never played metal gear before, and am planning on starting the first game in a few days. should i emulate the original ps1 version, the gamecube remake, or is there some other remake thats im not aware of that is the most superior version?
Never played metal gear before, and am planning on starting the first game in a few days...
The original. The remake is entertaining but isn't the right way to play it first time through.
PC. Also the game is fucking garbage.
The first game is amazing, the trilogy is great fucking enjoy one of the best game series ever made
Emulate PS1, any other answer is wrong.
...
Emulate / buy the original from PSN Store!
Play in release order.
You will need PS3 to play all of the MGS games (namely 4), and the MGS HD & Legacy Collections would be the easiest way to get ALL of the games, easily, and on a single machine.
twin snakes is the definitive version
Remake. Any other answer is blinded by nostalgia.
PS1 original is the only valid choice.
If you are not going to play the first two, 2D Metal Gear games, then read their summaries via the MGS1's "Extras" section, in the Main menu. Do also check the "Briefing" files. Spam the Codec whenever you see something new or get stuck.
You may wanna consider playing the original on Easy. Being a late-90s game, it can be quite unforgiving for rookies.
My very first MG games were the NES port of MG1 and the Twin Snakes, and I would not recommend either one of them for anyone.
twin snakes is the best though
MG1 and 2 are must plays though, if you're doing a full chronological playthrough (recommended).
>a bloo bloo Twin Snake made muh super serious and mature game into a comedy
ps1, any other choice is wrong and twin snacks is even wronger
>rookies
Those eyes...
Is this a game for cats? Can't see shit. Colors also seem drab as all fuck.
that's just how shitty and flat TS looks like.
All of the original's cold, high-contrast looks AND sound is lost. The characters look anorectic and waxy.
Play Metal Gear 1 and 2 for the MSX which are included on disc 2 of the PS2 version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence which you can emulate.
He said he played the NES port.
>Definitive
More like John Woo's version.
they are also included in MGS3 HD's main menu.
Thus, the HD Collection holds 5 games, and the Legacy Collection 8.
Oh right. Only played the Subsistence version. Forget the NES was lousy.
DO NOT PLAY TWIN SNAKES UNTIL YOU HAVE PLAYED THE ORIGINAL
Twin Snakes is Otacon's view of the events of MGS1 in my headcanon.
THIS, STRONGLY THIS.
I ALSO AGREE WITH THESE TWO DIFFERENT INDIVIDUALS WHO HAPPEN TO SHARE MY OPINION.
