What are your thoughts on Trophies / Achievements?
What are your thoughts on Trophies / Achievements?
I don't think about them.
I was a trophy fag when i was a NEET now i have other things to feel graification
Depends on how they're implemented.
They're fine if they reward skill and dedication.
They're awful if they're designed around farming
fpbp
Whenever I get a trophy or achievement in game I don't even bother reading what it is.
Is there a point to playing a game anymore after getting all trophies/achievements?
I have no problem with it. I have over 100 plats myself and I usually go out of my way to get them all in games I enjoy playing
To enjoy it, perhaps?
Depends on how much you enjoyed it.
I've paid someone recently to do a trophy for me. Not even joking.
I like them
your taste is all over the place. do you play stuff specifically because trophies?
Yeah, I do. I'm a huge faggot like that.
I agree with this user. I'm playing through KH Re:CoM and they're just abysmal. Trophies should be fun things that a player would naturally do or would go out of their way (to a point) to do, and they should do something to reward the player for going all way.
I mean Bloodbourne gives you a theme for the platinum. It's not a lot, but appreciated
>it's bad to play a wide variety of games
I play stuff because I like video games
>all over the place
it doesn't seem that random,
mostly weeb shit with some of the bigger western releases thrown in
It does? I plat'd it forever ago and didn't notice a thing.
and obvious ps+ games
Easily one of the most important features to modern gaming.
Is it the ff9 one?
you had to set your account to receive promotional emails from sony
Damn, too late to get it now I take it?
I wouldn't blame him if it was.
Yeah, baby.
Ultimately they are fun until you relealize they are simply piecemeal rewards for full completing the game, and that your enjoyment shouldn't be based on whether you platinum something or not. So many things are autistically platinumed that its not worth it, and going for it is ultimately not worth.
>your enjoyment shouldn't be based off this
Says who?
I like them when they're well implemented. Nothing takes the fun out of achievements like having them thrown at you for the most trivial shit you could possibly think of. They have to present a genuine challenge or promote an alternate playstyle to take the player out of their comfort zone. Fuck devs who add meaningless and grindy achievements that just has you mindlessly farm enemy kills or currencies.
probably too late
is being into different variety of genres for games not a thing?
Cool
it was probably just bait
I hate bad trophy images
the FFXII were real disappointing, Ivalice has such great art and yet they used the fucking weird ass chibi shit
those uncharted collection trophies for the hardest difficulty seem absurd
It's the only thing stopping me from U1 plat, stuck on chapter 11
haven't attempted that on the other 2 games
You don't have to beat them on the hardest setting. I got the platinum on the first two games and never bothered trying out Brutal. Crushing is the hardest required for the platinum.
I like them, sometimes they're fun and they give you goals you can set for yourself when it comes to "mastering" a game.
I enjoy 100% clearing all games I really like, it's a neat little distraction.
sorry that was what I meant,
I don't think brutal is even unlocked until you beat crushing
trophies are fun
working on KH DDD
Some of them can be a bitch, but I like to check off games as 100% finished.
I used to be pretty into getting achievements on 360, but I barely played any games for a year or two and now I don’t even look at achievements/trophies in games anymore.
Pointless, unless they actually unlock something, like a costume/skin, weapon, ability, just something besides a message saying essentially just "good job, here have nothing."
>finished almost every achievement on hotline miami 2
>last one to get for 100% is genocide
>think i'm more than halfway done
>24k/50k kills
Yeah fuck farming for achievements.
nothing wrong with tasking yourself to get the optional achievements because you want to
cheevos are only bad when they're the "congrats you pressed start" ones
>Mgs Ground Zero
You actually bought the demo?
I never understood the "achievements thrown at you for nothing" argument. This never happens to me.
Usually when i complete a game I'll have 80/1000 if that. I check the list and its a whole bunch of autistic "upload to youtube" "send friends CALLENGE MODES" "play with a dev or get their aids from someone else" "collect 10 of this meme", "collect 500 of this meme", "bonus achievement for all the memes!", " 5 times" and shit like that.
I've never been flooded with achievements during normal play.
well memed
In my defense, the PS4 launch was awful
it's been on sale for pretty cheap desu
achievements for things like pressing start or finishing the first level are to see how many people actually play the game
I like when they work as a sort of official self imposed challenge, anything else is useless
Get a trophy, or get a life, bing bing wahoo boy.
This
100% achievements is a fun bonus to go for in games that I enjoy playing.
>those multiplayer games that have hundreds of achievements that lower your completion rate
Buying Orion was a mistake.
A nice side thing to do after I've beaten a game and if I liked it enough.,
I don't care about them at all.
I may have hundreds of hours into a game and have like 10% of the trophies.
I am more interested in things like hidden bosses and secret weapons.
