Now that it's officially out. Thoughts?
I try not to.
It sucks.
The music is terrible.
It's ridiculously easy.
Most sprites have been dumbed down.
No Geno.
Like with the usual case of Mario RPGs remakes or otherwise these days most of the Koopas or Goombas with original designs in the older games look generic today. Whenever I see that all I think is Miyamoto looking over the artists' shoulders telling them to just make them generic cause he hates change.
It's been out for years now
Are you a Slowpoke?
It's absurd that they changed the beanbean koopas to look more generic while their skeleton versions still have the same design as the original. Moronic.
That said, I'm still a little interested in this since I love Superstar Saga and haven't played it in a few years. No 3D is a bummer though. On the fence if I'm going to pick it up.
As someone who was interested in the series, would this be worth picking up? I missed every single Mario and Luigi rpg and I want to get into it. If not, where's a good place to start?
The original or this remake.
The original Superstar Saga. There's nothing in the remake to justify a purchase, and I wouldn't want you to get the wrong idea about the rest of the series.
Alright, thanks for the advice.
This is still a great mario RPG and a great place to start. Some of the changes are fucking annoying but its still a good game. Also Bowser's Inside Story, definitely my favourite in the series.
Game's not nearly as fun due to enemies being beefier to create the illusion of difficulty. Also a ton of little changes that just bug the fuck out of me for some reason, and they didn't even add more moves for more variety in combat.
Play the original. The remake is nothing, but money grubbing.
>hey guys, people don't seem to like the new gimmicks we keep adding in these RPGs, what should we do? perhaps a return to form?
>no wait, I have the best idea
>let's remake something they liked, that is easy as fuck to emulate in this day and age, except make it inherently worse to one degree or another!
Never played SSS before. What's so bad about this remake? And how's Bowser's Minions?
Whew, I can finally turn on the WiFi on my 3DS.
Don't listen to the faggot, start with this one, then go in order and play the original at the end... You will find it sweeter that way
Nothing, don't listen to any faggots opinion that have not played the entire series... It is a good remake, original does have its charm with the art but the remake is a good entry point to the series
> Mfw just bought an original DS just to play Superstar saga again
>It's ridiculously easy.
I would argue it's less easy than the original at least, in the original I was taking down bosses in only a few turns, the remake felt a bit more balanced.
Some bad, some good but mostly bad.
Most of the soundtrack is pure ass, but some tracks are nice (Gwarhar Lagoon and the Chucklefuck Woods, for example.
The overworlds look fine, Joke's End especially looks really nice with all the auroras and stuff.
The enemy and character sprites are horrifically lazy, many of them are just copy-pasted from the other 3DS RPGs and some enemies have been replaced for no reason.
All in all, it's a lazy cash in and you'd be better off playing the original.
