looks like a high quality game, judging by the picture.

You would be right.

Anything think they can make a sequel anymore?
What's aquaplus working on now anyway

Sup Forums is too young to remember

Did the new games get translated? Been thinking about replaying the first, it's been so long.

Yes. They're on Vita, PS3 and PS4. I think vita / ps4 only in the west.

Twitter messages from Aquaplus hint at a remake of the first game and a prequel.

>Fully naked
>Kills everyone who sees her nude
>Her father and the people closest to her see her nude and in a murderous rage
That ending to the first (second) game was just terrible/awkward.

Aruruu is best girl

Why do they have white triangles on their head

I need an epilogue or sequel or another game set in universe because this ending was just too fuckimg unfair. Christ when the first games music started playing at this scene I fucking lost it. I just want more fucking Haku my dudes, Aquaplus better fucking deliver.

they're ghosts

Wouldn't they be over their foreheads then?

theyre double ghosts and it has to remain symmetrical

The first anime was a huge surprise for me and I loved it. Enough to play the games. The action scroller game for Utawarerumono was the best.

Haven't watched the second anime or played its games because I heard it just turned into ecchi pandering.

Truth.

The first one was an eroge though.

>tongue slightly sticking out
Why is this so good

Because it's playfully teasing you

But aside from a handful of sex scenes, it was a serious story. Which is why the anime was able to adapt it without any sex very easily. The new show seems to go out of its way to focus on bath scenes and ecchi.

I want a sequel just to see if Kuon and Haku meet again for real. The most we got is this picture, and honestly, it just isn't enough for me.

Also, best track youtube.com/watch?v=L9n5S9O0QBk

This scene was probably the most tear inducing thing I've ever experienced.

Everyone I've seen or heard who gets to this scene at least gets watery eyes.

They're animal ears. I'm not sure what other series has done this type of animal ears, but they're probably the best kind of animal ears since they're like ear extensions, instead of moving the ears from the side to the top of their heads. And it still looks cute.

It also helps the character designer gave every character unique ears. Some are short, some are pointy, some have more than one color, some are extra fluffy, and the list goes on.

Then what the fuck is that thing in the op? What animal has fucking triangles on their head instead of ears?

How many girls do you see in this picture?

It really is one of the most emotional scenes I've seen in a video game. The trilogy is just beautifully written and it's a shame it's not as popular as it should be in the west.

Where do I start with this series? What's it even about?
I've known of it for like a decade but I don't actually know what it is.

Storywise:
1 > 3 > 2

Gameplay wise:
3 > 1 > 2

It's a really great series as a whole and I'm glad it was fully translate.

seconding

Two. One really attractive side character and one woman with daddy issues.

With 1 and then play 2 and 3.

Are they all on PC?
Which one has porn?

The original game or watch the anime adaptation of the first game if you can't find a way to play the first game. Then play the second and third games. Just don't watch the second games anime as a replacement for the game itself.

Watch the 2006 anime first or play the PC game: sukebei.nyaa.si/view/1956086 (warning; lewd)
Then play Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception (Uta2) and then Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth (Uta3). You can either play on PS4 or Vita.

I really don't know how to tell you what it's about without spoiling the shit out of you.

1 is on PC, it's an eroge. 2 and 3 are not on PC and they're not eroges.

I like it, I just wish there were more stuff to do in part 3.

I want more stuff to do with the first cast

Thanks

weird to see my twitch username in an anime image

>Where do I start with this series?
The first one? Like any series?

>What's it even about?
Suikoden where every character is the same race: dog person.

Looks like all the posters from /vitagen/ is here. This thread is the most active one I've seen on Sup Forums in some time.

The only game that has H scenes is the first game and they're pretty minor which is why the anime and the later re-releases removed them. Now all three games have some lewder moments but overall nothing that bad.

The first game is only playable with a translation on PC while other two are PS4/Vita.

Anytime, user

The first game is on PC and is the only eroge. It also has an anime adaptation that people have said does a good job at adapting the story, but they fuck up the ending in a very important plot manner that ties into the latter games.

The second and third game are translated for the Vita and PS4. They have some fanservice scenes, but are not eroge.

