Loading a version of Windows that has almost no programs or personal data in it, that is cut off from the Internet and that you mostly don't deal with (since you're almost always start a particular program once you boot it, and turn it off when you stop using the program) to play a game for a few hours is not the same as using daily for everything.

If I would have PS2, it would be silly to use emulator, yeah. Thats why, since I have legal, free copy of Windows 10 (students are being showered with MS software, except of Office), I find it silly to use Linux to run Windows in VM instead of using the Windows itself.

But if you're running Windows in a VM you are running Windows.
You're just giving yourself much more control over it through the use of an open source firewall and giving yourself the ability to use your computer without submitting to the built in malware.

Of course depending on your gaming habits, the Windows VM is completely unnecessary, it may not have the ability to run every game yet, but between the thousands of native games, and the tens of thousands that run through compatibility layers and emulators you're going to find something to play.

I dont see anything in Windows that would fit the definition of malware. Except some memes that are, well, memes. No, phoning home is not malware. The degree of control over Windows is greater than most people think and its perfectly viable to let MS only know that your PC exist and your Windows copy is legal. Thats all they will know, if you use properly configured Enterprise.

Re-adding removed "apps" with feature update is another thing and it still piss me even if all I have to do is running prepared script in powershell to get that shit off. And in my few "feature updates" so far, it never resetted settings, which is good. Given how US posters report such problems, however, I start to think that my EU status might have something to say.
