I've noticed that right after Mania came out, there has been a lot of threads expressing how horrible sonic forces is and how it's gonna be the worst sonic game ever.
I hate to be "that guy" but I still can't see for the life of me what's so bad about it. It looks fun. Granted, I enjoyed Generations and Colors, so how am I not supposed to enjoy this? I know it'll be nowhere near as good as Mania, but I can't seem to wrap my head around the overly dramatic criticism that, quite frankly, I only see here on this board. Is it because it's 3D sonic? Why can't be live in a world where both exist?
Jason Murphy
A lot of people who hadn't played the classic games in a long time thought the classic sonic levels were good. When Generations released everyone shit all over the 3D level and praised the 2D ones when it should have been the other way.
Now that Mania has released, the classic sonic levels in generations and forces look really bad. it looks and plays like an ugly fangame. combine ugly classic levels + sonic's annoying friends + extremely bad looking deviantart character levels + sonic team hate and you have a recipe for everybody talking shit.
Adam Smith
The only bad part is Classic Sonic. Mania has exposed how Sonic Team and Dimps never got the physics and rolling right since 1994. It was like this in Generations, but the nostalgia and good vibes softened the blow.
As for the Modern Sonic, it's just Sonic Colors/ UnWiished again, for better or for worse. I don't think it's a problem because Colors was good even if I think 360 Unleashed and Generations are the superior variants of boost play. Avatar looks like the 2D colors stages with a grappling hook so it should be at least decent.
Forces honestly looks like a solid 7 or 8, which is par the course for the good Sonic games. But Sup Forums, being Sup Forums will cry doom and gloom anyway till the game comes out and then years later say they always loved it like the contrarian bastards they are.
Michael James
I want them show more 3D Sonic levels. Where is 3D Casino Forest?
David Gonzalez
>A lot of people who hadn't played the classic games in a long time You mean the bandwagoning journalists and non-fans.
Asher Gray
Exactly user.
Isaiah Mitchell
t. user who wasn't here for Generations' release
people shit all over the 3D levels and praised the classic shit. it's why nobody gave a fuck about unleashed and colors but suddenly Generations was a return to form. The 2D level hate bandwagon didn't start until Mania existed, before then it was a minority opinion.
Levi Baker
Classicfags who want only classic games instead of just allowing both to coexist.
Oliver Collins
>omg why does Sup Forums have to be so mean :'(((
Go back to your containment board /sthg/.
Aiden Hughes
But that's not what I said and that's not what I'm implying.
Juan Russell
It's just the usual on Sup Forums OP that why most people find it hilarious the amount insults they throw at this game,Even Mario Odyssey was getting ridiculous hate a week ago over a minor dip in framerate.
Lucas Roberts
It just looks like a bad fangame OP. I'm sure others have said it but none of the levels look all that good. Everything is just straight line or booster pads and nothing actually looks thought out.
Xavier Robinson
It's amazing to me that even the 8-bit handheld games have better physics and level design than Modern Classic Sonic.
Robert Ross
sonic forces is shit game
Luis Cox
Well I'll give you some examples
>Granted, I enjoyed Generations and Colors, so how am I not supposed to enjoy this? Because it really does look worse than both of those games. The level design hit a massive dive in quality and looks really script heavy, and at best, stiff and awkward playing the OC gameplay and through that 3D section with the Tag Team gameplay. The weight and movements of the characters looks like they took the overclocked speeds of Heroes' running movement and made EVERYTHING, from falling, homing attacking, everything, move like that. It feels very jarring. I think Lost World moved like that, which could explain why the gameplay is like this seeing this is the team that made Lost World.
>I've noticed that right after Mania came out, there has been a lot of threads expressing how horrible sonic forces is and how it's gonna be the worst sonic game ever. Because now there is a secondary comparison, Genesis Physics. Like it or not, Classic Sonic's point to fans playing Gens was to get one step closer to Genesis Sonic gameplay again, not have nostalgia pandered 2D Sonic be something people wanted to play with "better" Sonic 4 physics. So now that an actual, 1-to-1 to the prime gameplay (Sonic Mania) is out, anything Sonic Team has made with 2D that doesn't have physics that plays like how Sonic in 2D used to play before Sonic Adventure is now getting anal raped beyond repair. This is the major fault of SEGA/Sonic Team, they had no reason to keep Classic Sonic a thing if they seriously can't remake the original gameplay that classicfags really wanted. It's like if NSMB played exactly like Sunshine but just stuck in a 2D perspective, that game would have been utter shit because Sunshine doesn't play like NES Mario does, and at best would shit the bed seeing some of the wonky parts of Sunshine happen from time to time.
Thomas Bennett
odyssey got hate because of sonygers and nintodlers, retard
Carter Howard
TL;DR: Basically what said. Forces panders to too many parts of the fanbase and does each part badly and not on a level of improvement. Forces should have just been a fully fleshed out 3D Boost Sonic game instead of being a hodgepodge of elements from past Sonic games, for better or worse.
Jaxson Cooper
>Nintodlers Why would they hate their own game you idiot?
Dylan Peterson
>Shity physics >Bad leve ldesign in 2D and 3D
Colton Scott
They do not hate it, they hated by sonygers, simple minded retard. Why the fuck do you think you are entiled to spoonfeeding? >idiot Back to plebbit, underage faggot.
Nicholas Morris
>nintodlers I guess your the real retard here
Samuel Fisher
What in the fuck is this post? Can't you into english properly or something?
James Morris
>I've noticed that right after Mania came out, there has been a lot of threads expressing how horrible sonic forces is and how it's gonna be the worst sonic game ever I'm sick of this excuse and I'm fucking sure you purposely keep parrotting it over and over. Forces is bad by itself. The fact Mania exists and is good has nothing to do with the criticism Forces receives. If anything, people would be even more pissed at Forces if it Mania didn't exist. It is THAT bad. It's embarassing people like you try to deflect all the criticism Forces deserves with Mania.
Jacob Collins
It's just buzzwords, don't feed him (you)s
Juan Jenkins
Maybe it's because it doesn't look good and is coming to destroy any goodwill Mania gained for Sonic? Truly a mystery for the ages.
Justin Roberts
>The fact Mania exists and is good has nothing to do with the criticism Forces receives. It does actually. It looks bad on Sonic Team that they're being outdone by a team of glorfied ROM hackers. Hell, not even glorfied. Mania had the head coder of Sonic Megamix, one of, if not THE most popular Sonic hacks working on it. With a full fledged perfect classic game fresh in people's minds to compare to, Forces can't use the veil of bringing back the classic design like Generations did.
They actually shot themselves in the foot by releasing Forces before Mania on that one. Any bad vibes from the former would have been cleanly erased by the latter.
HOWEVER, despite the criticism, Forces will coast by financially on the sheer volume of Deviantart autists finally living out their fantasies.
Anthony Lee
Then why do people keep bringing up mania
Grayson Parker
I find the criticism to be over the top irrational. Especially since we still haven't seen much of anything other than the fact that's it's a Generations 2.0