They all have SRPG style gameplay. The second game doesn't have that much gameplay in it compared to the first and third game.

Cats. The thing about can ears is that they point forward, and sit on top of a cat's head. On a human, it would sit on the sides, and also point down.

Looks like a bad Sengoku Rance with some YIFF

We'll see more games in the series sooner or later. Either a sequel or a prequel that they've hinted at a few times in the past.

I'm halfway through the Mask of Truth at the moment. Just cleared the stage where you meet up with angery facepaint man.
It's pretty good all round, and I'm really liking the story, but I feel like the game has too many playable characters (most of them either kinda wonky like Fumirul or kinda shitty like Jachwaltd); also it feels like I'm being fucked with when it comes to things like Munechika's Trials and hidden crits, as I have trouble hitting the normal ones.

The story is basically about demihumans engaging in revolution and wartime politics, in a feudal Japanese-setting with some Ainu-flavour. Pretty well written, with some fanservice (and actual porn if you play the non all-ages PC version of the first game).

I'd suggest watching the 2006 Utawarerumono anime (play the original VN if you have time, but the anime is a very good substitute and worth watching if you feel like getting into the series ASAP), watch the anime OVAs if you feel like it, then SKIP the Itsuwari no Kamen sequel anime and go straight to the Mask of Deception on PS4/Vita. When you finish that play the sequel Mask of Truth.

2. You could probably slap Kiwryu on there too.

I'm going to buy both games and God Wars one day, just waiting for them to drop in price

2 years later i am still angry for what happened at maro.

mediocre shit that has waifus with animal ears.

Fumirul is probably the best character in the game once you learn how to use her heal/quick action skills and Jachwaltd is a really good dodge tank thanks to his stance skill.

The Munechika trials pretty much all require you to constantly get criticals though.

who is this cum slut, and which one of you fags are gonna cosplay that for me?

Fumirul is good when you know how to use her. Jachwald is a monster with infinite doges and 100% counter attacks I don't know how you could have trouble playing him unless he is seriously under leveled.

Go away, Raiko. No one likes you.

Who was he?

Genjimaru from Utawarerumono. He's a super OP character that you get for a few chapters.

Genjimaru from the original game.

I liked him. He had the balls to do what needed to be done when the world lost their god.

>The Munechika trials pretty much all require you to constantly get criticals though.
I'm aware. I can rewind turns if I fuck up the criticals, but what pissed me off specifically is the one that teaches you about gaining Zeal to extend the duration of Elemental Activation. You start that one with Atuy and Ougi, and Atuy is fine, but for Ougi it's literally impossible to clear it without hitting at least one hidden crit. Hitherto that's never been necessary, and it was driving me nuts trying to work out what I was doing wrong.

My issue with Fumirul is her atrocious Movement limit. It's fine if the stage is a siege where you're holding a defensive line, but for anything that requires pressing forward towards a goal she just gets left behind.

As for Jachwaldt he just does atrocious damage and I never feel any reason to bring him. Same as Kiwryu, but that's more because I hate the character.
I'd say my favourite units are the Twins and Ougi; Ougi for backstabs and basically instant Overzeal, and Twins because they're a meatgrinder with absurd range (especially since I gave them the +1 Movement equip which means that unlike Fumirul they can keep up with the advance guard).

Yeah you have to throw some movement items on Fumirul but she pretty much becomes the best healer in the game when you spam Echo. You need to put more BP in Jachwaldt's attack then because he can become a hard hitter with balanced stats and infinite dodges and 100% counter attacks like I said.

>movement items
I only have one +1 move equip and it's currently on the twins; and I'm pretty sure Fumirul only has 2 equip slots.
Did you grind for BP or something? I've been sinking all my BP into one stat for each character, and despite being 24 hours into the game I've not yet accumulated enough points to fill (for example) even half of Oshtor's DEF.

Kiwryu is good in the early game because of his fixed damage skill, but falls off later on since he has poor zeal gain and earth is probably the worst element in the game due to how many strong wind enemies there are.

Ougi and the twins are good, especially since the former can daze and the latter can curse.

The worst character is probably Munechika. Her damage is way too low and she really isn't as bulky as her character is meant to be.

there's a Kuon daki? shit I should get on that

Yeah you pretty much have to grind for BP in post game. You will not get very far without some grinding.

