VR is shaping up pretty good, do you plan on byung any of the devices?
VR is shaping up pretty good, do you plan on byung any of the devices?
...
>VR is shaping up pretty good
I sure hope this isn't supposed to be a good example of it.
I can't stop rewatching this shit, it's simply amazing.
>literally 2 fat greasy weebs rubbing each other
I was planning on getting a Vive sometime in the next few months since they dropped their price, but the Occulus seems to be catching up pretty well too with their grip controllers.
Im not sure which I want now.
I already have PSVR but getting it working with PC stuff is pretty janky
>already have VR
Dude just wait for gen 2 lol. Must be like a only a year away by now.
...
>Dorkly
Nice try, senpai.
All I'm saying is that gen 2 is right around the corner and you should absolutely get that instead of the gen 1 products right now, one of which you already own. I'm not saying to always wait forever.
>invalidating an argument because you don't like where it came from
Nice try, kouhai.
Gen 2 is more than a year away if not easily 3 more. What source do you have that it's coming next year? I've got plenty to disagree with you, here's one: vrfocus.com
With both Vive and Rift going on sale recently for about half their original price, now's a good a time as any.
>Gen 2 is more than a year away if not easily 3 more.
I'm pretty sure everyone was saying it was coming 2019 though? That's more than a year sure but it's pretty close. What doess steam dev days have to do with this? It has no connection to announcements regarding Oculus and HTC headsets.
>tfw too much social anxiety to even attempt to play VRChat or Rec Room
So R-Zone was the pinnacle after all
Steam dev days events happen whenever there is any new VR hardware that SteamVR is going to support, and they want to introduce developers to it before it hits the market. Vive trackers, the new knuckles controllers, audio headstrap, these all were at dev days long before release. If there's no dev days, it's very safe to say there's no new hardware either.
Just got my Rift yesterday
what should i do first?
Download sexlikereal and go nuts for an evening. Then get to playing some fun games, like Superhot VR.
is it paid?
...
It's got some free videos.
what kind of tech wizard do you have to be to make an avatar like this? blows my mind
Which one? Sexlikereal has a lot of free full videos. Superhot VR is on the steam store, paid. You can try free things first, like The Lab on Steam as well. Gives a good intro to VR.
I think Cubed is one of the VRChat developers, so that explains things.
oculus or vive?
>oculus or vive?
i'll never be able to answer it.
i feel like if i have a vive i will resent all the time that i don't use roomspace.
and then with the oculus i'll resent all the time that i wish i had roomspace.
nice
i'll give that a try
Guess he must really like Blanc then.
I can't wait for the degeneracy of second life type games in vr.
This vrchat game is already disgusting me with all of these fucking weebs.
If price isn't a factor? Vive.
Reasons why Rift is worse:
-non-removable fabric interior on an expensive device that goes on your face
-slightly narrower FoV (120 diagonal vs 145)
-slightly dimmer screen (130 lux vs 390)
-intentional nose gap, letting light in
-no front camera
-reports of bad "god rays" caused by the lenses
-pushing exclusivity in the VR market
Reasons why you might prefer a Rift:
-it's lighter and a bit more comfortable
Also should add that the Rift cable is 3m while Vive is 5m + extension of the breakout box.
desu i feel like now that the 2nd gen is all but confirmed just wait for that. the current ergonomics are just very rudimentary. psvr came out with a really good headset that puts the weight of the headset on your forehead rather than dragging down the front of your face like a ski mask. vive released a 'deluxe' headstrap but it's another $100 and it isn't the same...
i can hold out a couple more years. maybe then i'll have a computer that can run it all at a steady framerate
I can't wait to cuck people's waifus
Holy fuck I need a Vive. Suicide is painless but life brings joy like this.
Try Aircar and Mission:ISS, both are free.
have you tried both? i dont find the vive to be uncomfortable or too heavy. maybe if you have long bangs or a lot of curly hair it might be annoying or uncomfortable. i have long hair and wear it in a ponytail so it doesn't interfere, but sometimes i have to brush some of the shorter hairs on my face away from the FOV of the headset. the only con to the vive's weight is it will potentially shift around your face if you look down too quickly or too often.
HTC is being really wierd lately in terms of what they're putting out for info and such
i'm hoping the vive 2 is a fucking masterpiece
Not him but I find that the vive has to be perfectly aligned with my eyes are things look more blurry, during use the weight causes it to move around slightly unless I make the straps super fucking tight to the point where it hurts to wear it for very long.
Didn't they plan to sell off their VR branch and focus on smartphones again?
dumb question but how are they able to walk around?
i thought you couldnt have games where you can walk because of how the controls are set up so they always have it so you just teleport everywhere.
I meant to say they're both about the same. The Rift is a LITTLE lighter and comfier, but both do just fine. Also if you wear glasses, Vive will fit those in but you likely won't be able to with the Rift.
I'd probably wait till ZoE2, and possibly a sale.
the straps on the vive are fantastic when you get them adjusted to your head, if you switch back and forth between people with vastly different head size/shape it gets to be annoying.
The hair in the face is a huge issue in some cases, i have a friend who constantly struggles with his hair being in the way
it's one of those things that's hard to ensure will work great on EVERYONE's body because people's bodies vary so wildly
It still looks like shit, what's the point?
>This one shitty chat means that face monitors are turning out well
user please.
that was a rather hollow, off the cuff announcement from what i understand and could easily be smoke and mirrors
I have a gut feeling they're going all in on VR and want to make their next model be the absolute best it can be while still remaining accessible to people.
