Hey my m8, kindly consider sudoku for me. So DMC1 plays a little more methodically and you can't cancel out of every attack frame, it's still a superb action game with all the tools you need, and still balanced around enemies the most aggressive enemies in the series to date. To just handwave it as shit just because "lol slow", yeah get the fuck out.

Have you played DMC 1 in the DMC remaster collection on PS3? Do you know if that collection is worth getting?

Collection is fine, some of the cutscenes are compressed as shit and can sound muffled though. DMC2 is garbage, but it's there. Some rocket launcher move is missing from DMC3 in the collection if memory serves, I think the grapple.

Played it recently, writing an analysis of it. It's bad.

The only good thing about the game is how versatile the combo list is. The fact you can use 5 weapons (and maybe a gun or two) across a single combo without a pause is really impressive.

But
-the engine/optimization is dogshit, leading to pop-in, loading times out the arse and bad collision detection
-enemies are generally not aggressive enough
-bosses (of which there are only 6) are formulaic as hell, acting more like puzzles than actual fights
-every "original" piece of the art design is lifted from Alice: Madness Returns
-multiple levels have forced walking sections that you can't skip on replays
-there are audio bugs everywhere
-the writing is terrible (but we all already know that)

This is all without comparing it to the rest of the series.

Well it's shite on consoles, which is what I played it on.
It's not a fault of optimization, but all versions (including the Definitive Edition) are littered with bugs. My point being that it's bad on a technical level, before you even get to design or artistic choices.

It's not just that they made him worse, they also couldn't decide whether or not he should stay that worse
