How do games with no gameplay become popular in Japan?
How do games with no gameplay become popular in Japan?
Cute girls sell better than good gameplay
Isn't it sad how people there will spend hundreds of dollars to acquire virtual waifus?
Because of otaku with shit taste and 0 standards.
I could say the same about the west, although it is worse in the east. Loneliness and horribly busy schedule means games where all you do is occasionally click and collect cute girls don't do too bad.
Why is it bad to prefer waifus over gameplay?
But it has gameplay?
It sure is
>can enjoy waifus in games with good gameplay.
>Can read manga or watch anime with good stories and decently-written waifus
>Can download or watch pics of waifus
Playing a shitty game like Kantai Collection just because of the waifus is retarded.
Pretty much why the people who play this kind of garbage are retarded, there are better ways to enjoy waifus than playing kusoge.
But it's hardly time or money-demanding and you get to listen to their cute voices.
Isn't the same thing happening in the West?
I mean, didn't Gone Home win Game of the Year? And Sunset was praised pretty highly by game reviewers.
Abyssals aren't even recruitable so it fails as a waifu title.
You can listen to their voices in all the ones I listed to (except manga but seeing actual character interaction and growth is way better than listen to voices you can already find on the internet without playing the game) while skipping the garbage gameplay and get straight to the point.
>B-but it's free!
The ones I listed can be obtained freely if you have half a brain too and the time you're spending of those is not only giving you waifus(and showing you more than a jpg with voiced lines) but also gameplay/story/art of quality that are worth the time wasted over kusoge.
Why would the main antagonists be recruitable?
>game about collecting waifus
>can't collect some of the cute girls
They even have a nice portion of the fanbase who like them and the game isn't even gritty as fuck or anything so not being able to recruit them is just shitting on the whole collect-cute-girls concept.
It's anime. Defeat = reform = BFFs
But it's harder to appreciate characters and the fanbase surrounding them without experiencing the source material. Like you can't understand why Tokitsukaze is an annoying girl until you hear her constantly going "shireee, shireee, SHIREEEEEE" at you.
Because they're cute as hell, simple.
What does this reformation process involve?
i guess loneliness and desire for companionship never goes away and 3d is too much effort for too much trouble
Because as proven by comiket Abyssal doujin are better than regular boatsluts.
Arpeggio despite not a game did it right by making the boats all antagonists that eventually get reformed.
Being talked to death about the power of friendship
No need to appreciate one-note characters when I can be enjoying properly written waifus instead.
Also you can understand these simplistic characters perfectly just by reading the dialogue in the wiki of the game or just by interacting with the fanbase a bit(plenty of people do this in boorus without touching 2hu for example, same applies to this).
In the example you gave, I don't need to play the game to understand it, her voice is obnoxious and you can have a secretary in the game, just connect the dots and the weak punchline reveals itself, not worth playing a bad game just for this.
Headpats with kindness to a girl in need of love.
Lewd
Isn't this official art for Kino? Why is she so sexualized now?
It's not like KC has complex characters that you won't get unless you play the game like with a game with a proper plot. You'll understand the characters and 95% of the fandom's jokes with just reading the wikia.
But I still don't understand how U-511 became a total slut
>School beats you down until you are soulless
>Work beats you down until you have nothing left for your home life
Blame it on societal stress which is insane in Japan
She's a German ship who was transferred to the Japanese fleet. It's pretty obvious what happened, her personality changed as she got familiar with her new home and it's culture, also now you have 2 flavors of waifubait for 1 character. No need to play the game to get any of this(which isn't even something worth getting in the first place)
some people could say its worse to care about how others spend their wealth
I want to pet Sakura
>Max plus-egged Frost Demon
But why? I mean, they give away +eggs like candy these days, but still.
You must love jpeg artifacts
what's this from
Those are boys though
>not understanding why someone would +297 their waifu
Japan loves to grind to get status up.
Also smartphones and lack of time in house.
cause they cant date for shit
Kino no Tabi
>girl on the left
>massive right arm
>COPY THAT
>tiny torso and hips
The only part they got right was the ZR
here i fixed it
I meant that specific art. I can't find it.
>game has a hull upgrade system
...
but PUBG is the #1 most played game there
Only found this in the Kino thread
So what if they're boys?
Very cute boys
Moefag otaku are a larger market than video game otaku, and so you can get away with making a "video game" with minimal interactivity and sell bucketloads, as long as it has cute girls.
fucking germans making it weird for the rest of us
