Why did local multiplayer die out in games? You would think it'd be more common in newer games since larger TVs are more common than they were a decade ago but you rarely ever see dedicated local multiplayer modes outside of Nintendo games like Smash Bros and Mario Kart.
Hell, I got Gundam Versus in the mail today and my brother was upset that we couldn't do local 1v1s against one another.

The internet becoming more mainstream, and a shift to online culture (not even video games) with computers in general
Thomas Smith
Holy god are they playing a fucking OUYA
Ryan King
And they are playing some bejeweled variant, just like in a real OUYA!
Connor Fisher
They're playing Puyo Puyo
Nathaniel Nelson
>anime girls play ouya >THE SUDDENLY THE DOOR GETS KICKED IN BY A STRANGER >THEY ALL GET BRUTALLY KILLED
nothin personnel
Gavin Anderson
Does it at least have system link?
Benjamin Wilson
The ouya's a lot smaller than that
Brody Evans
Gundam Versus? Yeah I'm pretty sure it does. Good luck getting people to bring a PS4 and a tv over to play gundam when they can just add one another on PSN and duke it out there.
Bentley Myers
people dont hang out the way they used to. they instant transmission thoughts across the net and it kills the interactivity. even in person everybody is glued to their phones.
Austin Harris
Both my brother and I have ps4s and our own tvs.

Removing local means they sell two consoles, two copies of the game, and two online subscriptions, instead of just selling one of those things and two controllers.
Excellent contribution to the thread, except not really. Consider suicide.
Jace Harris
It didn't die out, Nintendo still makes local multiplayer games.
Luke Morris
Because who the fuck would wanna visit someone instead of playing from home?
Grayson Reed
Splitscreen increases the stress on the hardware. It's pretty common to see the FPS drop in multiplayer modes which is a big problem for graphically intensive/unoptimised games when they're already struggling to reach a solid 30 FPS. You only really see splitscreen for games that start at 60 FPS.
Lucas Green
Name a better local multiplayer game than Chu-Chu Rocket. You literally can't.
Kayden Jackson
yeah man Im actually pretty bummed out about that too my man. >tfw no split screen Exia+Dynames with brother kind of makes me regret buying it
Grayson Lopez
>>THE SUDDENLY THE DOOR GETS KICKED IN BY A STRANGER >>THEY ALL GET BRUTALLY KILLED
...they beat a fucking demon god. I think one loon is nothing to them
Kevin Peterson
Because people have better things to do now than get together and just play video games.
