Either LISA or Hotline Miami
What would you categorize Ape Escape music as?
I don't know, mate. I just enjoy the ost without putting a lable on the genre
Half of this
mine is LISA and cuphead :^)
>tfw i listen to 666 kill chop deluxe and broken tooth march on repeat for hours.
I don't think I've played through enough of Cuphead to rank its OST yet but the Carnival Kerfuffle music is fucking stellar
I love the Ape Escape ost!
Not totally sold on some of the originape remixes, but some of them are better than the originals.
I really enjoy the Shantae and the Pirate's Curse ost as well

I never even heard of this game, user
Sonic 2 and sonic cd(jp) are both good ost's. I fucking love the bonus stage song in cd.
All of the Tekken games before 6 and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. Electronica used to be so good in games...
This
The Tekken 3 arranged soundtrack is literally perfect

The sound of pure badassery
It's probably the most unique OST I've ever heard.
Also it's really neat that some of the songs in game and on the OST/Character Quest OST are slightly different.

MY MAN
Wow. I'm really surprised I've never seen the soundtrack brought up Tales threads. Short Circuit is fucking bonkers and I'm really digging it, at least for the novelty alone. The battle theme itself is pretty good.

I have this thing for low heavy and bassy metal
Short Circuit is probably one of my favourite tracks ever for that reason alone. In the game you are in a thunder monument and it's apparently out of control so it fits perfectly.
Yeah, most people agree it's the best thing about Legendia, but it's still not really talked about much for whatever reasons.

I love this track too, great battle theme.
Phantom Crash was an extremely underrated game, with a fantastic sound track.

Legendia was the last good tales, Symphonia killed the series. For me at least. I loved the side scroller combat from Phantasia, destiny and Legendia.
That's very odd to hear someone have this kind of opinion. What did you not like about Symphonia? The battle system was 95% fixed left and right with free run becoming a staple in Abyss.
That said Legendia is my favourite regardless. I think it has this wonderful charm and an incredible bond between the characters that people seem to overlook because of the "lacking" battle system.
symphonia was like you said mostly fixed side to side, but once you were off that main axis all bets were off. I've played most of the new ones throughout the years. I forget the name of it but the main character was Yuri Lowell, that one I didnt mind much. but post legendia I just can't get into the combat system. I even have a friend I play 2 player with frequently. I can't put an exact reason why down on my reasons, but it just feels like the 3D combat system was a huge cop out. The 2D system felt like it had some real life in it, once they added the third axis to combat the games just felt heartless. I even played some ToD:R which was enjoyable
I get what you are saying and Vesperia is the game you are thinking of. I've played (localized+tempest) game released and I must admit after Vesperia, maybe Xillia the direction of the battle system has really gone downhill. While it could be said for every game in the series, but it's more apparent in the later titles. They honestly feel like button mashers with no real connection between each attack to artes so it comes off really sloppy in real time.
Regardless I still play them because at the end of the day I still get some sort of enjoyment out of them. I just wish they would slightly shift back to their LMBS days.
Loving these. Never heard of Guardian's Crusade, but gonna check it out now. Looks like another hidden gem.
think final fantasy mystic quest, but for ps1. it was and rpg intended for entry level (kids?). however it's really fucking good.
Ape Escape, but pokeman rse is a close second
