That doesn't happen. Luckily, like I said my own parents were just a little pissy at times because they were old fashioned but I count my blessings I never had to experience anything like that. Sorry it was that way for you, user.
>not having seen the cards first
>not knowing what a "helix" is
You have only yourself to blame.
This should have been fp
he just gets tired easily
gen 1 kabutops learned zero rock moves and couldn't learn the rock slide TM
PRAISE LORD HELIX
if that retarded didn't milk the twitch thing dry we could still have comfy interesting yearly twitch plays pokemon events.
I picked Dome every time even though I very rarely ever revived it
both sucked but omastar sucked less until gen 4
It got worse
Hypno is way cooler
