not enough r34 on it

No diagonal movement.

Over $100

Checkmate Athiests.
Just kidding, but wouldve been a nice addition but isnt hindersome without it

It set up an unattainable standard for Suikoden III

The whole battle system is shit.
I don't wanna play RISK or Taisen.
I hated these RNG battles.

I didnt buy it when I had the chance. Now its super expesive.

>tfw when 12 year old me randomly selected suikoden 2 as my birthday present not knowing what it was

>Suikoden 2
>RNG battles

I don't follow.

Cant you buy it on PSN? You can even emulate it on a shitty toaster or your phone for free.

You didn't play the game then you sub-108 star trash.

Jowy should be punished according to the laws.

The army battles were to an extent

I still want to own a phsical copy. I own the first one.

the only flaw about army battles was that it was too easy imho
>you have 70973 self heals and target heals
>special runes that can damage without fail or other shit
You cant lose. Hell, even losing a unit is pretty much impossible.

It's not that it's hard, it's the slow, tedious RNG shit that is the problem.

Game runs on sideplots which made the main plot shallow and cliche. Game is also easy.

>mfw trying the extreme difficulty mode romhack
I havent gotten past the Sindar snake thing and gave up there.

"I should betray my country and sacrifice these kids to a guy with Blight in his name, what could happen?"

And then he gets off scott free

I still gave him a good beating with nanami and the flying squirl and won that battle so not really scott free.

Apparently he had a blind sister living in kyaro and that was supposed to act as his motive for every shitty thing he did. He just wanted money to move them out of the war and into the Toran republic. He ended up actually getting off totally scott free with his blind sister by the time L'Renouille fell.

It's odd that S1 gives you this character too in the form of Kraze. You can choose to kill him or not though.

I actually remember that one random female NPC in a house in kyaro who talked about her brother taking her to a doctor soon when he gets money because she is blind. But I didn't know that was his sister.

Why was she such a huge slut?

This game hides little things like that everywhere. Here's a stupid anecdote;

Just when i thought I'd played it enough times to see everything I made my girlfriend play it and she saves compulsively so when it came to doing the alex/hilda quest in the sindar ruins she would be running back and forth from the ruins to the inn and at certain intervals she noticed that there was a family of pigs outside the inn and slowly, one by one, they started disappearing everytime she came back to the inn and saved. This made her extraordinarily sad for some reason.

Later I'd find that the exact number of pigs in front of alex and hilda's inn that vanished was the amount you could find scattered out in the world for Yuzu's farm.

Yup, Jowy is a shitty 'friend' and a villain, horribly written either way.

I love this game, but let's go:

1. The dungeons are mostly not good, but the forest in the South, and the forest behind the university - which are the same location - are total copypasted shit which the game forces you through repeatedly.

2. It's easy. That's not the end of the world. But unlike S1 it really doesn't have a difficulty curve. The very first boss is unforgiving but a bunch of plot relevant things later are cakewalks.

3. The return of Neclord sequence has good bits in it, but it's not joined up writing and is a bit of a momentum blackhole for the plot. Also, shitty cave dungeon.

4. The army battles are SLOW and loads of them just represent scripted plot events anyway. Permadeath only inclines players to be conservative/extra slow or to savescum.

5. The final boss is just a boring monster thing. And falls back on the Chrono Trigger - no, you must kill this part first! restart! - design approach, which has always sucked.

>Nanami's cheap 'I wasn't actually dead' twist in the good ending
>Jowy being completely absolved of every crime (touching as it was)
>Pilika. Fucking Pilika
>SuikoIIfags never STFO about it or let it go, making the others unable to live up to its impossible standards
>Battles are not challenging at all (Save for maybe Abomination and Blight)
>The fucking atrocious bugs and translation/grammar errors in the US version
>The bugs that randomly occurs in the US version
>Needing to travel back and forth the forest to Gregminister to recruit Gordon if you haven't got the trading system down
>Sacrifice getting all 108 stars in order to unlock secret characters
>The absurdly timed Clive quest.

Still love the game and the series in general regardless.

I love the small things in the game. I also love whenever you get a note in your inbox you can just tell right away who sent it to you from the headline without actually opening the letter even though you have 108 people running around in your castle. Says something about the great diverse set of characters and their personalities

Amazing!

My favorite game but its too easy.

balancing is ass.

I fucking loved those as a kid, they got me into strategy games and medieval military history

Kyaro is more peaceful and cozier than anywhere in the Toran republic though, its isolated as fuck.

You can try this.

romhacking.net/hacks/3303/

Barely any of the characters get developed because there are too many

Yes. She was Blue Thundered, if ya know what I mean.

>horribly written
I see this said a lot and I don't see it. He was plagued by the horrors of war, abandoned by the last thread he had to his family early on and saw that the resistance wasn't going to make it under the force of highland.
Happenstance forced him into a corner and he severed his threads to the mc and nanami in hopes he could actually make a difference inside rather than struggle outside with them.
Nanami constantly backs up how awful it was to be in the position they were in, you even get an entire fucking side plot dedicated to giving up for good at Tinto.
Like maybe There's a few plot holes but is it horrible? I don't think so.

Her border also got crossed by the North Sparrow border guard if you know what I mean.

The Bath scenes are hilarious in this game. I laughed when Flik called Viktor a Fatso. Or the one with Nina.

Nanami only wants to give up when in the middle of a Zombie apocalypse I'm not sure how that's even the same thing.

>Suikoden 2 hardcore patch brings extreme challenge. Almost every battle requires a fair amount of preparation and focus. The good news is, sometimes it is possible to run away.

