What are some things everyone can and should do (or not do) to help fix this industry? Avoiding season passes and early access games is a good start, right?

Please stop buying consoles and perpetuating this asinine "exclusive" nonsense.

>not buying games pushing obvious political agendas (ANY political agenda) or developed by people carrying those beliefs.
>not going to websites that post articles about said political agendas.
>stop watching e-celebs. This encourages knowing games for show and talking about people rather than the games themselves
>ignore twitter like the plague, so companies drop their current tactic of being "friendly" through PR to win fans, and have to make good games to do so instead

Off the top of my head.

Well if people bought consoles for exclusives then no one would buy MS or Sony consoles

1. Support independent companies
2. Don't read reviews
3. E-celebrities are literally shills
4. Don't, under any circumstances, use Steam
5. Exclusive games are literally consoles flexing their muscles, if you catch my drift. They're not worth the hassle, and cost a fortune.
6. Don't buy Online access. It's something that's supposed to be free
7. Nostalgia is not an excuse to fully support a company (i.e. Kojima, Naughty Dog etc.)
8. Don't support companies that buy old franchises (i.e. Bethesda)

Just think, you idiot

Forgot the most obvious one:
9. Accept that video games are supposed to provide entertainment. They are the least artistic of arts, and one should never forget about it. Support what's fun, not what seems philosophical, as most often, it isn't. In other cases, it's usually trivial and washed down in comparison to literature and/or cinema.

Pic related is not art, as it isn't accessible to everyone, and rips off many other sources (i.e. H. P. Lovecraft)

bumping this thread. It has potential

this

>Don't buy Online access. It's something that's supposed to be free

Only one I dont agree with, and a point often brought up by not tech-savvy people.

The companies have to develop an internal infrastructure to connect their systems together. The internet isnt a magical place where everything is connected forever. It costs money to maintain, develop and improve this infrastructure. This is the origin of paid online.

>But they did it before!

When it was cheap. Companies get greedy, and raise prices for connectivity (not infrastructure) services to these companies, who pass these costs onto you.

Just avoid western games in general. By now, you should be able to tell at a glance which ones are worth playing, anyway.

One last point
10. If the politics of a certain company do not suit your viewpoints, do not support them, no matter how great the reviews say their game is.

You already pay for online access, that's true, but I don't think it justifies Sony and Microsoft limiting your experience and denying you multiplayer until you don't pay up.

you uhh.. didnt read my post at all, did you.

>You already pay for online access, that's true,

Nowhere in my post did i make that point.

>but I don't think it justifies Sony and Microsoft limiting your experience and denying you multiplayer until you don't pay up

Explained in my post.

Sorry, must have misread your post, brother. I'm a bit tired.

literally the only thing anybody needs to do is not buy games at launch, wait through the review phase for a couple of weeks until public opinion takes over and you actually know what the game is like. The biggest problem with the industry is people throwing money at things that aren't even out yet. If everyone just did this we wouldn't have half the garbage we put up with because developers would be forced to make sure their games are fucking good.

Naughty Dog must die. Literally c'est alle

one more bump

This thread is what Sup Forums discussions should revolve around. Not memeposting, not e-celeb threads, not /battlestation/ threads. Sup Forums epitomises everything wrong with the industry. There's no focus, no philosophy.

...

boycotting or pirating full priced games that have micro transactions

also, bumping this thread

Unironically this, and buying traditional games that aren't yearly cash grabs

>dont buy a game by anyone with any political beliefs

AAAAHAHAHAAHA

15 year old underage detected.

>traditional
As in board games? What do you mean?

> Don't, under any circumstances, use Steam
until gog galaxy gets full controller support I'm stuck

I think it's been confirmed that they're working on it. However, old games would not benefit from it; see: Gothic

you (Sup Forums) are pissing into the ocean
"voting with your wallet" stopped being relevant about 40,000,000,000 annual casualfag-who-doesn't-give-a-fuck dollars ago
this industry has completely left you behind and all you can do is watch it burn or try making games yourself

So in short you don't care about whether games are well-made or fun, all you care about is MUH POLITICS MUH SJW BOOGEYMAN huh

Ubisoft literally delayed the new AC because people were becoming bored

What is wrong with battlestation threads

I like them, but they belong on Sup Forums. Also, it's usually the same people posting

after 30 games? holy fuck
and it will still come out as same asscreed we've been getting for the past decade and it will still sell like stolen kidneys

This is a good one.

and now its back with a no game play mode

Youre a fag. Please Take the shitposting back to your jontron thread
I think he's just sick of hearing about political opinions and having dumb shit influence games

Not that user, but can you name any recent games that have obvious political agendas that are also worthwhile, entertaining games?

Don't pay for lootbox shit or Amiibos

Exactly. Because gamers are so dumb (including majority of Sup Forums) that they'll swallow placebo and believe it's fresh

*and lootboxes

good post

>mfw AssCreed literally beat Final Fantasy - a 30 year old franchise - in number of sequels in 10 years

kek

>exclusives are evil

I don't get the Steam-hate either, honestly.

Can't wait for the gog controller.

Wait out any and all AAA entertainment products until their priced accordingly and any form of Jewish trickery will disappear.

Good Old Controller
