As someone who likes steam, it's mostly there for convenience sake. I'd like to be able to install a game and play it anytime, without needing steam's offline client. It's a personal thing, I don't want my game dependent on other software. I can tolerate steam for the benefits it offers, but otherwise it shouldn't be mandatory.

If I had one major complaint about the game, it's that I don't like bullet sponge bosses. Especially ones that don't give you an indicator of how far you've come. It knocks it out of GOTY territory for me. Otherwise everything else is stellar.
