Not op but bumping because i wanna know too.
Are there even any games that take advantage of the pros processing power
TLG only hits stable 30fps on Pro. That's probably where the industry is heading. Target 4K/1080p on Pro and then compromise for the regular PS4.
4k is the only reason
you can play knack 2 in 60 fps on pro.
if that's not a good reason to buy pro, then i dont know what is.
Look up DF videos with PS4 Pro in the name, they'll tell you the differences. Some games are more significant than others. If you don't have a PC for multiplats, a Pro or Xbonx would probably be a good investment.
Slim and fat don't have optical ports for audio, but that's basically it.
oh and also fancy blue light.
Really ?
Not Op, but I thought games like Bloodborne, Horizon and Witcher III would run on a better framerate with the PS4 Pro ?
Is it really just a marketing scheme ?
>supersampling
>SATA 3
>5.2GHz WiFi dual band
>good investment
How is it an investment? He's not going to make more back on it later.
Don't buy either and don't support this half-gen upgrade bullshit. Sony just wanted to be able to charge $400 for the PS4 again.
Yes, it was bullshit PR talk. Unless the developer decides to go back and rework their game to make it run better, you'll see no changes. It doesn't just magically make every game run better.
Bloodborne and Witcher 3 don't have pro patches so they most they benefit from is boost mode, not sure if it makes a difference. Horizon has supersampling and some better textures at 1080p but the main benefits are on a 4k HDR TV.
the frame rate is locked 30 on all consoles.
even with pro patches and boost modes/whatever

He might get it back in entertainment.
I kinda agree that the half gen bullshit is awful but no system so far has been worth buying until the new version releases, at least if you have a PC. PS4 got the majority of its quality exclusives this year and xbone hasn't had anything yet even with the xbonx coming out.
It's making me hold off on buying a Switch though, and I'm not a fan of that.
Planetside 2 plays insanely better on the Pro. That alone has warranted my purchase.
I have no interest in this game
Absolute requirement for PSVR if you were planning on getting one for some reason.
Some games have enhanced modes for Pro. At the very least Nioh gives you a 1080p 60FPS option.
There are benefits to owning a Pro even on 1080p displays. Personally I find it more appealing that way than on a 4K display, because to me personally the checkerboard artifacts stand out plain as day. Obviously it can't take a game beyond any hard frame rate lock that has been set on it, but between games with formal Pro support and Boost Mode it can make a decent difference in games that don't quite meet their mark. Also, sharper image quality.
I bought my PS4 Pro for PS2 and If your just going to play bullshit like old exclusives and weebs shit then just get a base model.
1tb is pretty good, the 500 goes pretty quck. Idk if they made a regular 1tb ps4 yet

May want to look at this list, though. Should give you a good idea of what the differences are like.
the complete retard made the list into .jpgs and unsearchable
If you dont have a ps4 already idk why wouldnt get a pro. More powerful in general for more stable fps, boost mode, 60fps/4k on upcoming games, more storage. Its $100 more, I got mine for only $50 more. Why would you get the weaker model?
Also, I noticed you said you dont have a 4k tv YET, implying you will probably get one, also considering 1080p tvs are hardly being manufactured, you are "future proofing." Despite Sup Forums bashing that term
>STABLE
if you gonna play multiplats...Then be ready for drops.
ThereĀ“s no point in getting a ps4 at all
> also considering 1080p tvs are hardly being manufactured
yeah sure buddy
We're painfully close to Black Friday now. It would be wise to hold off until then to buy any PS4 if you can.
During Prime Day Slim PS4s hit $220. They'll likely hit that or maybe even lower during Black Friday.
A lot of Pro games have a 1080p/60fps moder but you also get slightly better frame rates with Boost Mode on old games and everything loads slightly faster when using the internal HDD.
if you are buying any model of PS4 I suggest investing in an external HDD it'll save you so much time in the future when dealing with storage space.
Pros should be super cheap around Black Friday to kill any momentum X1X has built for itself.
That's pretty likely too which is why I think OP should wait if possible.
seriously. I bought a new tv a month ago and i would have gone 1080p if there were any good models still being made.
PSVR , PSVR is the superior VR unit. PS4 VR has all the best VR games , and you can hack it to run PC VR games. Get a Pro if you want the best PSVR. PSVR PSVR PSVR PSVR PSVR.
witcher 3 is getting a pro patch, its getting one for xbox one x scorpion or what ever the fuck its called too
Oh fair enough, last I heard they were too busy on 2077 but it's nice they came around.
