I play rock band 4 rivals

Guitar Hero > Rock Band

Guitar hero was pretty good but the graphics pissed me off.

Rock band looked so much slicker.

Is Rock Band 4 any good? I figured it was Guitar Hero Live tier shit.

For some reason, guitar hero felt a lot more satisfying to me. Seeing a long string of notes get hit perfectly felt so good.

I don't get the same feeling when I play Rock band.

I liked GH more but Rockband was good, only thing i hated was its star power thing, couldnt see shit during it

I always felt like Rock Band was the sterile antithesis to Guitar Hero. The interface is slick and the graphics are higher fidelity, but at the same time that just doesn't feel like rock'n'roll.

Also, the DLC setup for Rock Band was annoying, since pretty much only 2 has a solid on-disc setlist. Besides that, you're spending upwards of $60 just to flesh out a decent playlist, whereas GH discs went on discount fast enough that you could get over 100 songs for

Gh>>>>Rock band. I give RB props for being first with the drums and all but the way the songs were noted in GH was far superior. It was written by actual musicians.

Both are pretty good. The 2nd game for both was my favorite.
Guitar Hero was overall a bit better.

They were OK. They're not keysounded, but they're playable regardless. It's too bad they didn't go the GFDM route on the games and appeal to the hardcore players that way rather than try to make them into real instruments, which was never really the point to begin with.

So many fond memories with by best mate playing Guitar Hero 2 on Xbox 360 split screen

Anyone played GH Live? I saw the guitar bundle at Gamestop for $20 and was curious to check it out. But I figured for that much I could hunt down the old games on PS3 along with a guitar and just play that instead.

No; like this, for example.

I have. I got it for that much as well and I enjoyed it. The guitar isn't too annoying to use and the live concert campaign set-up is kind of nice.
Surprisingly, the GHTV mode is still functional, though nobody is there.

It's alright, but getting used to the layout is a steep learning curve. Beyond that, it's pretty fun, and for $20 that's not a terrible deal.

One of the things that made me question getting it was the soundtrack. It's absolute dog shit isn't it?

GHTV seems to have better tracks, but I guess that's online only? Is there no way to download those songs and play them offline?

Its amazing fun when you have friends to play and keep improving with

gh3 is the only good one
yes i played the console versions before i had it on PC with custom songs and yes the port is an unoptimized piece of shit but at least it works.

rockband is better for normies / friends
gh was more for stepmania/DDR autists, i think
i felt like hit detection was more rewarding in later GH than later RB
gh3 hit detection is trash but thats why i like it so much, i can full combo shit i wouldnt normally be able to do, lol

most GH:WT charts were better than RB equivalents, but yeah.

i only tried a demo in the store, took a while to get used to the new guitar, and too much flashy bullshit all over the screen (on PC I modded it so it was just the track, no stupid audience cancer and visuals distracting me), but if you can get past that, it didnt seem bad...just too little too late.

im pissed we'll never get a good amplitude agin.

Is Rock Band 4 any good?
after a lot of updates it's ok now

> I figured it was Guitar Hero Live tier shit.

it's not that bad

rb1 has the best setlist tho

rock band fanboy incoming

it's alright but pales in comparison to the earlier rb games

rock band has a much stricter timing window, which in some ways makes it more "skillful" but also feels more frustrating when you're just a tiny fraction off one note in a string of hopos and miss the whole thing because of it. since gh is more forgiving it can also straight up more fun in that regard

that's an interesting perspective, most people i've seen didn't like how gh released so many different discs and liked the rb "a la carte" dlc model more

are you shitting me? as someone who's been charting gh/rb/fof/ps/whatever songs for years, guitar hero's charting was straight up fucking stupid a lot of the time. ridiculous overusage of 3-note chords as well as retardedly uncomfortable chord progressions, mixing multiple guitar parts playing simultaneously into one chart, randomly, charting instruments besides guitar onto guitar, just flat-out overcharting solos and shit. and granted, smash hits wasn't developed by neversoft, but who could forget the thunder at the end of raining blood being charted as a fucking five note chord?

rock band has had some "retard ricky" moments like the solos in pulse of the maggots, but as a whole, rock band's note authoring is far superior to guitar hero's, and it's also immediately obvious that the majority of harmonix's staff is made up of musicians or generally musically-inclined people, especially considering that the majority of their games involve music.

Eh, kind of. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_in_Guitar_Hero_Live
GHTV is online only, and I don't think you can get them for offline.
Playing Bangarang was oddly amusing.

Anybody will over 1000 rock band songs want to join my crew?

xbox one

...

PUT ROCK BAND NETWORK UP FOR RB4 AND STOP RELEASING 0 DIFFICULTY POP GARBAGE
REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

rbn never evah

>that's an interesting perspective, most people i've seen didn't like how gh released so many different discs and liked the rb "a la carte" dlc model more

I dunno, it just seemed like GH discs ended up going for cheap very quickly after launch, so you could snatch up a whole mess of tracks for much cheaper per track than RB, plus loads of tracks in RB just ended up being stuff that was already in GH. Also GH guitars were far better than RB strats.

Should've supported Rock Band 4 for PC kickstarter.

>playing RB with an oculus rift on
How is anybody supposed to jam like that?

Heres my crew

I already have rock band 3

Those were two different things.

>I dunno, it just seemed like GH discs ended up going for cheap very quickly after launch, so you could snatch up a whole mess of tracks for much cheaper per track than RB
the flip side of this is that having so many different discs/versions of gh and rb is what caused the market oversaturation that killed the western rhythm game "fad"

but it's definitely true that, even if the disc was going for full price of $60, it's worth as long as there's like 30 songs on it, and since the prices dropped it's an even better deal

>Also GH guitars were far better than RB strats.
i can agree with this in general, however the wooden strat replica for RB is probably up there with the gh3 les paul and gh2 xplorer. i picked one up and i have trouble going back to anything else. the stock strats are pretty shitty tho
