Install Floris, its a big overhaul that is basically vanilla+. Also always play warband, the only reason to play just the base game is for specific mods that weren't updated for warband.

Floris is like STALKER Complete; you are a huge casual if you play it on your first run. Native is good enough for a couple dozen hours for you to learn the basic systems before installing any mods. Dickplomacy is a good follow up, and you can export your character across.

Native first. If you want something bit advance try Dickplomacy or Silverstag. If you want something hueg and autistic, try user modded 1257 or user modded modded 1257. Look at the /mbg/ archive.

im wondering if a different mod i played had those same animations, or what. dont remember the mod, i just remember combat wasnt nearly as responsive and id get wrecked because a lot of my clocks would basically be ignored, dont know if thats related to animations or not. never tried floris

It's pronounced feef, you're not wrong, it's just that a lot of people never hear the word actually said aloud. A fife is an instrument.
The thing that tripped me up was his pronunciation of Harlaus, I've always thought of it as "Har-Louse".
