Thank you Mr. President!
more american video games with a diverse cast. thanks!
>more diversity to the US video game industry
Asians, which is a good thing.
STEM involves the sciences, not the liberal arts, so that means more competent developers and less failed movie critics trying to make games.
Thanks Donald!
>not wanting more diversity
Okay then, enjoy another 20 years of generic FPS shooters
Thank you! May Allah bless the President of the United States! ;)
Why?
This industry needs to die already.
hooray more codemonkeys
I don't get it
>defunds the arts
>funds vidya
>artfags flock to vidya
>More walking simulators
it gets kinda tiring seeing the word diverse thrown in everywhere.
>Hey user is your landscaping crew good?
>Yeah man they're very diverse.
>I asked if they're good though
>Yes they get the job done right and they're diverse.
>defunds the arts
>funds vidya
But video games are art
They are very diverse, they come from all four corners of Mexico
>Previous administration sets up thing
>Current administration takes credit
Every time
It's social currency, a sort of ritual.
>*Tips calculus IV*
>Heh... Q.E.D....
I have a friend that literally said he really liked this super diverse band, it was an all black band.
I just stared at him waiting for the punchline. He wasn't joking, apparently the word diverse is used quite liberally now.
It´s a buzzword, it lacks real meaning.
not necessarily. If it continues the traditions we're currently seeing in major companies, it means more work visa hires at near minimum wage, sometimes below it under the board, and garbage code that's non-functional in a large majority of cases.
haha, time to push STEAM
Look at any STEM degree. "Diversity" is basically just more Asians than usual.
and yet most games will still be garbage and not worth playing
Discrete math was easy as shit nigga
>I only play AAA games with at least 100 millions dollars worth of marketing.
>it means more work visa hires at near minimum wage
>STEM
Are you fucking stupid or just a rural white boy?
>haha stem means im guaranteed to work as a ceo at silicon valley :---DDDD
lol the bubble burst several years ago my dude
one of the big "lets get everyone coding" is to devalue those skills by making them ubiquitous in the workforce
no need to hire a bunch of expensive college grads if you can just round up a bunch of mexican scripters
nigga the last game i played was one you've never heard of and likely never will
I mean I usually don't get in to this but is $30.4 billion realy worth spending on a few thousand jobs? That really isn't that many considering the population of the U.S
Not that guy, but don't lump us rural white bois with some idiot like that
I take it you've never experienced the hellish torture that is being forced to deal with "asian" (indian) diversity hires with some no-name uni giving them a compsci degree? I worked in an office at EA's mobile division on simpsons tapped out. Look through the credits. Literally every other fucking person in the office was indian with barely any knowledge of english, spending 5-6 hours of their 8 hour day twiddling their thumbs and writing spaghetti code that was literally so poorly optimized that it was impossible to salvage, to a point where we just told them to stop committing.
Who talks like this?
You forgot for liberal arts
>Is the best burger flipper his McDonald's has ever seen
there is ONE(1) instance I will except with this word.
>Do you have a healthy stock portfolio?
>Yes its very diverse.
>TI-85
Why would an engineering student use anything below a TI-89?
STEM begins Middle guy, Liberal Arts begins guy from rigth, left guys begins Law,medicine, economy, business.
>STEM involves the sciences, not the liberal arts
>Liberal arts education can refer to academic subjects such as literature, philosophy, mathematics, and social and physical sciences
I really enjoy you idiots continuously parroting terms you don't know.
>ackchyually
no one cares cuck
haven't you seen who's been employed in game companies these days? it's all a bunch of dumb college rejects that can barely tell a pointer from a reference parameter.
What's your major, user?
Laying Pipe
>He didn't study Real Analysis
Sounds like a letter from EA.
What is he even doing? Sounds slike literally nothing, a bunch of classes to waste people's time and money.
STEM refers to science, math, engineering, and technology.
I have not received Liberal Arts credits for taking courses in math or chemistry, back when I was going through collect. Most of the time, Liberal Arts refers to literature, philosophy, social sciences, arts, languages, and similar material.
Lubrano?
He didn't defund shit, there is no "arts" that the government magically funded
In fact hes probably going to spend more on "arts" like Vidya than Obama did
Not an argument, Sup Forums.
You realize computer science majors aren't code monkeys, right? People like you are the reason CS has such bullshit high drop-out rates. Aspiring code monkeys keep going into it blindly thinking it's the they'll be majoring as code monkeys when it's really just a specialized math degree. STEM degrees aren't considerably devalued (at least not more than any other degree), code monkeys are.
[citation needed]
>liberal arts
>math
Not sure how you reached that conclusion.
Defunding wasteful art programs has been on his agenda since before he was running and he made an attempt earlier in the year.
But no one told him executive orders arent magically laws.
according to this chick i used to hang around, its 'malfunction'
haha just kidding i raped and killed her
college for morons
Nou
LMAO, no, it fucking won´t, it would put more programmers in the field, wich will result in employers paying programmers LESS because "If you don´t take there is a ton of people who will"
This benefits companies and harms workers and consumers, just like you would expect any right wing plan to do.
