UUUAARRRRRRAAAAAGHHRUUUGGGGGNNNNN

ICECREAM COME GET YOUR ICE CREAM

This is a man who just can't stand going home to his wife.

he's probably a trucker or something

Comfy as fuck

I wonder how good the pay is for being a trucker. Sounds cozy as fuck

100%. I used to cart around some games too. And some kettle bells to keep fit

>*Ding*
>Not *CLANG*
Yes I know about the mindflayer's bell, still.

I used to be a teacher. I made more money in 6 months of trucking than 4 years of teaching.

It's not the best way to live though

I'd probably watch him play for a bit, he's probably really good

This dude knows what's up.

you made good money but it's pretty bad for your health unless you double down on healty lifestyle stuff when you can.

they basicly pay you a premium to be away from your family for long periods of time.

trucker jobs are on the chopping block with automatized driving on the horizon. i wouldnt get too invested in the idea. i hear the pay is currently really good though, but thats because you live in space smaller than a cuckshed 90% of your life.

*bing* *bing*

If you don't mind going full autismal you can retire early trucking; a truck driver for walmart on average makes 73k a year

truckers make a fuck ton of money, but you're basically sacrificing your life for it

i do it for bursts of 5-6 months when i need cash, lasts a good a mount of time too if you live modest

it's a pretty shitty job

>Sounds cozy as fuck

It is absolutely not cozy. It's incredibly soul crushing work.

I'm sure the teamsters would do something about truck driving getting replaced.

>Drive until you want to pass out
>Rush to meet your deadlines
>Unironically get ulcers, less... pleasant problems with your anal region and generally speaking bad health
>Good pay
>May get attacked by bandits (read:"""migrants""") if you truck around europe.

Most teachers get paid pretty poorly though.

I am a fucking contract recruiting coordinator and I make more then most starting, or even mid career teachers in WA state.

>with automatized driving on the horizon.
not happening anytime soon
maybe in 50 years

*very well i can no longer resist you*

*do as you like*

*take your precious demon soul*

Unions are dead in america are you kidding

Someone give him a 3DS, holy shit.

please remove your hurtful, bigoted, racist comment from this forum board reply chain

>50 years

Volvo/Ford/GM/Honda/etc

Basically most large car manufactures are looking to have automated vehicles out by 2025 at the latest.

It is going to be a hell of a lot sooner then 50 years. In 50 years I expect driving as we know it to be a thing of the past.

remote-controlled driving? possibly.
actual automated driving? not by a long shot.

uaargh, aarh, EEEEAAAAAARRRGGGGHHHH

>bandits
Fuck you, they're doctors, lawyers, physicists, and politicians. Hate isn't welcome here

There is already a level 3 truck that is running in Nevada.

Ford wants a level 4 out by 2021.

Its happening much sooner then people think.

yeah good luck with that

Uh huh, and accountants are up next too, right
Thanks Buzzfeed

It's a fucking terrible job, don't listen to anyone telling you it's anything but awful. My dad has been a trucker for years and has told me countless horror stories

PARTY ROCK IS IN THE HOUSE TONIGHT

At least you don't get ulcers ironically

Having automated vehicles and having them on the road are two very different things

Sounds like a good way to lead a half and half neet/wagecuck life honestly. Especially if the money is good enough.

>My dad has been a trucker for years and has told me countless horror stories

Can you share them with us?

Yes, but having automated vehicles out in 5 years is 10x as quicker then what user said at 50.

try ten bitch

I can't wait. fuck driving and all the idiots on the road.

So this is what people sounded like when they raved about flying cars in the 50's.

I think you're mistaking having automated vehicles as a concept and actually having an entire fleet be replaced by them as the same thing.

We already have AI driven vehicles, even successful ones that can handle 95% of things on the road. The problem is, they're still not perfect (meaning people will continue to trust the human element more) and law specifically bars them in several states on safety concerns. Google will occasionally replace their google map cars with driverless ones, but even then, it's only for roads that have had drive data from the past and haven't changed much since then because the risk of an accident is too great otherwise.

Even with ultra-sophisticated recognition software, a machine will have difficulty reacting to situations like a human. Check /o/ if you want a list of reasons why we won't see it for a long, long time.

true.
we already have tesla electric recharge stations in my rinky dink little town in the middle of the desert.

or you could just list them.

Wrong

He doesn't know. He's just throwing shit at the wall

venturebeat.com/2017/06/04/self-driving-car-timeline-for-11-top-automakers/

I originally responded to the user who said 50 years. Sure, once 2025 hits, every fucking car in the market wont be a level 5 automated.

But it sure as hell wont take 50 years.

>>Unironically get ulcers
How does one ironically get an ulcer?

the only ones who don't want them are uber drivers/ taxi drivers. fuck those guys though, seriously. they demand tips for doing their job? fuck outta here. I think when we have widespread automated cars, it'll alleviate a lot of problems with living in a modern city, and give people in the civilized world a chance to reclaim a little bit of their humanity and dignity back.

far more than they deserve.

the boxing gym next to my house uses the kettle bells in the place as doorstops. about the only thing they're good for

story time

I dunno, if you're a gf-less NEET I'd imagine trucking wouldn't be too bad. It's more money than NEETbux, you can listen to your weebshit music the entire trip, the only people you'll be missing are your parents and you're probably used to sitting on your ass all day anyway.

He obviously doesn't want to play on a shit screen.

