Is gwent good?
>anything made by CDPR

boring game
The cards look really pretty.
especially the anime cards
Atm it's alright unless you're playing against scoiatel
Death to any and all who netdeck squirrel fucking shits.
groovy toruvi is mai waifu
I found it boring. These CCG miss what makes TCG really fun and that's socializing. Half the fun is shit talking with your friend but in these CCG it's just play your turn then afk until it's your next turn. Literally more fun playing via duellinks or cockatrice. Call me when there's good VR CCG/TCG.
More and more, I feel like collectible deckbuilding card games are just not a legitimate form of competition. They're certainly enticing. The illusory pull of being able to come up with strategies and collect cards to support that strategy, building from a core idea into a set of techniques, and then unleashing them in matches, testing, refining, it all sounds very cool. The problem is, in the internet era, an individual's efforts just don't amount to much.
The specific games have their quirks, but in every instance of this genre, you're up against the meta. It's less about refining your own ideas than it is about farming cards to steal the ideas of others that have been tested in far more matches than you could ever hope to play on your own. It's about taking advantage of momentary swings and imbalances in particular card combinations, looking for a weak spot that will rocket you up a few more notches against a ton of other people trying to do the same. You're not testing your own ideas so much as testing the ideas of the community and its ever-shifting whims, and then changing tactics when you get countered.
I don't find the idea of trying to eke out a more than 50% winrate with decks I didn't make up very appealing. Nor do I like the idea that all my individual efforts are for naught when compared to a whole internet full of people using particular netdecks that far outclass me. I can try to scrape something together and compete, I can appropriate their techniques, but all I'm doing is playing the odds, hoping I draw into lucky strings of cards to make my combos work, hoping they don't draw into theirs. Hoping that if we both draw into our deck's ultimate concept, that mine trumps theirs in the meta, that they aren't set up to counter me.
This is not a direct competition between minds. There's a certain amount of skill involved in playing correctly, but at the heart, it's a matter of who has the time and the luck, who is willing to steal the best ideas.
well made, but super boring.
Wait for Magic Arena and/or play Eternal/Elder Scroll Legends.
>gwent
>super boring
>recommends Eternal
i think the devs are too amateur they're balance and changes are so bad at least they change a lot but still they're so bad at balancing
so many bugs and ugly ui etc feels like beta game for sure wouldnt even try to play it until full release
Been playing it ever since it came out, the game is alright and it has the best free to play model of all the cards games out there. No quests or anything like that. You can get 1-3 packs a day for just playing the game. With that said the game is kinda boring after a while + cards change all the time which is a big downside for most people. They go as far as totally change mosts cards to do something completely different
Did you just write this? If so you are a very good writer, I could clearly understand all of your thoughts and you put them in a beautiful, logical flow. You should write more.
dumb knife ear poster
gwent is fun, it's cheap, and it's unique in that it's not a rip off of mtg
so yea it's a good game. it's not going to be the number one card game but it's fine, it's fun
the devs aren't really set out to be master ccg balancers, they didn't even set out to make a card game they only made it because the community wanted it. none of them have any kind of multiplayer balancing skills beforehand, they're learning it all for the first time. there's no way they know how to execute a top level card game.
No.
I love how she is killing a woman in full armor, i bet that makes feminists so mad
...
200 hours for witcher 3, never play that shit
Gwent is good
everything makes feminists mad, especially if men enjoy it
It just doesn't do it for me.
I really wanted to like it.
>is gwent good?
Nope.
The game is in a state of closed continuous, even thou it's in OB for a long time now.
The game could get ''good'' in a year or so, but at the speed the game is moving, there's a chance there will be no game by then.
Fundamentally - yes. It's core gameplay doesn't rely on rng as much and that, in turn, encourages the player to plan ahead. Seeing your plan work out in practice or playing around your opponent and adjusting your game plan as the game goes along is immensely satisfying.
This aspect also feeds into deckbuilding - you're not just putting in cards to "play on curve", as you would in Hearthstone, but actually building around ideas and mechanics.
The only glaring negative right now is that the game's still under heavy development, meaning that cards can be completely changed overnight, not just making your existing decks worse, but sometimes rendering them completely unplayable.
>there's no way they know how to execute a top level card game.
Name a company other than Wotc than knows how to execute a top level card game.
