>Can't find a game in 5+ minutes
It's dead isn't it lads?
Can't find a game in 5+ minutes
seems like that's the case regardless of the number of players. Beta was like that and then post beta was impossible to find solos and now it's not nearly as bad. It will grow once ranked matches start showing up.
people prefer slower competitive games.
They took too long to release the free version. Overpriced early access that no one will care when it goes free.
Does it at least have bots?
Never happened to me. I'll always wait less than a minute, plus my pings are below 40.
>They took too long to release the free version.
It's already released, dumbass.
>Arena Shooter
those are always DOA
>no community-run dedicated servers
>company run matchmaking instead
It was DOA and you were a fool if you didn't see it. A game like Quake, even watered down 'MOBA' influenced Quake can't survive on that pathetic multiplayer model. It needs servers and it needs mods or it is less than nothing.
the real problem is that quake 3 is still flatout just better in every way.
>no instant gratification
>ruthless competitive system that doesn't give participation rewards
>attaining greatness is the reward after hard work and years of training
>tried to soften the above for nu kids on the block
It is not something nu/v/ and neo/v/ can understand.
They wasted the hype on pre-release, with Aussie internet i couldnt be bothered downloading so many gigs only to do it again later.
Now ive forgotten it was even out, and sounds like its not worth the download at release if the playerbase is so low.
Id play it if i could actually play it. Cant do shit while on ADSL2+ and my only options are wait until late 2018 or move. Id be open to buying a second phone line and bridging the connections but no ISP in my country supports it.
this.
>too hard for casuals
>too broken and casual for hardcore players
It was never alive. I won't even bother listing everything that's wrong with it because the fact that it's built on an engine made by the team that fucked up the Xbone Halo thing instead of the perfectly good idtech6 engine says enough.
>matchmaking
There's your problem
Steam and Bethesda launcher users dont get to play with each others.
are you fucking serious?
No one asked for this game.
>play a technical worse version of Quake 3
>be suprised when its dead
I have nothing against innovation like adding moba abilities, but it just isn't enough and I could just play QL instead (which has mods for moba shit). Movement feels way too slow and capping strafe speed for all but 1 character was a mistake. The weapons are awful, because they look like they're from Q3 but have different handling. Abilities have too short of a cooldown (15 seconds cooldown on an ability that lets you teleport across the map, why?). Complete lack of customization by forcing enemy models or hiding the gun model (which blocks 1/4 of the screen). Worst of all the netcode is P2P shit. I don't understand why companies think it is important to reward people in 3rd world countries with a ping higher than 50. No. Use dedicated servers. If someone is lagging, then that's his fault. Don't fucking use clientside hit registration. Every game I've tried this piece of shit I had me and the opponent dying at the same time through hitscan weapons or random ass air RL hits or dying when I was already 2 seconds behind a wall.
>no instant gratification
It gives you XP and money.
>ruthless competitive system that doesn't give participation rewards
You get matched with equally skilled opponents at all times. There's no way to jump into a game that has better skilled opponents. Also you get participation rewards in form of meaningless XP and Money, regardless of how bad you play.
>attaining greatness is the reward after hard work and years of training
You're never going to get better at a game that forces equal skill levels. The only times you get good, is when you consistently play against good players, which never happens. Back in the day you'd play CS against people who were out of your league and who would stomp you for days, until you got used to what was required to git gud.
>tried to soften the above for nu kids on the block
By making a bad game?
>
You get matched with equally skilled opponents at all times.
Not user but you're fucking wrong. I played against a player that I could GOOGLE and find Quake tournament history on in my first 10 games. For money. Thousands of dollars.
I should never have to play against a professional in my first two hours of gameplay and if I do, he better not be playing that faggot Anarki.
