Should I start Pillars of Eternity or Divinity Original Sin?

Should I start Pillars of Eternity or Divinity Original Sin?

Pillars is good for awhile, but the third act is dreadful despite being like, 2 hours long. Everything is a 5/10. Not exciting, not bad, I'm actually impressed at how they made it so consistently "not special in anyway". You'll have a great time if you just roll through it once without restarting.

Pillars is fun, never played Divinity so it might be fun too.

Pillars of Eternity is a pretty good RPG with quite a few flaws. Worth a playthrough, in my opinion.
Divinity: Original Sin has a superior combat system but an inferior everything else. It gets boring halfway through, in my experience.
I suggest Pillars.

they are very different games.
you should watch some gameplay to see which one looks more fun to you, and better watch different players, because, I enjoyed both, but some players on YT are so bad that they make the game look less fun even to someone who played them before.
Basically, do not watch DSP-ish guys.

they're about equal, PoE if you like real time + pause combat, DivOS if you like turn based

I started DivOS the other day and while the combat seems interesting everything else is really lackluster and has reddit tier writing.

Bought and played Pillers for a couple of hours, but to me it was just sooooo boring... I was comparing it to Baldur's Gate all the way because that's the only other game like it that I've played before.

What struck me was that there was a HUGE amount of text, but it was pointless and boring. In BG, almost all of the interactions with NPCs are interesting or funny in some way, but in Pillars I was presented with tl;dr-levels of background that had no appeal whatsoever. Your main character can "read" the auras of other people to see flashbacks of their past but it's not got anything meaningful to the story as far as I've seen.

I stopped playing once I reached the first big city where I was supposed to find some monks or something.

Can anyone tell me if it'll get better? Is the game really boring or have I just grown up too much?

Can you post videos of decent guys playing these games for comparison?

Play Neverwinter Nights Hordes of the Underdark.

there are npcs in the game created by kickstarter backers as an incentive, you shouldn't ever interact with them since they suck for the most part and have nothing to offer

pretend they're part of the scenary

P.S. I must admit that the fights are a LOT better than BG though. In Baldur's gate I had to rest after casting my spells, but in Pillars it's better int he sense that the easier spells are kind of infinite in supply, and only the bigger ones have a "once per fight" or "once per rest" kind of thing.

So i'd say the fights feel very smooth and interesting, but the story (which is more important to me) sucks (as far as i've seen it)

P.P.S. please don't spoil on the story, in case I might go back and play it

Don't read the gold plated backer NPC.

Ah that makes sense then.

Rest of the story any good though?

I enjoyed divinity more. Pillars has better writing, divinity has better gameplay. Just play divinity muted it features the worst voice acting I've ever heard in any piece of media ever. This is fact.

its good enough to hold your interest if you find the gameplay interesting, its not a masterpiece or anything though

It wasn't a bad story desu.

Personally I liked it, dunno about your tastes.

The third act is real good, though. I think the second act is the weakest one. Defiance Bay is just not very interesting.

Since there isn't really any other pillars threads, if i'm a casting class would dualwielding (with perk) increase my action speed with spells?

Divinity is goofy as fuck. Pillars has its own head up its ass.

Mechanically Divinity is better. Because they've been experimenting with the series since day 1 and not dicking around emulating a 30 year old game.

They're both alright.

Divinity's writing is insultingly bad tho on average, at the very least Pillars has a story to tell.

Chapter 3 is strong story wise but its the weakest one in terms of quests and things to do

it has some glaring pacing problems but as a whole its a cool story

If you plan to give Original Sin a shot do so knowing Original Sin 2 is an upgrade in every single way. OS1 almost feels like a very polished alpha for 2.

You should start Divine Divinity

>Divinity's writing is insultingly bad tho on average, at the very least Pillars has a story to tell.
Oh yeah, I'm not gonna deny that. Even as satire, it's bad satire, and has been since Divine Divinity. In Original Sin it goes full "holds up spork". Terrible stuff.

But I guess I just don't care.

>Chapter 3 is strong story wise but its the weakest one in terms of quests and things to do
I disagree. It's when you get the most interesting quests. All of the god quests are fun, for example, as is the Sacrificial Bloodlines.

>turnbased
>superior
its a snoozefest

Not spells at least, I'm not sure how action speed goes with dual wielding but I'd guess no.

Ah, shame. I didn't know this until now but if you chain spells you actually throw them out so much faster, thought that was cool. Cooler if it were faster with dual wielding. At least it IS faster with that motion spell. Thanks anyway.

Pillars if you play these games for the writing, D:OS if you play these games for the combat.

just fuckin' play both.

Technically it should be faster with dualwielding. If high dexterity gives bonuses to casting speed, then that dw talent should too.
Now there is possibility that the talent only affects your weapon's attack speed. I used arquebus with my 18 might/dex priest and it definitely didn't affect casting speed.
Anyways I don't think that's a good build even if it affected. 18 dex is more than enough and most of your downtime is due to recovery time, unless you are gonna play naked.

Hell, I play with just 10 dex and it's fine.

this

which one has the better porn mods?

>tfw so many pillars saves going on I don't what to play

sadly I don't think they have any

NWN

Go to your druid save.

a good game instead?
