So with the industry standard being having Youtube, Netflix, Crunchyroll etc on your console in recent history if it doesn't, do you feel that the Switch NOT having these things is a detriment or a focus on video games being better?
So with the industry standard being having Youtube, Netflix...
Its inevitably getting them. Hell Netflix supposedly already locked in Nintendo just needs to confirm it.
I mean hell the 3DS had them, why the fuck wouldn't the Switch have them?
I dunno, I really want them to add it. It feels like the switch is still in beta though, nothing weird about the whole thing surprises
It's not like Nintendo is using their own resources to make these things happen so it's a bit stupid, and by that I mean totally retarded, that we haven't heard a peep about these apps.
Day one Switchfag and I truly don't regret it, but shit like this, the MyNintendo rewards still not being available, no save back ups, and other stuff keep it from being a 10/10. Here's hoping they at least have eShop preloading in time to stop a major crash when Mario comes out but I doubt it'll happen.
I don't think it favors the switch to not have those services but I don't think it's a detriment either. Also, considering the retarded online structure that Switch has for their games, chances are that if you have one you also have a smartphone and can access all those services from there.
If the Switch had an online service more like the other consoles then we could talk about these other platforms being absent and the effect they could have on the console.
>Cruncyhroll
>industry standard
How does it feel getting fucked in the ass by a bunch of kikes? Did you know Crunchyroll removes the good encodes after a month and replaces them with shittier ones to save bandwidth?
I personally dont use crunchyroll, but apparently it matters to a lot of people. I didn't know that about the bandwidth though, that is pretty shit.
Then stop watching the shows they license to show the companies involved that you want them to move to a different service, like Anime Strike or HiDive.
It doesn't need that shit but when the 3DS, Wii U, and Wii all had it you gotta wonder what the fuck is the hold up.
Because it's on the company who provide those services to make apps for the Switch and I'd imagine all of those companies were erring on the side of "the Switch is going to bomb so no need to bother making an app for it"
It's a minor inconvenience because I have Netflix on my WiiU, my PS4, my TV, my phone, my tablet
Why would I want these apps on my Switch, it's plugged in to a 4K HDR TV and the built in apps take advantage of the TV.
And if I really wanted to watch those services on the go, I would just use my phone.
This, most 4k tv these days are also smart tv, and apart from the early ones that suck ass it's much easier to use netflix or jewtube directly from the TV rather than use a console.
Then again, I just have my main PC hooked up so I download everything and will never pay for netflix, but the option is there.
A youtube app on Switch would make sense though, parents these days use tablets as pacifiers for their shitty kids so they don't have to actually pay attention to them, a youtube app on a kids consoles would only make sense.
"A focus on video games" is not a fucking excuse to not have streaming apps on a console. For one thing, there's only a handful of worthwhile games on the Switch, so that focus has amounted to fuckall so far. The lack of streaming apps is a gigantic inconvenience for me. My Playstation has some weird compatibility issue with my router, so the ping is great but the download speed is shit. I can't watch Netflix on the fucking thing. So now if I want to watch netflix I have to unplug the switch or the playstation, plug in my wii U, and use the shit interface and mandatory tablet gamepad.
Just saying, but those apps will stop working when they're updated past your device's end-of-life. It's already happened with several.
I think it's critical that Nintendo not allow streaming on the console. It would be seen by the masses as a tablet that can play video games if that's the case and will no longer be taken seriously. It's the only true gaming console on the market right now, and I think that has a reason to do with why the Switch and the games are doing so well. I think it's sort of similar to the Gameboy/GameboyAdvance/DS. Those sold amazingly well because of good hardware and a good blend of Nintendo exclusives and other titles. I'm calling it, when Netflix/those other apps drop game sales go down.
My Little Drone Can't be This Deluded
you are a fucking retard
Be quiet babbys, you just want to use the Switch as a tablet to watch tv. I'm sorry you bought a GAME CONSOLE and not an iPad. Either refund it and get an iPad, or let Nintendo continue doing what there doing without being a babby about it. Nintendo knows what there doing.
There's plenty missing from the Switch that'll be added in the coming months, of-fucking-course they're going to add Netflix and all the other highly anticipated media applications, there'll be plenty themes as well, no doubt.
Massive detriment. Not to me personally but to anyone considering buying it for their kid. "Oh my son can't watch youtube on this? But this $50 amazon fire does youtube just fine..." and then they lost a sale.
>poorfag who cant afford a smarttv
It'd be nice to have them. It's not like Nintendo would have to work hard to include them. The Switch is supposedly easy to code, let the devs do all the hard work.
Using game systems for third party apps puts unnecessary strain on the hardware
I fell for the Smart TV meme 4 years ago. I'm stuck with the Yahoo! App Store with shitty versions of Amazon Video and Netflix so old it still uses the original logo.
It's a detriment. I can do more on my tablet than the Switch can.
It's something of an issue to the average consumer, but to not me or really to any of us here who isn't just trying to score console war points. I'll just bet that each and every one of us here has a billion devices already YouTube/Netflix/etc. capable.
I don't really feel anything since they're unnecessary. Never once touched those apps on other consoles since I have a computer and a phone.
This.
You should have a dedicated streaming box or something, you shouldn't be heating up and keeping your game systems on for hours to watch TV or shows or whatever. They're designed for video games.
Not if you're system isn't weak.
