>Dark Souls has pointless durability system
>Dark Souls 2 fixes it, makes it matter and a mechanic that you actually engage in
>Dark Souls 3 brings back the same pointless durability system
>Demon Souls has a broken healing system
>Dark Souls completely fixes it
>Dark Souls 2 breaks it again
>Dark Souls has a broken lighting system
>Dark Souls 2 completely fixes it
>Dark Souls 3 breaks it again
DS3's design philosophy was "people didn't like 2 as much as 1, so let's remove all improvements we made!"
>Dark Souls is a good game
>Dark Souls 2 is a bad game
>Dark Souls 3 brings back the same elements that made 1 a good game
>tumblr
because le B team is wrong!!!!! MIYAZAKI IS A GENIUS CAN'T YOU SEE, TIME IS DISTORTED SO ARE RAGDOLLED BODIES!!!!!! FUCK B TEAM!!!!
It's like they based DS3 on the DS codebase and just chucked DS2 in the garbage bin
But thats wrong, I used to try and flip dead hollows off the ledge while waiting for invasions.
the B-team was the A-team after all, and the original Dark Souls was a fluke
Dark Souls 2 was superior to 3 in terms of
>nonlinearity
>build variety
>roll i-frames being more limited
>poise
>power stancing
>invasion
>PvP covenants
>PvP balance
>PvP invasion mechanics in general (hollowed invasions, limited healing, better placement of players, better areas to PvP in, incentivization, sin being an actual meaningful mechanic)
>better thought out stats in general, no retarded trap stats like luck (or resistance in 1)
>better netcode
>no input queueing
>backstab/parry mechanics
meanwhile 2 was worse at
>LOL the elevator goes up???
>fucking lmao look at these shitty trees in this area you aren't supposed to access
>why are there too many enemies in this area? B-TEAM!!!!
>muh lore
only a true simpleminded pleb would say 3 is better than 2. 2 was even better than 1 in a lot of regards, although 1 is still number one simply due to how well it did the things it did right
>Dark Souls 1 is a great singleplayer game
>Dark Souls 2 is a great overall game
>Dark Souls 3 is a shitty overall game
>Dark Souls 1 has a shit second half
>Dark Souls 2 has a great second half
>Dark Souls 3 has shit DLC
What did they mean by this
>Dark Souls 1 is a great game
>Dark Souls 2 is a great sequel
>Dark Souls 3 is shit
What did they mean by this?
This is literally what happened. There are references to DaS1 items and gestures in DaS3 that you can enable with CE. Also some DaS1-specific bugs, such as dodging through bleed and the dragon head stone dupe, return in DaS3.
Bloodborne was a worse offender in this regard. Weapons don't automatically repair so it's just "LOL your weapon does zero damage until you go back to the hub". There's not even a cool blacksmith character, you just do it yourself by touching a desk.
And then you get to deep chalices and have to make hard decisions like
>+25% damage
vs
>+25.1% damage, but your weapon breaks 10 times faster
Because ragdolls are fun and should be in more games
>dog enemies ragdolls at 10 frames per second
I dont know what its wrong with any dog enemy in From games
Hilarious! Copied to my copypasta txt.
>Dark Souls 2 is a great sequel
Good one.
das1 is a great game
das3 is a good sequel
das2 is a good standalone game tangentially related to the first
>Dark Souls 3 has shit DLC
Ashes of Ariandel sucked but Ringed City was based as fuck
more like +13% damage uncursed vs +25.1% damage cursed with your weapon breaking 6 times faster. If you don't have a durability curse, you have to swing your weapon like 5000 times to have it start doing reduced damage. It only matters if you do have one, and different curses exist so you'll repeatedly gamble for the best gems with the least-bad curse effects.
t.played ds2 first
>muh funny ragdolls xd
Literally the only good thing about Dark Souls 2
All the souls games are shit. They're fucking shit.
ds2 apologists are worse than people who try to say uncharted is good. if you believe both pls end life
>PvP invasion mechanics in general
No, the fact that there wasn't an unbroken eye orb meant that anything other than dueling in the arenas was heavily discouraged be cause you would crank your soul memory.
Speaking of which, you didn't mention that Soul Memory fucked over all of the better online mechanics because possibly the most retarded mechanic in any of the souls games, that didn't even do what it was meant to do.
And DS3 fixed it and made a system that actually limits twinking.
>mfw flip-kicking corpses into the sky with the DWGR
Well, you've convinced me.
*spams hacked urns*
Engage this, ho.
this shit is fucked up
new londo is higher than swamp
ash lake should be at the bottom
Ash lake isnt even on there
>Das2 is a good ga-
ADP is the gayest shit.
after it's annoying it's arousing
after it's arousing it's the birth of an epic new meme?
>negative AGL
what? so it's a completely pointless comparison
2 and 3 literally have the same system
you retard
>stats effect gameplay
wow that's really dumb i can't believe that
I don't think stats should give you higher health, or a better roll, or a stronger swing, or higher defense, you should start out at your peak, and stay there for the entirety of the game.
i thought was the worst post in this thread but you prove me wrong. ds2 fags, never again
Ash Lake is on the same level as the ToTG, and in the picture it's level with Nito's Tomb through the huge crack in the wall, similar to how it was in the game.
New Londo is underground, we don't know how high it is, but I think that in the game world the 4Kings fight is the lowest part.
>Dark Souls has great lighting
>Dark Souls 2 has non-existent lighting
>Dark Souls 3 has half-assed lighting
Lost Izalith
>DaS2 apologists in literally every Souls thread from now until the end of time
Sup Forums's contrarianism truly has no limit.
