What's the best time to start this...

What's the best time to start this? I just tricked the Leaden Key lady into telling me where to find people and not long after I got a the first quest for White March.

go down caed nua and see how well you fare against groups of ogres.
if you can take them, you can go to WM.

Generally, after you finish Act 2 and when Act 3 begins.
Act 3 is when the city is set on fire with riots and shit and you're told to leave the city.
After that, I suggest doing the dungeons underneath Caed Nua first, then do White March stuff.

After the trial is done, go to White March.

What's everyone's favorite class? I can't decide on what to play and keep restarting

IIRC level 6-7 is recommended for White March 1. And after White March 1 you should automatically be at a good level for White March 2.

Cipher and Druid are my favorites.

Monk if you don't like spellcasters.

Monk

Priest

Priest is absolutely fucking worthless in the first game since you don't have unique interactions with gods. I hope they fix that in second one.

Cipher sounded cool and relevant to the story. Are they better at being DPS or CC?

Priest sounded cool until I accidentally read a spoiler about the ending. I typically enjoy priests/clerics in games but it feels silly worshiping in this setting due to the ending.

Not op. But picked up most of the companions, and did a lot of quest around, now I'm L 7.8, and I'm just to go into the meeting at the temple.
But if I do both dlcs, won't the rest of the game be a cakewalk?

>Are they better at being DPS or CC?
They can do both. They have to be at least decent at DPS because doing damage charges their Focus, but most of their spells are CC-oriented and they have some of the best CC in the game.

>But if I do both dlcs, won't the rest of the game be a cakewalk?
When you start act 3 while being overleveled, you'll be given the option to turn on level scaling. Which is why it's a good idea to do White March before starting act 3.

Oops, second quote is for

I loved clerics in d&d, so I made one a few days ago, abandoning my end game rogue I haven't touched in a year.
Accidentally read spoilers and I dunno. But still, still think I want to continue playing priest in 2

I hope they add Priest of Abydon in the sequel. Abydon is best god.

Is White March worth the $30 bucks for both parts?

If you enjoyed the base game, I'd say it is worth it.

So if I play on hard, it's still be on hard difficulty, but with enemies more for for my level? I went to WM with my rogue, and I got the same question

don't mind me, just posting best character portrait

Better than base game, but obviously shorter.
It definitely will scratch that IWD itch if you want some of that.

Is it true that PoE is shit without the expansions? I can get it for cheap but not the whole thing.

>Expansions
>Plural
It's one expansion split in two parts.
Anyway that's false, but the expansion is better than base game despite being shorter.
I suggest you skip out until you can get both base game and expansion.

Guys, just beat the game, I'm told in the ending that Raedric comes back undead and devastates Dyrwood, my question is, did I miss a quest on this dude or what?

Yeah, in Twin Elms you get a quest that has you kill him again after he rises from the dead

>did I miss a quest on this dude or what?
Yes. Go to the tavern in Twin Elms, the one with ogres operating a lift.
There's a dude there that will tell you that Raedric came back as a vampire and slaughtered everyone except him to send you a message and that he challenges you to a duel back in Raedric's Hold.

Eeeeeh, oh well

>So if I play on hard, it's still be on hard difficulty, but with enemies more for for my level?
Yes.

Just started the game, are rogues good, or should I start over. My character is really fucking squishy and I'm getting killed a lot.

...

Rogues aren't the strongest, but still very good if used right. They're glass cannons, so you either want to use a ranged weapon (which pretty much just makes them worse Rangers) or babysit them to make sure they don't get stuck in the middle of combat. Let your tanks engage first, then use your Rogue to flank and/or run around the edge of combat to target squishy targets. Focus on DPS and you'll melt shit, but since your defenses will always be kinda shit you need to be careful

Monk.

It's agile, fast, has CC moves where you punch people into walls, and additional abilities added on in the White March that lets you uppercut-kick people into the air and almost Omae Wa Mo Shindeiru enemies.

Kinda want to do a PotD run at some point before 2 comes out, advice for fun builds? I'd still be using the normal party members

Melee wizard is pretty fun.

what does that entail?

Buff yourself up, cast Concelhauts Staff/Citzals Lance, stab shit to death. Cast other spells to flavor.

Concelhaut's Parasitic Staff at low levels, later on switch to Citzal's Spirit Lance. Add other buffs as desired. Fuck shit up with huge damage and good defenses due to buffs.

Or transition to grenadier wizard if you're out of staff casts. I liked the idea of going around and expanding your spellbook by killing adversary casters.

This art is too tumblr for me.

What's tumblr about it?

Josh Sawyer made a big deal about how they're putting in more interactions of that type (and in regards to Godlikes as well) in his latest presentation.
Could he be lying? Maybe.

I believe him when he says they'll add more, I'm just wondering whether "more" will mean "enough to matter."

Going from 10 lines to 20 won't make a big impact.

Honestly, the way the gods work has made Priests all the more interesting to me. Durance is a Priest of Magran and is outright on a hunt to slay her.

What do you mean latest presentation, do you mean about Deadfire?

They don't seem to be adding any new priest followings or paladin factions

If it makes you feel better, while you did miss out on a pretty cool fight, the ending with him slayed is still a bit gnarly. Pic related.

>They're taking over the role of evil colonizers from the white man
IT'S NOT FUCKING FAIR!

>almost Omae Wa Mo Shindeiru enemies
Almost?
>He didn't get the Bloody Slaughter talent
Exploding most of the enemies I hit with punches into gibs made me feel like the trust Monk there is.
Also, you forgot the ability where you make two clones of yourself to triple your damage output, which is even better than the kick.

There's also a human colonizing faction.

I mean it's the Italian nigger faction, but at least they're human Italian niggers.

I also noticed that, unlike the rest of my companions, Zahua didn't have a epilogue, did I also miss his quest?

I dunno, it just feels that way.

Zahua's ending is kind of fiddly. I'm not sure how to trigger his specific endings, but he does have a (rather neat) personal quest you should do at least.

How do you monk exactly? I'm pretty much deciding between monk or cipher

That's just one of the options user, if you leave Raedric alive he keeps order but is a tyrant.
If you pick his brother or w/e that dude was, he basically turns the place into mafia heaven.

Yes.

Yeah, hard to say.

rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/pillars-of-eternity-ii-deadfire.108836/page-403#post-5327175

Yeah, but they're more of a trading type of colonization. The Aumaua are straight up conquering, I believe.

The more you get hit, the more wounds build. Use wounds to cast your abilities. The average Monk has a lot of micro managing, but I found it very satisfying to play.

Advice that isn't in the description in monk.

>That's just one of the options user, if you leave Raedric alive he keeps order but is a tyrant.
If I recall correctly, it ends up painting the town in the best possible light compared to the other endings. Just another example of Obsidian kicking you in the balls if you go too goody-shoes on them (like when releasing the souls on the Zombie town ends up creating another Zombie town later)

>If you pick his brother or w/e that dude was, he basically turns the place into mafia heaven.
That's not possible. If you pick the cousin or whatever he is, he always gets killed by Undead Raedric. There's no ending with him surviving.

It gets increasingly more powerful to ridiculous degrees at later levels. On lower levels, you're probably gonna micro manage a lot, but at higher levels, I just let him tank and then unleashed by biggest powers.

You punch dudes around screens, teleport to the backliners to fuck their shit up, create clones of yourselves, attack really fast while also doing insane damage. It's fun.
