What is the last truly great single player game you played?
Not "kinda good" or "kinda fun" but truly great.

In my opinion, metroidvanias are the very definition of a videogame.
GTAV, first run of the story.
The second run revealed the lies.
Nier Automata? haven't played anything single player for awhile
Dishonored 2
Mafia II
what do you mean the lies
Shadow of the Colossus
Trails to Zero although I had to deal with a very awkward fan translations. Working on learning moon and I plan on replaying that shit as intended.
I kinda agree, it was great.
Bloodborne, I guess. Before that, maybe Bastion. Truly great single player games are hard to come by now. Before Bastion, there were a few per year that were truly great. I just can't really think of a recent game that felt worthwhile.
Solitaire.
Dark Messiah
Sonic Mania
Before that, Nier Automata.
Ace combat 0. And it was more than great, it was fantastic.
Playing through Sen no Kiseki III right now.
Sonic Mania, if you don't personally count Samus Returns as a "truly great" game.

All the subtleties they didn't let me follow up on

>Trevor fucking runner girl
>no further Franklin and Lamar antics
I'm playing through a few of Sup Forums approved games right now but the last GREAT game I finished was Child of Light. I'm playing through Sonic Mania, Dark Souls and OoT currently
Darkest Dungeon
Fuck that DLC though
Tekken 7.
Such a fresh breath of air to be able to play games vs AI while I'm offline and still be able to unlock content that most games limit online only multiplayer to. I hate this trend of online only modes where you must play them in order to unlock anything. And Tekken does it even better by giving you bots. Regular single player campaigns in other games are very limiting. Most enemies just sit and wait at their spawns for you to come kill them and complete some quest. Games like Tekken 7 and Quake Live don't require you to play online and either everything is already unlocked or you can unlock it just the same as if you were online.
Dark Souls
Yes, I play single player only because cracked copy.
Nier Automata
I can look at every individual asset of the game and it would make the game sound like absolute garbage, but for whatever reason, it just did something for me. I want more RPGs like this, it feels like a much older game from a more innocent time of RPGs with goblins and wizards and shit, but without the shitty turn based combat.
This game so much, too bad it triggered my anxiety of dying and thoughts of nhillism
Doom, the new one
Dying Light count? I really liked it, I cant say its the best thing ever because people hate zombies or something, but as someone who hates that shit too I fucking loved this game and its DLC. Every game can be improved with a kick button, ragdolls and high platforms.
Oh shit this nigga bringing the heat
N:Automata
Megaman x4
that game is super fluid I can dash jump all day
Nier: Automata
Underrail
Hollow Knight
styx 2

I would have said cloudbuilt if not for the defiance ending soiling it all
As it is probably darkest dungeon
Rabi-Ribi
BotW, W101, and Bloodborne are the lastest 3 that comes to mind.
>all these people saying nier:a
How is one of the most mediocre P* gameplay games truly great? It was a massive dissapointment for me.
>weeb shit
>being good
ahahaha kys
You're right, Rabi-Ribi isn't just good, it's amazing.

SOMA
While the plot isn't the deepest thing ever, the fact that they took some basic philosophical topics of discussion and made an entire game around them is what made it so great in my books. The setting was just overall good. I went in expecting Sci-fi Amnesia: Electric Boogaloo and was quite positively surprised.
Of course, if you're not into walking simulators and WORDSWORDSWORDS you'll disagree.
Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song. Saruin is exactly the kind of final boss you want in an RPG. He's not an FF6+ final boss that can barely hurt you but is hyped up with overblown music.
The Talos Principle.
