Bullshit

>no Dr Light anymore
Don't care

I mean yeah, it came out like 10 years ago.

ha ha jokes on you, i checked on them recently and they stopped touring and are actually recording the fucking thing finally.

LIGHT UP THE NIGHT

I used to prefer Act I for the uptempo, battle scene music. Now I prefer Act II for the slower songs. All still great though.

For some reason, I can't get one particular part of Breaking Out out of my mind. It's when it focuses on the piano.

The engine's running, baby
We don't have time for goodbyes
I know you can't come with me
I see that look in your eyes
So kiss me fast
Cause there's no time to lose
Leave the light on
I'll come back for you
When everything is said and done
I swear I'm gonna make it right . . .

What's Supposed to be up?

Is this /ourband/?

who else would be?

Personally my favorite part is the interlude of oooooooooooooooooh dont turn your back on the city and the guitar slowly coming in

What. Have. I. Done..?
Though I did not pull the trigger I...
Built the gun...
That he holds in his hands.

Fucking finish Act III already.

HOLD BACK THE NIGHT

There is a flame that I've been fanning,
There is a fire waiting to catch,
There is a hell that has been building from the moment we first met,
If there ever was a time,
If there ever was a chance,
To undo these things I've done,
And wash these bloodstains from my hands,
It has passed and been forgotten,
These are the paths that we must take,
'Cause you and I, Tom, we are men,
And we can bend and we can break,
If you think that you can run
If you think that you can stand
Well you forget who turned this city on,
you forget WHO PLUGGED THIS CITY IN!

Are there any other albums that tell a story in such a consistent way?

are these the guys where every other word is "city"?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Rock_operas

WE
HAVE
CONTROL

These guys stuff is honestly too good for being a Meagman inspired rock opera

Also sung with:

If I die don't blame yourself, We all do what we think is right
I'm breaking out of here

I'm still stuck on Act I, like you were. I gave act II a quick listen and didn't like anything. Any specific tracks you recommend relistening to?

My friend never listened to The Sons of Fate even though he loves the Protomen
>"I usually switch to Act II after the Stand"

There's nothing quite like The Protomen, I have spent considerable effort trying to find more.

This is a good song with a similar vibe though:

Breaking Out
Light Up The Night
The Hounds

There are also various re-imaginings of Breaking Out, for example here they mix it with Heroes by Bowie.

youtube.com/watch?v=6Tgu-Zl5TCw

>tfw you never got to see them live before turbo lover left

Oh, and obviously Breaking Out with the Silent Running intro.

youtube.com/watch?v=6C8QmvcK0RA

Frances the Mute and Deloused in the Comatorium by the Mars Volta.

Yeah this happened to me. It's a shame, The Hounds was still good but I guess I didn't get the fully authentic, classic Hounds experience. Oh well, it was still awesome and they are really great in person.

Not him, but my highlights are if you give The Good Doctor long enough for Wily to start losing his shit, when Wily confronts Emily in Father of Death, The Hounds in general, what I mentioned in Breaking Out, Keep Quiet in general, and Light finally reading Emily's letter in Here Comes the Arm.

What excactly is up? The album has been out for years.

People dont understand that they are both intended to be listened to from start to end.

>The Black Parade
WHEN I WAS

But it's the NEXT god damn song!

Good man. Breaking Out is the true patrician's favorite song. Light Up the Night is certainly good, but there's so much better.

>Act III never fucking ever

Why did they spend the last decade just making fucking cover albums and aimlessly touring

>If these people
>tell this story
>to their children
>as they sleep
>maybe someday
>theyll see a hero
>is just a man
>that knows hes free

I get that its a little harsh to listen to at times but its got some pretty emotional parts in there.

>Human Choir: He could not save himself.
>How could he save us?
>For all the blood he shed, (Megaman: As I live)
>Your brother failed us. (There is no evil that will stand.)
>There's nothing you could do. (And I will finish)
>You had no choice. (what was started:)
>Why do you cry for him? (The fight of Protoman!)
>You are our hero.
>You are our hero!

Like damn. He spent all this time saving them, kills his brother, only to realize his brother was right all along, and they close in on him screaming that his brother was weak and an enemy, and he cant even mourn for a brief second.

m8 just start listening to The Megas it's the closest you're gonna get

what's up? Act 3?

>2005
X8 is released
>2010
10 is released
>Mega Man is cancelled
No Mega Man albums for the next seven years.

youtube.com/watch?v=hBKk-xXfOTY

I "fixed" The Sons of Fate a few years ago

Waay ahead of you

youtube.com/watch?v=qMLXalKA_J4

I never realized how good The Fall was until I saw them live
youtube.com/watch?v=qMSZxyPwr1E
Surrounded by energy following Light Up the Night, it's a great, yet tragic, piece of both victory and defeat

They'll not switch it off again!

This is legit one of my favorite songs in either acts.

I'm a lucky cunt who lived in TN. Got to see them at their prime at a con I went to. Absolutely fantastic.

Still hate the cunts for wasting so much time between Act 3.