Looks interesting i'll try it sometime

reminds me of V when you mention that you didn't gawk at bare titties and Kilik loses his shit

The battle theme was worse than the one in the first game.

>ywn take a nice relaxing bath with viktor after a long day of fighting
Why even live.

Too easy. Not saying it has to be really difficult but you really don't even have to try to get through most of the game.

Another flaw is that Highland in general needed to be fleshed out more, I know that they were saving shit for those Gaidens but stuff like that should be in the base game. Also by more fleshed out I just mean some towns/cities to visit and shit like that.

The Neclord dungeon is basically just fanservice for the people who played the first game.

Sure, but Neclord is already in the game. There's a whole get the magic sword and kick him out of the castle sequence. Doing it twice is just silly

I'm pretty sure there's a few other moments of her voicing concern over Riou's health and how she wished they weren't involved with the war at all like during one of the few(?) times Riou passes out after a big battle or something.
>I'm not sure how that's even the same thing.
Well it's just another part of the stress and burden Riou and her have to carry as leaders of this army, isn't it? Pretty sure Nanami has dialogue in that side quest stating how she had feelings about wanting to run away the whole time and foreshadows her ultimate fate there as well.

Shitty name

Tengaar a cute and Hix a shit, why do they always pair up the best girls with fags like this?

As someone who usually hates it when localizations change too much I agree. The name being a total foreign word in the west could not have helped garner interest.
That and having one of the worst boxarts in all gaming didn't help.

They didnt do anything with the Eillie liking Riou sidething. She literally begged for the D in all those inbox letters. But ofcourse as a typical JRPG it never gets followed up on.

Why is Sierra drinking wine if she is an albino ?

>tfw Jowy smashed this every night when he was king of highland while Riou is still a virgin
I think Jowy won in the end.

I know you ain't shitting on one of the best OTPs in this series.

>you'll never marry a pseudo french jrpg girl

The name is cheesy as shit. I think it was better stayed in Japanese.
>phantasm marine guardian legend
It doesn't even really mean anything.

PAL always wins.

meh, my headcanon is Oulan would bodygaurd your room and give savage, unprotected snu snu on some nights.

They could have always made some shit up. Something that has to do with Stars of Destiny or someshit I dunno.

True Runes would be my pick.

Why can't I have both?

Kasumi is cute!

I never really understood why this was a choice either.

Not enough damsel in distress
I wanted Sierra to be one.

Valeria>Kasumi
This is fact both visually and usefulness. Unless you want to go to the naruto village early.

I wish I knew too.

Or if you're a waifufag and want Tir's girl there with him.

I fucking refuse to ambush luca without my naruto squadron.

Pleb

I love shit like this. I remember an interview before FF9 where a dev was saying what they really wanted was kids in the playground to be comparing what they'd done in the game. It gives it replay value and it's a decision not for the sake of Optimal Paths or anything, just for fun.

>Shiro & Kinnison
>Miklotov and Camui

Best couples.

Why is every antagonist transform into monster in Suikoden anyway.

I picked Valeria because she was in my main party in suikoden 1. She didnt last too long in 2 though. There are too many good hardhitters in 2 and I think her rune got nerfed a bit?

Luca didn't turn into anything.

he was already a monster

Tanking three teams + one on one duel + arrow rain isn't a monstrous to you?

>cheap twist
she had to have enough HP for her to survive the plot attack

He doesn't need to go into Super Sayajin Monster 3 to be a monster.

trips confirm, Luca Blight the monsterest

>The fucking atrocious bugs and translation/grammar errors in the US version
>The bugs that randomly occurs in the US version
>US
So nothing worth bringing up then.

>Always thought Hanna was a guy because no one ever refers to her as him or her because shes a minor character no one ever talks to and the mc never talks anyway.

luca remains a favorite antagonist of mine all these years later
a mega-dope boss theme helps

...

1 on 1 last battle is pretty easy
>put fire sealing rune on so his fire attacks do 0 dmg
>Speed boots + hazy rune
>practically always misses his normal attack which he does rarely compared to his fire attacks
>just keep hitting till he dies.

You mean DEF to survive. And my point was that it was badly handled. Huan announces she's dead, asks to speak with Shu in private out of nowhere. Literally no one goes in to see her 'dead' body. No funeral, or anything, or how the fuck she got out of the castle without anyone noticing if only Shu knew.

Literally three things from the entire list I posted.

It ended

timer for good ending

Really inconsistent tone

>this meme again
Theres no timer for the good ending. only for the Clive Elza side story.

Who's idea is it again to put "moe" character on Suikoden 5?

>tfw I couldnt play 5 on my emulator because when you upscale it theres this ugly annoying fucking white line through the whole text bar
>yesterday start messing with the TC offset
>Managed to fix it by putting offset on 500 x 500
>completely gone at 5x native
I hope it's good. Gonna start it tonight

Have fun at the prologue and use the guide to get all 108 stars.

but to good ending you have to have all characters and their sidestories complited

>Have fun at the prologue
Nice joke, I heard the prologue is the worst one but it gets alot better after that.

>COD gets sequels all the time
>This doesn't
sometimes I wonder why I drifted into this hellish timeline

Lies, I got the mc, Jowy and Nanami traveling together ending and I didnt finish the Clive Elza story line.

It does. But the real test is getting though the prologue. Enjoy the slow burn.

It's really worth it, V is probably the 2nd best Suikoden game after II. The bad ends are very depressing though, so make sure to get the true ending.

I don't get it. It doesnt even have to be a huge budgeted realistic game. They could just go with simple HD sprites instead of 3d. I hate Konami

still it's stupid to give timed quests. i like taking time with my vidya
