Poor optimization.
>it's real
>we're now in the era of 100GB games
Its 65gn on steam tho..
because publishers and devs no longer give a fuck and you can buy 3tb hdd dirty cheap
prob 100gb still after unpack
Link to that? I'm in the market for one
based Fitgirl
Texture files getting bigger to accommodate 4K is probably the main culprit.
It is on consoles right?
Like the PS4 copy isn't just some sticker on a clear plastic disc so how do you fuck up that bad?
i think it's the different textures settings but i might be wrong
Simply means this game includes an absolute metric fuck ton of cutscenes. Video content bloats game install footprint.
My SSD sure loves bloated games.
Another reason not to buy this garbage.
Jesus fuck. I didn't think we'd hit TB-sized games until perfectly immersive virtual reality simulations, but here we are, already 1/10 of the way there.
I just looked at the system requirements for Nioh and I literally screamed "WHAT THE FUCK." It too has a 100 GB filesize.
Gonna have to get a new fucking HD just to play all these games.
Playstation games were pretty awful about it for a while too, filling up the blurays with uncompressed audio and video files.
google retard
Hopefully people can get a repack
>Poor optimization.
Of?
>100gb
>""MASSIVE""
Console plebs spotted
On the other hand it sure makes the videos look nice.
Yeah but at least they came on discs. I don't want to have to buy a new fucking hard drive just to play on PC.
Lol, just buy another hard drive user. What are you poor? XD
>97.7GB
>40.7GB of loot boxes
Can't wait for someone to do an under 60GB repack that I'll be able to torrent
Piracy wins over the consumer again
Hey I already said new fucking hard drive, you can't take my phrase.
>tfw in less than 10 years we'll be in the era of 1 TB games
>still have to use 100 fucking GB to keep the game installed
fuggg
>buy $60 hard drive and pirate Shadow of War
>still be able to fit 9 more games
Not a bad idea.
To ward against piratefags
Doubt it. They probably figured out that by inflating the filesize, they can track seeders easier
Yeah this is a pain in the ass, downloading it and clearing your SSD every time you get a new game. It wasn't really an issue on the playstation.
I've never noticed the difference. Sure, if you use the same compression algorithms they do on streaming sites you'd certainly notice, but I'm sure you could cut it down to 1/4 or so without too much impact, they've some pretty neat algorithms. Uncompressed is just excessive, I can accept it for the OST but not for fucking video files.
Uncompressed audio is also a big culprit.
Of course, the real reason is that devs simply don't give a single shit about the customer anymore.
...
>pirating vidya
But thats backwards a pirate can get a repack thats smaller
They compress nothing so that normies will think "whoa, such a huge game, so much content, so much quality!"
repacks are 4/10 of the original size on steam if you didn't get yet
I actually don't like repacks since my processor is ancient and it takes fucking eternity to unpack those things. Especially if its something as large as this.
huh just 9 more games? with 3tb drive you can download 29 more games
3tb toshiba is barely $80, i've bought two of those and works perfectly
amazon.com
uncompressed audio
Knack is 63GB on Ps3
The answer is always Jews.
>uncompressed audio
>uncompressed cuscenes
>uncompressed 4k textures which still looks like trash and any skyrim modder would make better looking ones with less space and shitload of ork models to sell microtransactions
I'd say more than
30 GB on loot boxes
45 GB on cutscene
15 GB on the game itself
Doesn't matter i didn't buy this i'm waiting for pirate link to be up and running because i'm just a general shithead
...
because most people don't care?
1. most have 1Tb of free space
2. most people can download that size in 5 hours
>playing a game whose content is locked behind a paywall
>playing a game with microtransactions
>actually spending money on microtransactions
>actually spending money on such a game
If ever there was a game deserving of pirating, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is it. You have to be absolutely brain-dead to reward the developer and distributor with money. This shit is cancer on gaming, infinitely worse than pirating ever could be. It deserves a painful financial death.
Unironically this
>1: scare off pirates with big filesizes and or make them wait for a repack so its a free launchday DRM
>2: to force people to buy more or bigger HDDs.
don't forget
>ending is locked behind lootboxes
I'm not even joking, either.
>actually spending money on such a game
I think it doesn't have denuvo, so day1 pirate
>all languages in the game, instead of you selecting wich one you want to install
>ultra hd prerendered cutscenes
>ultra hd textures that already come in the game, instead of having to download them if you feel you have a rig capable of using them
>uncompressed audio
>in game dlc that probably takes half the space but you cant use because you havent paid for the season pass, goy
I wouldn't say it's locked behind lootboxes, but it's a fucking slog to get it if you don't buy lootboxes
you are ironically not joking, right? right?
Wow. Thank God for piracy. I am not going to do tedious shit for no reason in a singleplayer game. I am going to pirate lootboxes.
Thanks for that, looks like HDs have gotten cheaper since I last bought one.
Fun Fact: Monolith developed Middle-Earth: Shadow. Monolith Productions is owned by Warner Bros. Warner Bros is the distributor of this game. Warner wasn't the actual name of the Warner brothers. They changed their last name. The man who founded Warner Bros was named Hirsch Moses Wonskolaser.
weird thing is: publishers repeat each other mistakes every year
ubi added transaction to unity - flopped
squarenix bullshited mankind divided into breach and lootboxes - flopped
what else was there recently? I remember something else but can't remember what
A Jew founded a Hollywood company? Wow who fucking knew.