Act 3 is out????

Fuck off fake news.

CUTMAN

no

it's not

now that the dust has settled I think we can agree that The Houndsbis the best song and Battle Network was the best Megaman series

GUTSMAN
FIREMAN

WIILEY

...

>You came here to avenge his death
>You came here to save mankind
>Can you see now, you cannot do both.

When the city and its people is the central focus then of course it will come up a lot.

Your father loved you

No wonder he leaves those fuckers to die.

>Battle Network
I'mma let you finish but Legends is the greatest Mega Man series of all time.

He still believes?

I used to be into The Megas but the Protomen have won me over I think.

They REALLY need to put that on itunes or something. I hate that Breaking Out with that Silent Running intro is only available on that limited cassette, 'cause it's so fucking perfect. It just adds so much more emotion to an already emotionally charged song, I so wish it was available in a higher quality.

Funny, I went the other way. I loved The Protomen for their original tunes, then grew to love The Megas for having some seriously excellent lyrics and ACTUALLY PUTTING OUT FUCKING NEW SHIT.

History Repeating: Red is divine.

>there will never ever be a rock opera interpretation of Megaman X, Legends, Zero, or Battle Network
rip

IF YOU'RE THE ONE
MY FATHER'S SON
THEN WHAT AM I
SUPPOSED
TO
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

His heart was broken

I HAD A NAME
MY FATHER CALLED ME BLUES
HE TORE MY HEART FROM MY CHEST TO GIVE TO YOU
that fucking subtle bass pedal heartbeat right at that line goddamn

>You are the dead...

Fucking chills.

>History Repeating
Love both of those albums, I've considered buying the discs for my car but haven't yet.

>buying physical albums for listening in the car

They've only just started recording more songs dude. It's going to be 3 more years.

Nigger The Protomen literally ripped off their entire presentation and schtick from Styx. They admit to as much.

Also Meatloaf has a ton of Rock Opera type albums and they're all great.

Different combination of sound and sci-fi story content though

>that heroic chord that plays when they do Hope Rides Alone live
Fucking great

His only weakness.

His greatest strength!

My commute to work and class from home is literally like 5 minutes, sometimes less, I'll spend more time connecting the AUX cable and picking a song if I even decide to use my phone. It's good to just pop in a disc and let it play all the way through before swapping it out. I have a few custom ones too where I've burnt 80+ songs onto them, with admittedly a little weebshit.

Recommend me some Meatloaf user

Look up 'concept albums'. There's a fuckload.

Listen to Bat out of Hell and tell me if you like it. If so I have more to recommend.

Outside of Paradise by the Dashboard Light I really like that album.

what is updog

Protomen fans may also enjoy the 80's in general

youtube.com/watch?v=rDBbaGCCIhk

I havent really taken a good listen to The Megas yet, but this song was really fucking good. I need to set aside a day and listen to their stuff. Do they do rock opera as well? is there an order to listen to them in?

Get Equipped -> History Repeating: Blue -> History Repeating: Red

It's somewhat of a rock opera, though not in a particular order. The CDs tell an alternate story of their respective games and the robot masters within, usually giving them a pretty neat personality quirk. Get Equipped is a MM2-themed CD, and quite good, but the dual History Repeating CDs, based on MM3, really get into Mega's inner conflict over being a machine built to kill machines, as well as introducing Proto, who is always awesome.

>huge protomen fan
>synth wave, 80's, and all surrounding genres are my favorite

read like a book

thanks anons. Ill give it all a listen. probably before I kill myself after this hell week of exams.

I WILL NOT BE TOLD WHERE TO STAND

NOT BY MAN OR MACHINE, NOT BY YOU, NOT BY ANYONE TONIGHT!

>that one time Sup Forums watched a Protomen concert livestreamed together
That was a good night.

GONNA HAVE TO DO BETTER THAN FEAR

If I remember right, at some point Rock doesn't stop a massacre because he's sad

If I remember right, then they should have made an OC 'inspired by' Megaman instead because that's a large character fuck-up

But honestly, I don't remember all that well and I might be mixing it up with something wrong

I honestly prefer the Megas

GONNA HAVE TO STEP OUUUUUUUT OF THE SHADOWS AND FIGHT!

>because he's sad
Because he got himself worked up to fight these people, defied his brother AND his father because he believed in them, KILLED his fucking brother because he believed in them, and then was proven wrong and that his actions were pointless.

AND WHEN THEY SEE YOUR FACE AGAIN!

Got to see them several times in their prime. One of the only bands that can make a crowd of 500 feel like a crowd of 10000.

>at some point Rock doesn't stop a massacre because he's sad
I don't think you can have a poorer understanding of basic concepts than this.

THERE'S WORSE THINGS THAN DEATH HERE

Why does the cover look like a rip off of the cover for Streets of Fire?

Because the cover was inspired by that poster. Incidentally, the Act II cover is really good, there's a lot going on if you look closely at the details.

THEY WILL KNOW WHAT IT MEAN TO HAVE FEAR DRAGGED OUT INTO THE LIGHT
