I didn't watch NWC, can someone post just the odyssey footage?
This
A good game that looks like its focused on creating fun platforming with a huge set of mechanics, rather than one-off gimmick levels that are immediately thrown away.
It didn't look that good. I assume these were just hand-picked linear challenge levels for the tournament though, and not representative of the actual game.
USE TIMESTAMP:
didnt watch because of spoilers. What a dumb thing to put in a tournament.
Ooh, that was nice.
They are from the game, but they're from more puzzle-like sections, and they both seem to be right before a boss.
>puzzle like
That ice sections was pretty much like the 64 Bowser in the sky stages. It was just platforming.
The most spoiler-y thing they showed was from Tostarena, which is incredibly early on in the game.
Guess you've got a point, but even then you've got the things that bounce your hat around. The first section they showed, which is probably that lake world, was pretty much just a puzzle though.
I'm glad there's linear stages and not just flat empty open worlds.
Was really cool. Boss seemed easy, but not too easy to the point where it'd be annoying easy, looked as easy as you'd expect. I love that you can control even the bosses to some degree.
Pretty sure it's confirmed Tostarena is the third world, right?
Seems to be a mix of platforming sections with less detail to them but more solid gameplay mixed in with more detailed worlds where you can take a breather and look around.
I don't really play Mario games for the brutal difficulty but it seemed fun and that's enough for me.
Tostarena is the third area, but Bonneton is basically a tutorial area. Fossil Falls is the first actual level.
also there's like 10+ levels after Tostarena
Tostarena is pretty likely to be the third world from the footage we've seen. Goes from Bonneton to Fossil Falls to Tostarena.
>10+ levels after Tostarena
Let's not get too excited. The ones we have confirmed are
>Seaside
>Snow
>Mushroom
>Wooded
>Tropical
>Luncheon
>Lake
>Metro
>typical Bowser level
confirmed, so that's 9.
>How did we
why the fuck is this just a black screen for me
Delfino may make a return too...
Doubt it. It was shown on that one advertisement which was a nice callback, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't on the map ingame. I'm hype to revisit the Castle though.
>Seems to be a mix of platforming sections with less detail to them but more solid gameplay mixed in with more detailed worlds where you can take a breather and look around.
So like... there's a big empty overworld series of areas for you to ""explore""
And then there are isolated platforming areas with physics puzzles and stuff
where have I heard this before...
Except imagine if there was a shrine every 10 steps
They wouldn't have included it if it wasn't someplace you could go to.
>spoiling yourself just 2 weeks before release
isn't that what BotW was already like?
Except one is a platformer and nothing like you just described.
hmm....
where have I seen this shitpost before....
mario dies at the end
Man, for as much shit as people give BoTW on Sup Forums, Hyrule Castle was fucking great.
may as well, some cunt will just post a picture of the final boss form 3 days before release anyway
All of the dungeons in BOTW are pretty great. They're just too short and too few.
Spoilers: The final boss is bowser
Seriously it's a mario game.
>tfw I'm on vacation when Odyssey releases
On one hand, chances of me getting spoiled are pretty low, but on the other hand I won't get to play on release day.
Hyrule Castle? That area that had no significant puzzles, no dungeon item, no unique dungeon monsters and no unique dungeon miniboss?
>mario bros
bowser
>mario bros 2
wart
>mario bros 3
bowser
>mario world
robotnik bowser
>mario 64
3d bowser
>mario sunshine
jacuzzi bowser
>mario galaxy
space bowser
>mario galaxy 2
giga space bowser
>mario world
cat bowser
Its obviously hat bowser you autist
why are those things essential to being great? just because they came before doesn't make them a prerequisite
because you're just fighting the same lizalfos and moblins and guardians you fought everywhere else
doing the same magnesis object things
fighting the same lynel miniboss
using the same powers
using the same equipment
same same same
Yes, and in return you get all sorts of nooks and crannies to explore with lore, all sorts of loot if you want to pop in early, some of the best music in the series in my opinion, all sorts of minibosses. powerful enemies, and exclusive dungeon weapons, and a ton of different ways to tackle the dungeon. Or you can be that guy and swim up the waterfall and skip the entire thing.
if using the same powers and equipment is a problem for you then every zelda game is trash
Does anyone know what those paintings are in the kingdoms that seem to go to older game levels (like Peach's Castle?)
no, those paintings go to other kingdoms that exist in the game. the painting of peach's castle simply confirms there is a visitable mushroom kingdom in odyssey.
It had Hyrule Shield
...
But they are just tucked away in random spots.
Mario needs to use his hat-spaceship to change kingdoms, no?
They seem to be a way to transport from kingdom to kingdom easily. Maybe for puzzles.
no, you can also use the paintings to change worlds. we just haven't seen them used yet.
i'm assuming that each new kingdom will have a painting to the previous kingdom so that progression is still tied to moons. you need the airship to go to new kingdoms, not necessarily to old ones.
final boss is bowser
you have to knock his hat off so you can capture him and make him jump into a lava pit
so the grand endgame item was...
a shield that's identical to all the other shields
except it has high durability
>there was no unique item
>yes there was
>WAAAA ITS POOPY I DONT LIKE IT MOMMY
>that one doesn't count
It was just a series of challenge rooms
Final boss is bowser
Before the fight, a cutscene triggers where Mario and Bowser throw their hats at each other. For the first phase, you get to control Bowser and beat the shit out of Mario.
oh boy lets look at a list of zelda dungeon items in OOT:
>slingshot
>bomb bag
>boomerang
>hero's bow
>megaton hammer
>longshot
>hover boots
>mirror shield
meanwhile in BotW:
>none
>none
>none
>none
>a high durability shield
>there wasnt a unique item in this dungeon
>yes there was
>WAAAA THERE WAS MORE IN OTHER DUNGEONS IN OTHER GAMES
is it a 3d platformer or not?