Hitboxes should not be affected by stats, that's a little dumb
That one area is the entirety of Dark Souls 2. Flat areas, no shadows or strong lighting, random enemies.
the hit box wasn't changed, the invincibility frames were changed.
>i have no idea what I'm talking about
same difference
invincibility frames are dumb
if something visible touches you it should count
This. I went up against Manus with 8 endurance and a Target Shield and his attacks killed me even though I was blocking. I literally pressed L1 at the right time but my guy just died.
wowwwwwwwww there was nothing I could do
bugged leveling mechanics
>ds2apologists
>das2 is superior to 1 and 3
>Dark Souls 2 was a good game
nope
yes
yes
Never said it wasn't. All I said was that it's hard to say ds1 had a good lighting engine when that crime against retinas was in the game.
what am i looking at here
...
Babbies who can't handle change so they have to mod DaS2 to be like DaS1. I guess you could say they lack Adaptability.
try walking in a circle in Dark Souls 2.
New Londo is literally higher than blighttown.
>walks in a circle
okay now what?
>complaining about things that were fixed ages ago
damn, ds2 haters are really grasping at straws
It it aren't broke don't fix it
It seems less like change and more like deduction. The controls have been made more rigid for no benefit to gameplay. What's good about this particular aspect?
Post pictures.
New londo is on the same level as the valley of drakes, cause you open the massive door that drains out the water.
And valley of drakes is higher than the bottom of blighttown, cause it contains the shortcut to blighttown
Wait, would this be the same 'fixed' durability system that caused weapons to take durability damage based on framerate when hitting corpses? Yeah, rendering every weapon except greatweapons nigh upon unusable was such a brilliant design choice.
this again patch your game moron
Just because its implementation had flaws doesn't mean it wasn't a step in the right direction. I mean, I don't care for it myself, but your argument seems flawed.
>Dark Souls 3 btfo
>dark souls is great
>dark souls 2 is shit
>dark souls 3 fixes it
I literally just started up DS2:Sotfs and spun around on a dime like in DS1
Wow, I'm an idiot. Yeah, I guess you're right.
Is Dark Souls 2 hate the biggest "do I fit in yet, guys???" meme on Sup Forums?
But user, I thought it was a feature, not a bug! B-Team knows exactly what they're doing!
No, I agree there. For all the things DS2 did horribly wrong, it's a real pity the few meaningful things it did or tried to do right were dropped, and what it -tried- to do with durability was one of them.
There's no point complaining about bugs that have been fixed.
ash lake is the lowest point if you look at the 3d models of all the areas put together
>dark souls 2 durability system
>start as a merchant
>Your tiny little dagger breaks before you find your first alternate weapon
shut the fuck up you retarded nu-male cuck.
3 was even more pointless than 1
no one in the world has ever had an item break in 3
Probably yeah
ragdolls are funny, but item drops shouldn't be tied to the enemy's body
>try to grab item but it keeps moving along with the corpse
>corpse falls into an unreachable place along with the item
>gotta restart the game for the item to respawn somewhere I can grab it
patch your game dumbo
doesn't happen
>power stancing
it was replaced by weapon arts and integrated dual wielding which is vastly superior.
I broke my washing pole once when i was summoned several times without sitting at bonefire.
is DS2 the Dark Souls of over-hated games?
9/10 "problems" it has are either nonexistent in the current state or textures not being good enough
How though?
You find a Morning Star in the hub immediately after the tutorial.
>Dark Souls 1 has a durability system where your weapons have a lot of durability but they break slowly over time, necessitating a blacksmith or repair powder or a repair box
>Dark Souls 2 has significantly less durability but a bonfire will get it back to full unless it breaks (requiring a visit to the blacksmith) and repair powder will patch up your damaged but not broken weapon in between
>Dark Souls 3 weapons have enough durability that they will almost never break outside of a few scenarios and bonfires fill up your durability
>DaS3 has a design philosophy
They had no idea what they were doing.
I keep looking at this image trying to find an area that I didn't completely fucking hate playing in but I'm at a loss
Demon Ruins
Lost Izalith
Valley of Drakes
Depths
Blighttown
Everything else is Kino
After the birth of an epic new meme its majestic 12
The only thing 2 did sort of right was PVP dueling mechanics. And maybe nonlinearity but scholar fucked that up hard.
Invasions were still kind of fucky but they don't drag on as much as 3's does.
However 3 is literally superior in every other aspect.
DaS2 torch was best torch.
No.
WA replaced weapon parries for most weapons and some weapons in the DaS2 DLCs outright had Weapon arts instead of a weapon parry.
Integrated dual wielding on the other hand just allowed you to access a separate set of 3 attacks to replace attacks in your normal one-handed attack string but those weapons couldn't be two-handed and were always stuck together as a set.
Meanwhile DaS2 had left handed weapon movesets and you could do more than R1 and guard with off hand weapons.
When you look at them a certain way, yes. Actually.
They are all fundamentally shitty, horrible, broken games. But I found them fun when I started playing them aside from 2.
Now though, I'm slowly beginning to hate all of them
>Dark Souls 2 has better PvP
If you honestly care about seriously doing PvP outside of invasions in Dark Souls, think about what you're doing with your life and then play a proper PvP game you fucking twat.
>Dark Souls has shitty ragdolls
Is it even possible to have taste this shit?
Name a better game for hand to hand PvP using the types of weapons available in Dark Souls.
If you say For Honor I'm going to discard your opinion entirely, no matter what else you list.