If you're delivering local its not bad. If you're cross country its basically one of the worst jobs you can have.

Teachers make starting salary like 35,000 are you saying in one year as a trucker you make almost 300,000?

>be trucker
>If your tires aren't spinning, you aren't making money
>Run on three hours of sleep a day
>Cheese the books to make it look like you got sleep
>Everyone on the road things you can just stop your thirty ton rig on a fucking time and just cut you off
>In an accident completely not your fault and proven not to be your fault? GG licence revoked come back after a year of defensive driving
>Oh and every cop you see will pull you over, throw your shit in the road then drive off. Just because

This sounds like a good life to you?

>Not paying your most overworked peons who mass handle your supplies the most.

Maybe for the big dong trucking companies, but it'll take 50 years for them to become FULLY integrated into the workforce.

That sounds about right for contract work.

Some fuckdudes pay you 20 grand just to drive a fucking wedding cake, flowers and some dresses, and you can do several orders per month.

You pass it off as indigestion first.

don't be a trucker. pretty soon machines will do it all anyhow so you can just sit home collecting welfare.

>2011+6
>thinking the welfare state will survive long enough to see that happen

kek

>Everyone on the road things you can just stop your thirty ton rig on a fucking time and just cut you off
This shit. I see it all the fucking time and I think people are straight up suicidal for doing it. Last week I saw a guy cut across four lanes with the first one cutting right in front of a big rig.

Fucking assholes.

by unironically eating too much ketchup

The only way you'd get a shit pay to haul stuff from one end of the country to the other or from country to country is if you used a mule and you're given five years to deliver.

>by unironically eating too much ketchup
How does one ironically eat too much ketchup?

We're probably still 70-100 years away from implementing it, even if the technology is here people wont trust the machine to drive itself with thousand/millions worth of cargo around. The roads are not a controlled enviroment like a factory where you have an assembly line and robots insert part A into slot D and no one will come introduce something the machinery cant handle.

>Cheese the books to make it look like you got sleep
Can't do that anymore come December 18. Almost every major carrier has to switch to electronic logs because DOT finally found out everyone and the pet dog was running two log books. I can't tell you how many drivers I heard threaten to quit over that too.

nice numbers you pulled out of your ass. I'm convinced.
did you know airplanes are 90 per cent controlled by computers?

You're completely delusional if you think planes travel under the same conditions that cars do
You don't have a sky full of retards and it's heavily regulated to keep said retards from being up there

Who /auto/matic here?

>70-100
What the fuck are you smoking? 20-30 AT MOST dude. Automatic driving has been a possibility for years, just nobody pursued it due to the automotive industry being crony as fuck and the possibility of safety concerns. The only reason Google stepped up to bat is because they can throw infinite money at any problems.

>no family obligations
>just sit on my ass all day and eat whatever unhealthy food on the road
How do I get on this bandwagon?

>Cheese the books to make it look like you got sleep
Can confirm, uncle is a trucker for a relatively small shipping company and the whole thing is run about as clean as a bootlegging operation. He's driven off and on for different places for years, I assume a lot of the old pros have been pulling shady shit since day one.

Self driving trucks have already been tested on the road and will be the first to be replaced.
youtube.com/watch?v=Qb0Kzb3haK8

you got it. the more profitable an industry is, the harder it is to do anything to change it
automobiles and oil are the biggest moneymakers on earth

You can't stop a job from becoming obsolete, nor should you.

>Automatic driving has been a possibility for years, just nobody pursued it due to the automotive industry being crony as fuck

last i checked the automotive industry were capitalists, if any of them could push a fleet of self driving trucks out and sell them to haulage firms, they would have made billions hand over fist.

half the world's problems right now are due to people freaking out about things not being exactly as they were 15 years ago

self-driving trucks are

of course you faggots would think you'd like to be a trucker

you drive hours and hours by yourself
its perfect for introverts who make up most of this board

The luddites fail every time. Unfortunately

>sounds pretty fucking miserable
FTFY. I can't be on the free way for more than 5 hours, I don't know how people do it all day and all night long. That's not getting into how awful it must be to drive a semi+trailer through a city.

expect you're driving a semi-truck that can tip over and murder yourself at any point, have 18 gears and have to drive for 15 hours a day at points

thankfully this "profession" is being phased out by self driving trucks

soon

over the road trucker playing with ear buds, neck yourself my man

imagine being old

classic Sup Forums

im sure there will still be a market who needs long distance drivers
smaller jobs or private contracts like being paid to move some family's furniture or whatever

we still have the post office even after email has been around for years

and of course not all companies can afford to invest on automated trucks
mega corps definitely can though

He's a grown ass man user. Let him play what he wants.

Trucker here. I make 60 grand a year and I only work for 4 months of the year. It's hard work at times, but I wouldn't give it up for the world.

>automatized driving on the horizon
That will be fun when until an automated car crashes into an actual person, fucking the shipment and taking lives.

...

I can't wait until self driving trucks put truckers out of work

Thats what they deserve for driving in the left lane to pass another semi truck so they can go 1 mph faster

Fucking cunts

Yeah because people never do that.

Fucking hell automated traffic is primarily something to strive for exactly because it's much safer than human drivers. Training neuroAIs to react to quickly varying conditions on the road is much easier than actually teaching a person what to do when a human or a moose or something suddenly sprints to the road in their way.

if it was so much easier we'd all be in AI driven cars right now

Are we going to ignore the fact that he is playing Devil May Cry 4?
