Putting aside the nostalgia...

Putting aside the nostalgia, could you actually sit down and play Super Nintendo games for a few hours and have fun if you're used to modern games?

Yes

super metroid, mario rpg (which i never played and now get the hype) and megaman x.

everything else gets a fuck no tho

I probably could, I've never actually played many SNES or NES games. But I have played The Legend of Zelda for hours via emulation. I tend to play that game more than any modern game.

yup, I was born in the late '90s and still enjoyed the games even though I had no atachment to them

Yoshi's Island and probably a lot of platformers in general still hold up really well

You forgot the best Zelda game, and the best SNES game, ALTTP.

Yes.

Yes

That's a funny way of spelling Zelda 2

>implying modern vidya is good enough to overshadow the golden age of vidya
I always have at least 1 retro console hooked up to my TV. Anybody who thinks SNES-era games aren't actually good is underage.

earthbound and super mario are the shit mane

>earthbound
shit meme game

Why the hell wouldn't I? There are also tons of enjoyable games from the NES era, like Mega Man, Mario, a bunch of RPGs.

I think most of my time on the WiiU was spent playing modern games, but 1/3 was some of the SNES virtual games. Honestly I'd rather get Earthbound on Switch than a little box I need to plug into a TV, but it's still an okay little box.

Yes if you're not a total baby about the games having some semblence of challenge. Even then there's easy shit like Megaman X that's impossible not to enjoy.

Basically this. Vidya was still struggling to gain legitimacy in the public eye in the 90s. So devs really poured their heart and soul into the games they made because it was imperative to the future of vidya that it be seen as a form of art like any other.

No and anyone who tells you otherwise is a shill or a fucking autist.
I've played the entire 700 game catalogue of the SNES as a kid and even if I love Demon's Crest, King of the Monsters, Actraiser, ZamN and the such there's no fucking way I'll last more than 20 mins playing it.

yes because those games are different, they have a different feeling and different gameplay mechanics. I think the 16 bit gen made the 8 bit gen obsolete, but nothing ever replaced the 16 bit gen. The games that didn't aged well are the simulations, like some racing games or sports games or pseudo 3D games.

You sound like a faggot.

I'm an Xbox baby and I fucking love loading up an emulator and playing Langrisser or classic Zelda games.

I made the thread because I feel the same way. :/

Erm, Super Mario World is about one of the easiest games to play and get stuck into whether you're 4 or 40.

>being so much of a casual you can't enjoy a classic sprite-based game anymore

And you sound like you just got here in the morning and you are posting with knowyourmeme in a separate tab just in case.

That's why only normies buy the new SNES mini and such cashgrabs.
If you have either owned a SNES or emulator for that matter you have already experienced everything you could and even then there's quite a lot of remakes for other consoles like GBA so I don't see a point really.

>t. weeb

You might have ADD, friend.

Yes faggot now delete this stupid thread

Yeah. I love how the old Mario games just comped 1-ups at you like it was sushi and took them away just as fast.

>i have the attention span of a squirrel so that means the entire era is shit

>Being so obviously underage
>Actually posting this shit to pretend like you even care about 2d sprites when you are kids who play overwatch every day
>Trying to pretend you have ever played anything besides Mario and Metroid

>I've played the entire 700 game catalogue of the SNES
Lad...

Obviously you don't love those games if you can't even play them for 20 minutes. If you can't even figure yourself out, who the fuck is going to take any advice from you seriously. Great bait

Snes classic is ugly! Ugly!!

I still regularly play Super Metroid and SMW. So yes.

SNES? Yes absolutely.
NES or anything behind that? A very limited selection of games. Same with the 5th gen.

1 2 3 and 5 are the only gens that aged. Most of the games from those times are fucking rancid now. (Although for the 5th gen only 3D games were up shit creek, 2D 5th gen games are excused).

Yikes

>having the reading comprehension of a toddler with downs

Motherfucker, SNES games are TIMELESS CLASSICS. 16-bit pixel art ages like a fine wine.

Super Metroid
Super Mario World
A Link to the Past
Secret of Mana
Megaman X 1 - 3
Mario RPG
DKC 1 - 3

Probably a lot else I'm missing. I could pick up any of these games and play through them again and have a blast.

>cant sit down and play a game that isnt COD
>calling anyone else underage
kys

i have played and enjoyed ffiv-vi in the last year without ever playing them before, so i would assume so

>Replaying a game you have beaten several times across your entire life
>Over and over again
>Enjoying it every time

Only like 2 or 3 games make me feel like that and that's being generous.

Sucks to be you I guess. I have tons of games I love replaying.

>kys

When we were all teenagers posting here at least we tried to hide it you absolute waste of oxygen.
This fucking shithole man.

>imfuckingplying this game isn't just as fun as it was when you were 6

earthbound, chrono trigger, star fox and yoshi's island will be replayed until the end of time

The 2d to 3d jump made a lot of sub-genres go extinct or run to portable systems to survive...we have a lot of them coming back with the growth of indies (like pic related, it was in the last humble bundle) but there are still a lot of things who never got a "sequel"

sure

especially when I'm used to modern games.

...

Nigga please

Nigga I am always low key ready to speedrun super metroid

>ctrl f metroid

true blyats with good taste

nah, i'n a grown up gamer who only play cinematic mature experience games, colorful "games" are for children

I wonder if some people on Sup Forums actually believe this. Like, not in the meme way, y'know.

yeah, who plays Nintendo anymore, that shit is gay

[insert fedora picture here]

Hell yes.