Whatever went wrong with Andromeda, I guess.
...
monolith and raven are the slaves of the jews
can you imagine if monolith and raven were given free reign when they were still in it's prime?
>seagate
nah, andromeda was just mediocre to the bone
there was one more "scandal" with transactions in last couple years
>Ubi added microtransaction to Siege - success
>Rockstar addded microtransactions to GTA V - great success
>EA added microtransactions to Battlefield 1 and now to praised Battlefront 2 for having (((((free dlcs)))))) - great success
jews won
I'm fairly certain it does have denuvo
they actually got better
get HGST if you want best though
God i fucking hate my country for this shitty connection god FUCKING damnit !!
oh, I had plans to kill a day with this game
store page on steam doesn't mention it, strange there was no outrage about it yet
developers are lazy cunts, and buying more space isn't a fucking good reaction to these bloated filesizes, there is no reason we should have jumped from an average 15 gig filesize from last gen to 50+ this fucking gen
multiplayer=/=singleplayer
i'm fine with microtransaction for multiplayer games, devs would be too afraid to mess balance for it, but nobody cares about balance in singleplayer
Don't worry, it'll get cracked eventually.
That's because people haven't found out about it yet.
Of course, the developers aren't going to say anything until after it's launched because that would hurt their sales.
>31.8 putains de kbs
Bien ta province?
betehsda plainly says about it on store page for all their games
Non c'est d'la merde pour l'internet. A ce train là, j'aurai mieux fait de commander le jeu en boîte bordel de chiasse.
there should be a scale comparing this with Bezos' steady accumulation to becoming the first trillionaire
I will never download a game over 60gb
I will hold to this until I die
>>ultra hd prerendered cutscenes
Anyone buying this game is actively contributing to the cancer killing vidya
>microtransactions to finish the game and get the real ending
>pre-ordered season pass
>denuvo
Yeah nah, get fucked
>and buying more space isn't a fucking good reaction to these bloated filesizes, there is no reason we should have jumped from an average 15 gig filesize from last gen to 50+ this fucking gen
Fucking thank you user. I hate it when loathsome cunts try to excuse things like this by telling people to buy bigger hard drives. I have to worry about shitty connections and internet caps that makes this a living nightmare.
That's actually the reason though. That or video files.
>piratefag gets fitgirl to repack it and remove the barbarian non english languages and steampunks to remove drm and lootboxes
>buyfag still can't do shit
Don't forget Blizzard with Overwatch. That was very well received because it's all cosmetic and nothing is required for gameplay.
>Oh no I'm not running a server, these are just for my Steam library
I actually do remember a huge scandal with GTAV's microtransactions though. I don't know what it was specifically but people were MAD.
4k textures and full voice acting for every scene in the game in 20 languages
They really fucking need to just default to downloading the language your console/computer is set to and making the other languages optional downloads or some shit, you'd cut every game down by at least 10GB.
I was starting to think it'd never go back down after the damn tsunami. Prices were still up like 4 years later.
people just scream
>JUST BUY A BIGGER HARDDRIVE BRO
Ok and then what? What about when those get filled up because these games just keep increasing in size, just fucking buy more? Consoles mostly still go on 500gb-1tb, PCs can just plop a new HDD in whenever the fuck they want, but what about SSDs? SSDs are ridiculously expensive still, with 1tb models far exceeding 200$, which is just absolutely asinine, you want to play a game on a 120gb SSD? Enjoy fitting one fucking game on there, and there's a good chance a single update might put it over that fucking limit. This isn't even taking into account download times are going to be obnoxiously long, even if you have a really good internet connection like the eastern euros.
Holy shit, that PSU looks like it's from 20 years ago. Where did you get that picture?
Oh I think I just remembered. Hitman. Remember that?
How about just make every game English only until the plebs in the world learn this language?
There is literally not a single person worth talking to that can't speak English, let alone playing a video game with. Hell my buddy learned English from playing KOTOR, it didn't have his language in the game.
I think it was about people buying hundreds, if not thousands of dollars worth of in-game currency and hackers stealing it away instantly, and the customers couldn't get it back until they made enough noise about it. That's what I remember.
Personally I'm fine playing in whatever language as long as there's english subtitles. Usually I just default to whatever language the game was made in originally.
This isn't a thing, for one, most notably texture related visuals only deteriorate at physical scale. That means regardless of the virtual resolution you render at the level of detail only deteriorates as the monitor enlarges, not the resolution. Furthermore these games are developed for consoles and as such have a substantially reduced texture and poly budget compared to what a modern PC can actually handle, and furthering that point they're optimized for consoles as well which complicates things even further. That is to say that this is all effectively bloat, either incompetent development or a literal metric fuckton of unnecessary assets (uncompressed audio, [un?]compressed variant video (1080, 2160). Conversely you're partially right and the developer is fucking retarded and used supermassive textures for literally everything despite the game being TP, fast paced, and action oriented.
Maybe we'll get some extra variety in enemy recolors at the end of this awful, tragic road.
Thank you, I don't expect English voice acting in a jap game, subtitles are more than enough.
Unfortunately all the money I spent on HDDs means I can't afford a good PSU.
Because nobody gives a shit about third world countries where the local warlord of the ISP is allowed to set up data caps
Is there even any way this can be defended?