Her strength is that she can attack twice when not moving, heal and raise her health and cast immobility sigil to reduce damage even more.

There's even better.

UTW3 is my game of the year by far. Wonderful series that has an amazing story and characters with Haku being one of the best MCs I have ever read in a VN. Really hope they make a sequel, would be disappointed if they made a prequel or a remake of UTW1 which is definitely not needed at all

Plot spoiler:
Doesn't she only get some of those abilities in late game when she gets her mask back?

Oh yeah I forgot about that. Early game Munechika is indeed pretty crappy.

It's been awhile since I played the first game, and even longer since I watched the anime. I don't remember how it ended exactly but I thought things got wrapped up. Where do the sequels come in?

There's around 20 years and a body of water between the first game and the sequels.

Nice.

Things did wrap up after the first game and you could say that there really wasn't any reason for these games to be made, but they manage to tie it in very well, especially in the third game.

Is there any reason to not use Mikazuchi for post game? He's pretty much the most fun I ever had when controlling him and hitting all of the critical nodes.

I didn't even know you could use him in the post game. Don't see why you wouldn't.

A bit rusty but all I could remember was he hits overzeal if you hit all the critical nodes on his attack and has a movement plus self buff. Only flaw I could think off the top of my head is his lack of equipment slots unless you invest in it with BP.

It was pretty much the only way I could do red vs white post game and using hit and run tactics.

Pretty great, I'd rank it something like 3 -> 1 -> 2.

Why isn't this game series more popular? Way better than most of the games that are released today story wise

What other VNs are popular? Steins;gate and danganronpa maybe?

Fate and Muv Luv too

Umineko

Those are all on PC. Maybe it's because the newer utawarerumono ones aren't.

i want to sart playing Utawarerumono but is true that the game in the ps4 is a sequel? should i sart with the PC game first?

Yes, you must play the first one. You are doing yourself a disservice if you don't

Here is a link:

It's been so long since I even played the first one. I don't remember it leaving any room for a sequel though.

It didn't. They just came up with a "next generation" story.

Kamige

Oh. Guess I'll leave them in the backlog for a while then, need to replay the first one since I only remember very essential things like Karura and Touka being best girls and Hakuoro being a god or some shit as well as the final battle and the whole setting being a post apocalyptic scenario where scientists fucked something up with the cat people. It was pretty neat even with the kinda weird h scenes.

Actually the two new games are a direct sequel, even though they have a new cast of characters.
There are LOTS of references to the first game, you even get to visit the country of Tuskur multiple times and all of the main cast characters make a comeback along with Hakuoro and Eruru, along with an explanation of the first game's ambiguous ending.

>final fight is pure callbacks to both the eroge and its all ages version

Sounds good. I'm kinda disappointed that there's no ero and it's not on PC. I have a PS4 and Vita but the ultimate VN experience for me will always be with my laptop.

Does Utawarerumono work on Windows 10?

I really love Utawaremono but the ending of Uta3 was a fucking slap on the face to everyone who played the game and almost killed the franchise.

The previous 2 games were a massive build up filled with hope that this time Haku and Kuon will break the cycle and finally stay together but instead of that the author said NOPÉ! and we got Iceman 2.0 and Kuon being basically a demigod that loves haku but can't be with him.

Utawarerumono is literally my Balamb Garden.
Every time I start up the game, I feel like I belong there, like I came home and I'm welcome. All I need is to see Eruru's face and hear her voice and my loneliness is gone.
I start up the game once every few months, though it was years since I finished a playthrough. Just a few scenes from the beginning is usually enough to cheer me up.

Use spoiler tags.
And while it did suck, it somewhat left a hope for a sequel.
I also feel that a perfect happy end would have cheapened the experience.

Pretty good. Way better than the first and they also kept everything that made the first so special.

I loved it. Nekone best girl.

Yes. For all the flack win10 gets I haven't encountered a single game that didn't work and I play a lot of old and obscure porn games.

I'm sure you meant this one youtube.com/watch?v=lfrEjkoEMIw

Nekone best girl(singular)
Twins best 2 girls.