Being hungry for cock
I enjoyed discrete math because it was using approximations to solve problems in ways computers could handle easily. I thought it was more interesting than endless derivatives of calculus.
I just remember calculating the probabilities of various poker hands and writing a proof for the Monty Hall problem. Good class. I think I ended up repeating half the coursework in a statistics class.
>failed 6th grade math
>still want to work for video games
>just steal code
Worked for Phil
>tfw to dumb for stem
Don't worry, I did STEM and can't get a job above part time cashier. Unless you're a Ph.D. you're pretty boned.
There are lots of ways that you can "work for video games" that aren't related to complex math.
300k starting any job I want.
But seriously, Statistics and abstraction > endless Calculus courses.
Isn't this a good thing though? If more women get into STEM studies and become developers, that means they can make their own super diverse and feminist games instead of trying to force other devs to do it, heck the game might even be good
Major?
GPA?
Location?
Didn't Trump criticize violent video games or am I thinking of someone else?
he did.
hes not wrong though.
Women cannot into programming.
I don't know why. It's just the way it is.
Fucking every single politician that you even hear about in the news has talked shit about Video Games.
He was in his "I believe everything I read in chain emails and Facebook posts" phase. Same reason he was anti-vax at one point
unlikely
unless they get funding up the wazoo
it has never been easier to be a musician, film maker or video game maker
unity and unreal save YEARS of work
The same demographic of piss-stained Dockers, Oakley eyeglasses professional ambitiontard does the best (financially) in every field.
technically this isn't video games
He did but he's 71 years old and everyone that old thinks that. He didn't proposition anything so what's the problem?
This
>I don't know why
>woman tries to learn programming through university courses
>one woman, 9 incels who browse /r9k/, professor included
is it really a mystery
The people whose front fell off.
Bio, 3.8, CA ;)
But seriously most of it is medical which requires extra licenses and I don't have any interest in medical.
what are you implying?
I think he means something like "for every one female taking programming classes, there are nine male permavirgins, including the professor." I disagree, plenty of the brighter normies take CS classes.
The problem is women are too busy getting bullshit "women's studies" degrees and working at the GAP after college.
>implying digital artists aren't literally crucial to video game development
sure, there's gonna be more hipster games, but much better looking ones overall.
Do you guys find pleasure from licking trump's taint on a daily basis
Explain
Explain. Barely anybody in this thread has mentioned Trump himself, it's just been STEM discussion, you're the second.
same, got a degree in microbio and im still just a neet who can't find a job in any lab
Is the STEM meme real? I graduated with an Information Systems degree and it was ridiculously easy to find a high paying internship that guaranteed me a ~90K job after like 3 years of University. Currently, I'm thinking of going back to get an Applied mathematics masters or a Computer Science masters, but I don't know if it's worth it. Coding has always been a hobby for me, and it's not particularly hard, and I work with stats pretty much every day, so I figure getting either will be pretty easy, but it's a big investment if you want to go to a prestigious University. Will my salary really balloon up to 200K+ if I go for the STEM meme?
Taking Discrete 2 this semester. The content itself isn't that bad, and I even kind of enjoy doing inductive proofs and stuff to an extent, but my professor just makes the class way more tedious than it should be. My discrete 1 professor was way less strict about writing out proofs.
Well I'm making a shit attempt at arguing with people on the internet because frankly, nothing brings me joy and it's fun to watch people go at it over poltics
Trump is a NAZI
Did you get certs?
Do you actually KNOW how to code?
>Did you get certs?
Nope
>Do you actually KNOW how to code?
Yes, mostly in Java and Python. Some C#. I don't use either for my job though, just R.
discrete 2 is supposed to be more formal. Same with linear algebra
>caring what grumpf does after he's gone back on every meaningful campaign promise
Honestly, it's a nothing thing.
In bigger games, the people who are coding the game have basically no input, so it doesn't matter if it's all white guys or a diverse group that would make a college application stock photo jealous. All coders are basically the same. Fuck, even ME:A was 95% white dudes.
The people who really make the games are all liberal arts students anyway. And if it's small studio with under 10 people on it, they're using a game making software that does all the coding work for them.
More STEM stuff is gonna boost the amount of important jobs, which pay like crazy because of the shortage of STEM workers. But video games are on the lowest tier of the shit you can get with STEM.
It's because women in general are not into mechanics like guys are. Guys are more interested in how *things* work, women are more interested in how *people* work. It's why most women go into the humanities.
The only well-adjusted college students are business majors.
Prove me wrong.
Who else /collegedropout/ and doing just fine?
What do you mean by "well adjusted"? If you mean well adjusted socially, then yeah you're probably right. Business oriented people have to be social and network a lot if they want to succeed, unlike engineering or sciences majors. Basically, the more of a Chad you are, and the more you put yourself out there, the more successful you will be with a business degree. I know tons of business majors that switched from engineering or sciences degrees because "they were sausage fests" and they wanted to smash.
