T-This isn't fair, bros

T-This isn't fair, bros

you can still play it though?

Of course they only had to remove any mention of it

Here's the actual, non-clickbait title.
>Atlus issues a DMCA to Patreon who laughed at it and told them to fuck themselves because they have no legal argument.

ITS NOT FAIR BROS WHY WON'T THEY PORT PERSONA 5 TO PC???

I wish Atlus could spare PC players this slog.

It doesn't matter. It's from japan, it's not a real game.

I'll never understand why developers who have absolutely no interest in the PC market get so booty blasted by emulation. Exactly how many of us do they think are idorts who COULD by the game but are instead waiting for functional emulation? I think absolutely nobody with a PS3/4 would be waiting around for that. The only thing worse is a developer who hounds developers and pirates over decades old games that they're seeing NO profit from whatsoever (I used to have an example of this happening, but I forgot)

Persona 5 is only five months old and its on the most popular current gen console. They are not being anti-consumer by protecting their IP

WTF WHY ISN'T EVERYTHING FREE IT'S NOT FAIR!

That time EA took down a game archival resource with tons of scans of manuals and the like because some 5th gen Fifa games were in there.

>be atlus employee
>come to Sup Forums
>see PCMR always bragging about pirating games
>decide not to port games to PC
>"Whaaaaa, why won't you give us your games?!"

Atlus doesn't really put games on PC because they're paranoid about piracy (and rightfully so judging by PCfags reaction)

You misunderstand what I'm saying. How many people do you think who own both a PS4 AND a PC are sitting around waiting half a decade for RPCS3 to reach an actual playable state just so they can get this one game? If they're that hellbent on pirating it they've probably already jailbroken their console and have the game anyway. Or much more likely, just bought the fucking thing.

Persona is a playstation series, if you've been a fan of Persona you probably have a PS3 or PS4. If you don't, why should they care about you? You probably aren't a Persona fan

I saw the "you'd make back what is stolen from sales" argument used on social media.

They tried to get rid of the patreon and failed so they're damage controlling hard and literally crying about how it wont "feel right" on pc

>Atlus U.S.A. filed a DMCA takedown request directly to Patreon requesting the removal of Nekotekina & kd-11’s Patreon page for RPCS3 development. The reason given is as follows:

>“The PS3 emulator itself is not infringing on our copyrights and trademarks; however, no version of the P5 game should be playable on this platform; and [the RPCS3] developers are infringing on our IP by making such games playable”

>Patreon responded to this request by stating they do not believe that removing the Patreon page entirely to be reasonable, given that the page itself does not specifically infringe on Atlus’s IP, and that they believe the emulator itself falls under fair use.

Even if they did take down the patreon they will never ever get rid of the emulator

...

I mean, Persona 5 is a shitty game but I would like to play Ultimax on PC

>If you don't, why should they care about you?

That's literally my entire argument summed up in one sentence dipshit.

>you can still play it
>you can still download it
>the continual improvement of the emulation will also improve P5 emulation they just can't advertise it anymore
>Atlus can't do anything about other people uploading emulated P5 videos and people posting fixes
This does literally nothing and you fags are blowing it completely out of proportion.

>game is only on one platform
>"It's shit!"
>game comes to PC
>"Thank you for beta testing faggots!"

Well then go out and buy a PS4 to play it you scrub

There's nothing illegal about emulation.

If there was, virtually all businesses that have any portion of them as digital would be forced into bankruptcy.

A shitload of business is now cloud-based, in the sense that you connect to a server that's running a virtual machine to access your desktop. Fuck a lot of servers are on VMs, even. Virtual machines are run through emulation. Emulating a system is legal, software piracy is not (in some places).

There is absolutely nothing illegal about a PS3 emulator.

It's simply a tool. You don't stop selling cars because some people deal drugs out of them, or run people over. It's the responsibility of the individual using the tool to use it legally.

Not even them, but P5 was a huge disappointment.

8 years and we got Persona 4-2.

If its only only one platform it better have a good reason because otherwise its literal shit since its unplayable. The only excuse Personna 5 got is a check from sony.

Oh no not a DMCA
What EVER will we do

Game is legit shit though, it uses the same tropes tha last 2 games used, but with more eyecandy, and better (but fugly) menus

I'd like to have Atlus games on PC, but I don't give a shit about P5
