Does Sup Forums like Stardew Valley?
As someone who loves Animal Crossing, but has never played a Harvest Moon game before, would this be worth picking up?

Does Sup Forums like Stardew Valley?

I couldn't get into it. Very obscure game to me.
Why would you get it for the switch?
Played it last week, has that annoying "just one more day cycle" that keeps pulling me in. I don't find any reason to keep playing it after 2 years in-game though.
I have the game on PC. I would like to get it on Switch but the devs have said that PC will be the first to get multiplayer so I'll get it later.
I'm kinda bad at setting goals for myself, so Stardew valley didn't last as long for me as it does for some.
I just got a wife, made a bit of a farm and then didn't know what do work towards.
I did get 60 hours out of it
You can change the portraits in the PC version. I may end up getting it on the Switch the next time I want to play it in my bed or something.
It's fun. But keep in mind that it's very grindy and you will essentially be repeating the same tasks day after day. But it still somehow manages to be entertaining.
Its really good. I have like ~120 hours in it so far. But im holding off on every urge until multiplayer comes out so me and my friend and can just go to town
While I already own it on steam I'm still getting it for the switch because I loved playing harvest moon games on the gba, so to me a handheld version is my preference.
Try playing a harvest moon game, it kinda different.
animal crossing is pretty casual and have no timed goals.
In harvest moon and related games, you can get buttfucked if u take you time sometimes.
not really sure if in SV its the same, but whatever.
I wish the dev gave more love to the characters, having dialogue start repeating after about a week really irks me. I really like the gameplay and mechanics but the characters are so shallow compared to Harvest Moon or Rune Factory that I just can't seem to get into it.
Cause it's literally perfect for it
The idea of having SV on the go is really tempting but I don't know if I can go back to playing without mods at this point.
Honestly the game feels very shallow to me. There are lots of things to do but if you pursue any specific one too long you quickly realize it doesn't have very much depth. Also the systems don't seem to interact much so the reason for doing anything is basically "because it's there." I suppose based on what I've heard about the creator that was probably by design, but I think that kind of philosophy is misguided and the only way it can sort of work is if each system alone has enough depth to carry the game, which again they don't.
Can anyone download it for switch yet?
It's a poor man's Rune Factory. Why wouldn't I just go play RF3 or 4 instead?
Did he ever update it with more content after the second year?
>As someone who loves Animal Crossing, but has never played a Harvest Moon game before, would this be worth picking up?
AC is pretty chill by comparison, but yeah go for it dude.
>no mods
At least a portrait mod, please.
yeah, that would be good, the normal ones are shit.
We all know what kind of mods Sup Forums would be installing if they let them
did the guy ever finish this shit
How does this compare to the original Harvest Moon?
IT IS PAST MIDNIGHT, WHERE THE FUCK IS IT!?
Is the game really worth that gif or all caps? It's so old and it's just a port of a pretty mediocre game
Are switch owners really this starved for content?
Any reason to play this over Story of Seasons? Have this in my Steam library and looked at the waifus in the wiki, hated all of them.
Tomorrow at 9 AM PST/12 PM EST
Not starved for content, just excited for maximum overcomf, it's been a while since I played stardew and it being portable sounds fantastic
i prefer sos 3ot but i guess some people like SV more.
>tfw this portrait mod will never be finished
We just want a Harvest Moon, since this is all we get for a year or more it'll have to do. Same with Animal Crossing, that'll be out in a year or two but until then we're eating what's delivered.
fair 'nuff
Stardews has a bit of the rune factory other stuff to do, is not quite as stuffed with inane filler as the mainline harvest moon became, but it's character presentation is weaker (and if you already hate the waifus in stardew your not going to get a ton of evnets to sell them to you)
story of seasons no subtitle has pretty good wiafus but a shit town layout and devolves into squatting simulator as you land baron hoard shit and only sell in huge batches to steal fields from other farmers.
trio of towns has 3 towns worth of festivals/aesthetics, much more effort on personality with the entire towns overall, and again solid waifus.
if your coming in from purely nsotalgia/attachment tot he SNES.gba etc Harvest moons stardew will sate that enjoyably. if you're rune factory era fan the character quality of stardew will stand out as wekaer
Gameplay is better, characters leave a lot to be desired in terms of how fleshed out they are.
Never really been that big a fan of Rune Factory and stuck with Harvest Moon from start to end. Guess it was just a mediocre purchase. Thanks m8.
Not sure if want
i want to throw maru tied with a boulder on her back on the ocean!
Well, the Switch version doesn't have any weight gain mods.
agreed
i'm like halfway through my 2nd year on my save but i started playing online games again so i can't bring myself to play singleplayer stuff
did they release official multiplayer yet?
>inferior ports are perfect the switch
I agree
Should I get Stardew Valley or Story of Seasons: trio of towns?
This. Its kinda like New Leafs dialogue problem where all the characters have been pretty much neutered compared to previous Animal Crossing games.
Stardew Valley or Golf Story?
sos 3ot, but thats personal opinion.
AC at least has the excuse of having a shitlot of villagers.
SoS. Keep in mind that you should be able to hack your 3DS if you haven't already. SV is piratable as well, if you want to try them out first.
Stardew Valley if you're not that big on golf games. If you are big on them then the choice is obvious.
Is it out yet?
>inferior
>is the same
Thanks for the advice anons, I will go for sos.
Meant to reply to you too in saying thanks for sos advice.
np
Most important question is... who you made your wife?
Multiplayer on PC fucking when?
>Portrait mods
>Emily doesn't have red eyes
You dun fucked it up
Is there a game that's basically a more complex version of Stardew Valley? It's my first farming sim or whatever and I'm kinda disappointed how straightforward it is to minmax everything.
>started going for abigail
>haley is pretty cute tho
>leah seems pretty independent
>penny gives the girl next door vibe
>marry abigail so I can say I've done most of what the game can offer
>read wiki, none of it matters because aside from the text, they all practically behave the same
>being a minmax autist in fucking Stardew Valley of all games
There's no incentive to do anything else because all the elements are shallow and half-baked. The only thing the game has going for it is the comfy factor but even the aesthetic elements are limited.
