I'm more into MK and Injustass, but I do miss watching USF4, it was a lot more hype then SFV.

I still play USFIV at least a couple times a week, so I don't miss it that much. what I do miss is watching and playing in the USFIV tournaments, there was always so much soul and hype to it, everyone seemed to have so much fun, with SFV it just feels like everyone is going through the motions and no one is really putting there heart and soul into it, I try to watch tournys but I just get so bored

you got your shotos (and even in shotos you have some diversity, goukens weird ranging and counter, Dan's hopkick gimmicks, Evil Ryu's Stomp)

then you have the grapplers, Zangief with his green hand, Hugo and all the insane shit he does, T hawk with his very linear darting attacks and command grab etc

Then you have oddballs like rufus and gen, two totally different fighters who are hard to categorize

two boxers, one charge one motion

easy combo characters like cody

vortex characters like c viper and fuerte

turtling like blanka sagat guile and dhalsim

the list goes on. there was truly someone for everyone

This is why Nintendo not really supporting smash is a good thing.
If companies didn't constantly tell you to play their next competitive game people would be playing what they like.

Not really. However while I didn’t enjoy IV it was definitely fun to watch. I also think the commentary was more passionate too.

I'm upset that the same people who shat on it are saying they miss it now. I've always liked sfiv. Matches can be over so quick due to shenanigans. Not vsav quick, but 3s quick if anything.

It’s Capcom’s fault for doing so many iterations of a single game. It’s got people in the mindset that once a new one gets released the entire community packs up and leaves the previous game.

Yeah the commentators don't seem as intrigued with SFV. They sound more robotic now. There was a lot more unpredictability with SFIV that kept people excited.

Cody combos are about the same difficulty as shotos to be fair, e.g. jab jab medium special is basically the same timing for many characters.

Cody's combos in general are like you said, pretty easy. Cody combos only start to become difficult when you want to do maximum damage from non-counter hit st.HPs by linking into cr.MP.

While Evil Ryu was a scrub magnet I found him to be the most fun version of Ryu in recent years

PM got murdered when the PM team learned just how much trouble they'd be in if any company at all decided to sue them for unauthorized use of their characters. It was also encouraging jailbreaking wiis, something nintendo dislike.
