AA

a

Like I give a shit just make a good game

BBB

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

lol virgin

90s gamedevs aka garage programmers

The only indies that got that right so far were Almost Human.

>When asked about the best games ever made, will talk about the ones he made and he will be right

Studios too big to be called indie but too small to be called AAA are the best
If I can only choose one of these two, indie I guess

>carmack
>chad
He's quite possibly the opposite of chad

>carmack
>not the greates chad to ever live

The guy could easily knock you out without a problem. I ain't even shittin you:

>implying that he hasn't obtained chad status over the years
Look at him and laugh

I get that the guy on the right is supposed to be carmack, but who is the virgin of this image?

AAA for established genres and formulas
>+Keep refining tried and tested games and genres we know and love
>-May get repetitive and sometimes lazy/greedy
Indie
>+Offers the weird, unique game concepts that game companies dared to try back in the days of good ol' gaming
>Often become tainted by politics and SJW

Basically, I think both complement each other

>Programmed most advanced engines of his time
>Ate pizza and lifted, still got swole
>Deported Mexicans before it was cool

how the fuck is he not chad?

Indie

AA master race
>tight net group of friends
>can do more with others
>Is not held back by executives
Literally the way games are meant to be developed.

Carmack is one of the few autist chads in existence. Truly 1 in a million.

You don't recognize a specific virgin because (nearly) all indie devs look and act the same.

It's an archetype, but also an accurate specific description because they are all so basic.

so basically anybody that looks like phil fish

Wait, there are AA studios?

I thought it was only AAA (Mega corp games studios) and Indie.

What's the difference, user?

AA is a group of about 10-30 people without a major publisher employing them. Id software back in the day was exactly this.

I'm not that user, but I think he's referring to studios like:

>Troika Games
>Those guys that made Pillar of Eternity
>Possibly Paradox and Devolver

>Good thing
>Bad thing

This meme used to mean something

love this shit lol

Ahh, so devs like Yacht Club Games, Way Forward, Mercury Steam, etc.

Basically, all those larger studios that aren't Ubisoft, EA, Activision, Nintendo, Sony nor have any contractual obligations/affiliations with the aforementioned, right?

>made game engine from scratch
>looks perfect and knows this
>has an actual job
So that Chad is basically Nenecchi?

AA if allowed, Indie if I have to choose between just the two categories. I'm not a graphics whore, value rough novelty over refined sameness, and I don't get pol-triggered by gay characters. So I'd rather pick 3 or 4 well reviewed quality indie games that interest me over 1 well reviewed but bland and focus tested AAA game.

Can someone make an au-Todd (opposite of nu-)?

AAA

Unity is a legitimate development platform and I think that you all should give the people who create games in it a little more respect...

I love sucking big fat AAA cocks.

>Unity is a legitimate development platform and I think that you all should give the people who create games in it a little more respect...

name checks out

Whichever one makes a good game.
Indie can strike lucky sometimes but it has to stand out against hordes of shovelware and SJW crap because anyone can theoretically make a game.
AAA is too often focus tested, appeals to the lowest common denominator and doesn't even always have the benefit of better production values anymore since too much of this crap looks like it's a decade old due to diversity hire teams and console restrictions but it can sometimes yield a decent game with high production values that an indie title just couldn't have.

AA would have been what we called middleware in previous gens. Studios that pump out games that have that nice middle ground where they have money to do something substantial but not so much that they have to sacrifice risk taking and originality. Stuff like the Timesplitters or Burnout games before they were bought by EA. Funnily enough Rockstar were one of these companies before their success skyrocketed.
