How does HLD compare to your dark souls of choice?

It's a good "the dark souls of retro pixel indie devs" game genre.
It's an ok game
Kind of underrated in my opinion. Is it because of the pixel graphics? There was no real hype around its difficulty or any of the things it has to offer. Are there any serious drawbacks I am unaware of?
Its not really difficult. I had some problems with birdman boss but thats about it, final boss is the weakest of all. NG+ is just gives you 1 HP so fuck it
sauce?
didn't they add i-frames because souls babbies cried about the difficulty?
the original build of the game was easy enough, alright style even if it reeked of hipster faggotry. I l'd give it a 7/10
It's not that hard of a game, definitely challenging though, has a great soundtrack and it's really fun, the only thing I don't like about it is the map.
The whole game is cryptic which adds to the game but also is a drawback, for instance when you start the game you can go where ever you want to but some areas are easier with weapons you unlock when beating an area. (even though the game kinda hints you to go to the north area first.)
One of my fav games.
Girls Aloud Vol.3
They did on the dash. You still take damage if you dash directly into an enemy though. Otherwise not much was modified in this respect.
And to be honest having no i-frames whatsoever on a dash that is supposed to save your ass isn't really a helpful move.
I disliked the cryptic crap around the game not even telling you at least some basics of the story.
But yeah one of my favorites as well.
NG+ gives you 2 hp + all equipment.
I found the game to be pretty difficult to be honest. But yeah the final boss is kind of a wimp.
I couldn't stand that the jump/dodged roll button or whatever it was dodged in the direction you were aiming not the direction you were moving. Just bad game design.
maybe you just suck
get gud noob
That is why I used a controller. But I've seen videos of people do with this just fine.
youtube.com
huh? i'm pretty sure the dash would go in the direction you moved with the left stick
unless you're talking about keyboard
It's mostly underrated because, at launch, it was a buggy broken piece of shit
It was only fixed 8 months later and by then the hype was dead
Still, the end product is a fun little romp and I wouldn't feel bad telling people that it's worth full price

What are you, a video game journalist?
What a shame. I only played it after a year or so. So I got a very good experience from it.
Let me guess. It's easy once you master the controls. Which it is. But I had problems when getting used to them.
I wouldn't compare it to Dark Souls and I didn't think it was a hard game. The minimum content to beat the game is easy. You have to hunt for a lot of secrets and back track to get to the challenging parts, but even that stuff isn't that tough when you're fully upgraded.
Overall, there are too many secrets that drag the pace down and hide too much of the levels, but the game is great and the punchy, responsive combat is fun.
Starts out kinda tough but gets easy once you figure the game out and get upgrades.
Bird boss and samurai boss will probably kill you a few times, so will some of the hoard fights (with the optional arenas being the game's hardest content), but it's certainly not a game that's trying to slaughter the player
>played hld when it was still locked at 30fps
>the somewhat unresponsive/"floaty" controls made things like continuous dashing a fucking chore
Does the upgrade in frame rate make a difference at all?
Piss easy, i liked it a lot tho
why are difficult games compared to dark souls
they have nothing in common
The game was fun and decently difficult, the only part I had trouble with was that one samurai boss.
Wasn't there an option in the menu to change that?