The Snes Classic alone as some masterpieces on it.

Super Mario World is fun both for speed-running or 100% completing. Even the middle ground is fun.

Donkey Kong Country still holds up even if the graphics are janky by today's standards

Yoshi's Story is a fun laid back comfy platformer with amazing tech for the system. Instead of using the FX chip to make janky 3D like Star Fox, it uses 3D to enhance the 2D graphics and pepper in 3D in fun ways.

Super Mario RPG, Earthbound, and Secret of Mana and FF6 are great RPGs that alone net you a bunch of hours.

A Link to The Past is another masterpiece and that game is hours long

Super Metroid is one of the pieces that helped mold the Metroid-Vania genre and is another masterpiece.

Megaman X is another great game, and one of the best MM games ever made.

SNES is one of the greatest consoles ever made and a lot of it's library still holds up well. There are indie games still using the framework and game design philosophies till this day. Even Nintendo's rehashed Mario games still use designs with the SNES in mind.

Fucking easily.
Emulating isn't nearly as good as the real thing either.

(You) Hakusho

Nope, I tried and got bored real quick. I don't even buy sidescrollers, last one was metal slug on xbl. I played half the games already so it really didn't matter. I remember 100% lttp back in 2002 though and my last gba game was in 2005. I wasn't even interested in more ds games. I just stuck to nu-gen/online

It's hard to play without the fast forward function from emulators.

yes you dumb nigger

I don't really have fun playing by myself but I had a blast playing DKC, Super Mario All Stars, Turtles in Time, and Zombies Ate my Neighbors with my nephew. Reliving the nostalgia while playing with my nephew is the only way I can have fun with SNES games now.

Yes. Go play the Starfox games and marvel at how fun they are even though they barely run at all.

How did you hang all this stuff to the wall?

all great games

>I flipped through a rom pack and couldn't get into it because I was raised on wagglan gimmicks and I have the attention span of a tennis shoe
>old games are shit!

Assuming you didn't steal it, yes. Otherwise it would be the same thing as downloading a SNES ROM and playing it for half an hour before forgetting about it.

hang what?

The table, the SNES. Must've used a lot of glue, or nails.

I would say yes, since I am playing Mario RPG, Super Metroid, Super Castlevania IV, and Yoshi's Island for the first time, and I am enjoying myself.

yes.
played earthbound yesterday for 8 hours and kirby super star for 2 hours.

Chrono Trigger and Zelda Link across time's just as good to me. I got no problem playing it.

no, you sound like an actual faggot

Fuck.........that was good

Absolutely. I didn't have a SNES as a kid (Genesis household) but playing some of the games through the Wii U VC was great. Super Metroid is probably the stand out game I could always come back to and I was curious about SM RPG since I really enjoyed the first three Paper Mario games. Earthbound is interesting and I'm amazed how it had an instakill on weak overworld enemies but later RPGs didn't implement this more. I had Donkey Kong Land on Gameboy and I liked the graphic style, and Tropical Freeze was a blast, so the original Country is a solid point if I want more. I missed out on early Megaman X after starting with and still loving X4 and X5 on the PS1, and I was hooked on the original once I finally played it a few years back through the virtual console.

depends on the snes game

Why only 21 games?

Why no Terranigma, Chrono Trigger or ActRaiser?

Why no shmup´s like Axelay, Gradius 3 or UN Squadron?

I literally played kirby super star and demon's crest yesterday after invading in dark souls 3.
It's definitely possible but not a lot of people do it

You guys forgot the greatest platform we of all times DKC and DKC2

dkc 2 for sure!

Yes, games don't become bad just because of the year. I bought a Raspberry Pi for emulation and I use it more than my switch and PS4.

I could go boot up F-Zero or DKC2 now if I felt like it.

There's no micro transactions or 10gb updates so it's already more fun

I can't but I know there are good games in there. The only pixel graphic video game I can still play for hours on end now is Red Alert 2

Super Mario All Stars was fucking GOAT. Kids don't get value game bundles like that anymore. Everything is microtransaction this and DLC that.

Have we really reached a point where Sup Forums users get turned off by playing 2d games? I could get it if we're talking about single screen 2600 games but it's tbe fucking snes, the system with arguably the greatest library of any console.

Weed helps.
That playing LTTP three hearts quest is adding a challenge I didn't know was possible.

I've seen kids on /vg/ whine about turn-based gameplay. I'm starting to realize how old I'm getting.

I'll admit I really wanted one. I watched my brother play many of those games but I hadn't. But then I learned to emulate and play everything up till the gamecube on a ps4 controller. Its just plastic junk op

ofc, i'm not some 1995+ retarded kid

You guys are fuckin nerds

I would say no, but I still occasionally "discover" or play games on the SNES that I didn't play in my childhood. I can't say the same for early 3D games, though.

I'm 34 and didn't ever own or play SNES games before my mini turned up last week.

been playing ff6 all week and love it.

Yes. In fact, I've recently replayed all the SNES Megaman games, 7, X1-3, and Super Metroid. Good games.

I sat down and played Dragon warrior on my Retro pi for 4 hours yesterday. so maybe if I was really hyped for the game.

derailing this shit thread

whats the best place to get SNES ROMs

emuparadise

Emuparadise took down their Nintendo ROMs