If you want to play it like that, I could count BoTW's
>Magnesis
>Stasis
>Cryonis
>Bombs
>Korok Leaf
>The 3 elemental rods
>All of the boomerangs
>All of the bows
But I guess these won't count either because it doesn't fit your narrative.
what? yes.
...
you get magnesis, stasis, cryonis, bombs, korok leaf, elemental rods, boomerangs and bow
all in the tutorial area
there is no dungeon progression at all
there's boomerangs in the tutorial area?
>there is no dungeon progression at all
The reason it's like that is so you can do the game how you want to do it. Doesn't matter when you get them, they're there, and ready to experiment with. I also think there's a few upgrades but they're all pretty shitty except for the Stasis one.
Challenge 2 could probably fit in a webm with how fast it went
>no dungeon item
fuck off, I unironically despite the 'dungeon item' design of past games, it's predictable as fuck
>oh look, a puzzle!
>gee, I wonder if I'm supposed to use the boomerang I just got to solve it...
rlly mkes u thnk.
On top of this, many items (other than the common core items [boomerang, hookshot, bow, and bombs] get almost no use outside of their designated dungeon. Whilst the dungeons usually have great designs in their own right, the whole concept of dungeons items was inherently flawed.
This was really cute, I'm glad they do this. I'm sure younger kids really loved it.
the bomb and camera upgrade is good
Camera update was cool, yeah, but it was more of a feature than a rune.
It bombed viewer-wise on youtube and Twitch but maybe it got some youngsters watching the Disney channel.
I'm sure if they had a new reveal hyped up or some shit the viewer numbers would've doubled, but whatever I guess. It was fun to watch, and watching the one nervous kid btfo numbers was a sight to see.
You get a quality of life style item through the champion abilities, though.
it counts as a rune upgrade
>>typical Bowser level
source, your ass. pice here is the best bet for current world count. Maybe toss on the Moon
>a sandbox style level?
>F...FLAT! EMPTY! NOTHING
When will this shit end
Guess that's true, but it doesn't really do anything puzzle-wise except that one shrine where you take a picture, go to the other shrine right near it, and solve the puzzle there and vice versa.
have you tried updating your drivers?
Huh, guess you're right. Good to know there might be some more that weren't revealed on the map.
there's a few quests that require you to take pictures of things, at least 2 require the rune upgrade as far as I'm aware.
while it was crappy for the 3d titles, the gb games were great about it
lol
?
So, what kingdom do you think this is in?
Lake Kingdom. I think it's more of a misty spooky lake than a nice looking one sort of like Bubblaine.
It had yellow moons. It's either cascade or Tropical and I'm leaning towards Tropical.
Lake Kingdom is more Ancienct Greece.
I was mostly complaining about the 3d games, the 2d games tend to do it a lot better.
We sure this isn't just a section in Bubblaine?
Ah, astute observation. I could see tropical kingdom being the case
100% certain. different moon colors.
Wait, what? We have gameplay of the Lake Kingdom?
I want this game so bad and besides my shows there's nothing that can take my mind off it fuck
At least I have off on the day it comes out so there's nothing to prevent me from just playing Mario all day
Sand kingdom
youtube.com
youtube.com
this guy goes into it. we do have gameplay of it, but only a very small amount.
Ey, I watch that guy's stuff too. His cartoon avatar is really shitty and he should ditch it
can't be, keep up
Maybe someone made it for him and he'd feel bad if he took it down. I know that's how I'd feel at least, but I'm a sensitive piece of shit so what do I know.
To be fair, it's been confirmed that theres local currency in Bonneton that wasn't in the tutorial area, which means theres most likely a proper level section we haven't seen. We did see that there was some sort of lit up city in the distance that Mario travels to once he beats the broodal in the tutorial, so I'd guess thats the real level.
> Probably 15 worlds, all of which are a lot bigger than 64s worlds
>momentum based gameplay with a wide variety of fun moves
>god tier music so far
>areas are very distinct and varied from one another, none of that sunshine shit where everything melds together
>explorable hub within each kingdom, sprinkled with tight linear platforming sections to find, including the equivalent of Fluddless sections
>awesome customizable outfits
>main moons progress the kingdom you are in and change the setting and level
>side moons give you a big incentive to explore as much as you can since every moon counts towards getting to the next kingdom
>no sunshine shit where you HAVE to reach a certain act, making shines basically useless
>coins are finally useful
I don't know bros, this might be THE Mario game.
Getting excited just thinking about it. I really do hope it lives up. I also hope I can get myself to stay off of Sup Forums for a few days because whether that metascore is a 95 or an 85, it's gonna be a shitposting massacre.
we have been over this, tif there is content on every single inch of the map, the sense of discovery is destroyed
