None of the characters appealed to me so I went the eugenicist route and married the ideal growths child (I believe it was Miriel's kid mixed with a +magic father) to my magic MU and made the highest possible magic Morgan in the game that defeated Grima in a single turn on Lunatic. Cool designed boss but weak as fuck.

Takumi and Azura is unironically one of if not the best supports in Fates.

Actually I think Tharja is the best one for +Magic or maybe Aversa because she gives the dark magic thing

favorite is probably anna or panne since theyre equally cuddly and like their dynamic with robin.
i dont like pairing gregor with anyone since he's like 50 and will leave everybody a widow, but i enjoy the fuck up implications of red-haired brady looking just like a young gregor.
lissa-donnel is damn solid, same with cord/fred. male morgan/nah is unbeatable. all of the awakening kid marriages are also great.

I went with Lucina because it made the most sense story-wise to me but Lucina isn't who I personally would have picked. I like Cherche and Maribelle the best of any of the Awakening female units even if their supports kinda suck for Avatar/Robin.

Lissa, but I overwrote the file for some reason then I married Anna

I just couldn't play Awakening enough times to really try out many options. It was just too lengthy and dull to play through repeatedly, and you didn't get the option to really build up supports with everyone to try them all out.

I personally liked Tactician x Sumia. She's a sweet girl, and connecting over literature and personal motivation was a hell of a lot better than apple pie. I tried out Nowi, Tiki, and Lissa, but didn't find them all that interesting with the Tactician. Also tried out Cordelia, but I didn't feel like there was a meaningful connection there. (Although Severa was an amusing daughter.)

Lissa x Libra was a nice pairing. Libra fit well as Owain's dad.

Chrom x Olivia was what I normally did, mainly because Inigo as Chrom's son fit just so well in so many respects, especially the Chrom/Inigo relationship.

Virion x Panne actually turned out rather sweet and appropriate. Virion can be surprisingly respectable towards Panne, and Yanre the chickenshit being Virion's son is highly fitting. Hell, Yanre even runs away for much the same reason that Virion did. Plus, it gives Panne an entire kingdom to re-establish her kind.

Stahl x Miriel actually turned out rather fun. Having Miriel analyze Stahl's averageness was an amusing series of conversations. I didn't really use Laurent enough to see how fitting his conversations with Stahl were, though.

I've played Fates Conquest as well, but if you've played Conquest, you can likely understand why I don't care about any of the relationships in that game.

Strangely, I hardly used the Dark Mages in Awakening at all. Given that I liked tanky mages in that game, it probably would've made more sense to use them. But Tharja just had a poor personality (and poor Noire for even existing) and Henry was just a bit too... off... for my tastes. Maybe if I played the game more I'd use them more, but as I said, Awakening it just too damn boring to play again.

This is my biggest issue with the game. Too many good choices, and having to marry a good girl with some randlm dude to get her daughter was painful

I don't usually like Tharja either but Lon'qu x Tharja and Libra x Tharja really do show off her better side.

Shame that Noire's characterization is so predicated on her mother being fucked up; Tharja could have been a real diamond.

Maybe it's my own personal butthurt towards the Treehouse, but a lot of the Fates conversations feel a little flat compared to the Awakening ones, except the Awakening trio ironically who are better written in Fates.

They got a bunch of different artists to do the artwork, as opposed to the people who worked on the game in question. The result was a number of characters which looked distinctly off, as a result. Lissa specifically looks like she ate her own nose off her face.

Xander and Charlotte was great in game too, Charlotte was his stat backpack and made him nigh-unkillable.

I always paired Donnel with Nowi. Having a young bumpkin paired with a cute ancient Dragon just seems right to me.

Arthur's looks more fitting than even his original art though, he looks straight out of a cheesy comic book. The only thing off is his facial expression, needs a toothy grin.

He looks highly out of place next to everyone else in Fire Emblem Heroes, but I will admit, Arthur is really the best character to use the Codename STEAM artwork. Rather fitting for him.

I don't like Arthur as a character since his discount Golden Age superhero personality is so at odds with the fates setting, but his art fits him really well.

Raigh and Eliwood are worse offenders. And Lloyd just looks whack.

On my male playthrough I chose Say'ri, and when I replayed as female I married Lon'qu.

I didn't even like fates but fuck he's so likeable I slogged one through just for him. My bro till the end.
The artists I don't like are Cordelia's and both the Robins. Cordelia looks terrible except in her attack portrait and FRobin just looks bad. MRobin looks unsettling and the christmas version of him looks high on crack. Eliwoods eyes are off too.
