This is a movie, not a video game. Unity can't do anything. You can download the Adam assets and see how horribly optimized the entire thing is as anything but a movie.

But it does look better than infinite, more interactible environment, with grenades making light sources shake makes it look extremely good and gives it a very chaotic feeling in fights. Whereas a game like Infinite has higher polycount, yet explosions look like garbage because it's a fire ball that does nothing to the environment.

To each their own, the dynamic lights of FEAR make the combat shine with how crazy it gets with explosions. In comparison Infinite and most FPS might have better environments, but they're so static/non interactible they might as well be a movie.

The engine has a reputatiuon for a reason.
graphics is one of the lighter tasks a game engine needs to handle
game logic, all the nuts and bolts that make the game work eat up far more processing power than the graphics laid over them.
Since this is basically a fancy cutscene and not a game, they can get away with better assets because because your computer doesn't need to worry about a running a game, on top of rendering the cutscene and thus has more time and power to dedicate to pretty graphics
Not him, but if you go to the original Adam technical page you will literally see they use custom things like custom lighting effects they specifically made for Adam, and they explicitly s they are not production ready, and they have not implemented them in engine yet.