I don't know how the fuck any amount of optimism is still present in my psyche but apparently it's latched onto VR so i can be disappointed all over again by the world around me
hooray
It's fucking fun. Graphics aren't everything.
vr was a mistake
I got a rift when it went on sale for the summer. $400 is pretty much not that bad for a fun new toy
having fun with Sairento VR
lone echo looks pretty good
I had the same problem. Play Rec Room with your mic muted, and you'll eventually feel more comfortable to play with your mic on because you realize there's really nothing scary about it.
Is that fucking astolfo?
Robo Recall then gal gun vr
here u go senpai
How is it possible that Dorkly manages to always be the complete and totally unfunny. I've laughed at so many otherwise unfunny webcomics, but Dorkly has NEVER managed to even get a smile out of me.
Might end up buying a PSVR if I see one for cheap on Black Friday.
I tried some VR shit in a booth thing when I was at DreamHack. I spent more time juggling random shit than trying to play the crappy indie vr game. The programmer was laughing his ass off. I still wish it was cheaper.
Rift is cheaper, better quality, has better games. Go with the rift.
...
>talk to people
>with an avatar
where have you been this last generation, under a rock?
plus
>in fucking vr
> better quality
HAHAHAHAHA
>has better games
HAHAHAHAHAH
if they make it wireless im on board desu
>obvious guy putting on a girl's voice
Goddammit.
What novelty games would u guys like to see with VR? I'd want a combo of Waifus + The sims + Chibi artstyle. It would be almost like having lil pets.
Has the same games as Vive and has the games ones on the Oculus store without needing revive.
Better quality headstrap, better quality controllers. Umad?
Can't play Echo Arena, Lone Echo, Robo Recall, Unspoken, Dead and Buried, etc etc all quality games cant play them on the vive unless you're using revive in which case you're gonna have a shittier experience all around anyway. And most of the games that are oculus exclusive are FREE if you're using a rift.
stay mad vivetard
...
Fuckit, I just got a job and I'm moving into a decent sized apartment next week so I will have space and money to get this shit.
What headset should I buy? My criteria is that I want waifushit and to not have picture quality so shit that I throw up.
rift
vive
hand tracking is the main selling point for me and most of the vr experience comes from it, the picture quality will be chit until there will be a breakthrough in optics
Even cute lolis are using VR, why aren't you user?
webmshare.com
...
Imagine this effect not used on some moetrash bullshit but like an actual horror game in VR. Christ.
Why is there a HUcaseal fondling her boobs?
But LG is releasing a headset at any time probably within the next year. Neither HTC nor LG obey Valve and HTC has historically announced their headset without Valve. It shouldn't matter if Valve has a conference or not, they can do things and other events outside of that specific one too.
So its Second life 2.0?
>But LG is releasing a headset at any time probably within the next year.
>still same resolution as both Rift and Vive, but several years later
>uses Vive lighthouses for tracking
Sure, but what good is this thing? Doesn't offer advantages over current headsets. It's not "gen 2" for anyone by any definition.
The people that made Second life are making Sansar which is a different VR thing.
>same resolution
That's false.
>uses Vive lighthouses
That's likely false because Valve is already going to release Lighthouse 2.0 soon which LG will adopt.
Buy a gen 2 headset when it comes out.
Is HTC on full shill mode? They recently partnered with VRchat and there's been a huge uptick in posting of that game.
Looks like shit to be honest. The clipping models and glitchy movements need to be fixed.
I don't think "you as an animegirl" needs to be shilled very hard here
Isn't VRchat free?
it is and the sdk is open source
But that's why it's logical to do. Just make it a meme and it'll sell it self. They're trying to get as many as possible to buy a headset right now.
This.
Can a 1050ti handle vr? I know there's articles saying the 1050ti is one of the lowest recommended cards in the compatibility list, but i want to know from a real person with experience to tell me if it ran at 20fps and made them throw up.
Where's the Ebola-chan model?
Can you play vrchat with a VR app on a smartphone? I've been thinking of trying it
Visit your waifu.
Robo Recall, Super Hot, H3VR, Arizona Sunshine, Elite Dangerous and Lone Echo are all pretty good. Maybe Drift or Project Cars if you like driving.
I think so. You can play without VR
When exactly is gen 2? I'm thinking of biting the bullet.
Let's add to that.
Reasons why Rift is worse:
-tracking setup is a little harder to do and isn't as reliable
-need extension cables not only for the headset but for the sensors, if you want big room scale
-god rays caused by the fresnel lenses feels like you have fog and smudges on the lenses
-no options to upgrade the hardware piece by piece because it isn't part of the Lighthouse-SteamVR ecosystem
-ToS specifically disallows commercial use, so you aren't legally supported if you open an arcade business
-doesn't sell to China or b2b
Reasons why Vive is worse:
-same resolution stretched over a larger FOV means lower pixel density
-lenses have more spherical aberration meaning the visuals and text get more blurry as you look farther from the center
-no intentional nose gap that lets you quickly get a view of your keyboard or of real life by tilting the headset a bit using a semi-rigid mechanism (that the Rift has)
-has worse motion controllers with worse ergonomics, no gesture tracking at all, bad grip button, and no thumb stick, and Knuckles isn't released so you'll only get it later, but you also need to pay for it
-no ASW tech so you won't get as good graphics in some applications
-only works with Oculus content through a third party hack
-also has god rays caused by the fresnel lenses, but it feels like you have lens flares instead
-no on-headset headphones so you can't just flip the headset onto your head and go, but do that and then put on headphones
There's Pimax 8k. Kickstarter ends in 32 days.
Other than that no indication
>Kickstarter
Not him but that really puts me off.
Neat
...its a fucking.. virtual hangout.. what the fuck do you have to be anxious about?
I like my Rift but yeah, I'm hoping the platforms take the best bits of eachother for the next gen. Vive or it's third party additions are already copying the Rift's rigid headstrap and touch controllers.
Add wireless and 'inside-out' tracking and VR/AR should be a lot easier for everybody.
