it doesn't

Best world and quest design.
Two main reasons:
1) Despite the fact it's on a shitty engine, the actual game beneath it is extremely solid, well-written and competently designed for the most part.
2) Groups of dedicated modders have tried to expand, fix and tweak the game by releasing fan patches, fixes and mods to help it run better.
Turns out good writing, quest design, and RPG mechanics are more important than fancy graphics. Quelle fucking surprise.
because the engine is the only bad thing about it, everything else on the game is stellar
creation engine is pretty much just the old engine with a facelift courtesy of Nvidia.
>the most obsolete piece of coding ever realised last-gen
A lot of PC games that Sup Forums jerkoffs to are old games programmed for Windows XP tier memory pool of 2GB RAM. Fuck off with that attitude, the era doesn't define the game. The gameplay does.
Probably nostalgia at this point.
>shadman
Engine is not only about graphics.
Doesn't look like Shad at all.
What games makes me play as a dumb, weak virgin (FBI) trying to be a smart, successful Chad (CIA)?
That's not Shad, user.
THE BEAR AND THE BULL AND ITS ALL YOUR FAULT, COURIER SIX
She's so wonderful I wanna be her bitch

mods
Because it's a really good fucking game.
It's good DESPITE the shitty engine.
Can you imagine if New Vegas was made in something like Unreal Engine or some other non shit engine that shitesda uses? And if it had more than 1.5 years of dev time?
It does get pretty boring pretty quickly though. And some of the factions are plain shit. House, Legion, NCR, along others
i see chromaberration i immediately think shad. my bad
Did you assume Shad developed Cuphead too?
You mean he didn't?
Fortunately not.
cute
Because mods.
Raul looks like he got encased in concrete
>boring, empty wasteland that literally just fills space between cities and interesting places
>poor gunplay; almost no recoil, maladjusted sights on lots of weapons, shooting at enemies and surfaces doesn't feel impactful
>every other kind of combat (sneaking, melee etc) feels incredibly shallow, explosives or stealthy melee aren't even viable
>sniping is severely overpowered relative to everything else
>terrible ai that can't handle being shot at from far away but when upclose will jitter about while shooting at you with pinpoint accuracy, the only enemies that are fun to fight are animals
>combat encounters are awful, the game regularly just spawns enemies on top of/near/behind you (like the battle of hoover dam and parts of lonesome road)
>stops being remotely challenging or resource intensive within a few hours
>80%-90% of quests are terrible (go from a to b to a)
>quest structure is rigid and disincentivses exploration; you almost never activate a quest associated with an area by entering that area, so you learn not to bother going somewhere until someone has given you a quest to go there
>faction system is glitchy and only serves to lock you out of content later on in the game (oh and every so often an npc will walk up to you and say "you're okay" and hand you 2 maize or some shit. REACTIVITY!!!)
>severely overpowered skills that you have no reason not to pick like speech, which should work as a way to resolve a conflict without violence or convince people to like you but ends up being the ONLY way to do those things in most circumstances
>simultaneously performs and looks like shit
>vegas strip is a massive letdown
>companions trivialise combat to the point where you don't even have to get involved
>weird mix of super serious political stuff and wacky GHOULS IN SPACE XD writing that doesn't really mesh together well
>swore off new vegas for one year due to school and wanting it to feel fresh when i roll a new characer i have in mind
>get a severe urge to replay almost every day
>actively repressing urge
>640 hours, 4 characters, beaten game 3 times
im not gonna make it
I feel like New Vegas just has less replay value compared to Fallout 4. NCR is pretty much the only faction that got fully developed, so replaying the game as any other faction just feels shallow. Fallout 4 factions are shallow by design but are all complete in their own sense so you're not subconsciously docking them for lack of depth when comparing them to other endings. Stacking that on top of the settlement building which can be fun and I just feel more inclined to return to 4.
New Vegas is a good game but I just can't go through another playthrough because it's just not as rich as the first one I was given.
I never get tired of returning to it. It's so much fun.
try to make a completely different character. dont play as a self insert, at the beginning of the game make up a character with specific quirks and backstory and play as them, and make decisions they would make. dont think about the meta game at all (such as, "if i choose X conversation choice, i dont get Y outcome). guarantee you missed out on a ton of stuff your first playthrough that youll find if you play again
>boring, empty wasteland that literally just fills space between cities and interesting places
What other kind of wasteland is there? I mean, if it's literally 'the space between cities and interesting places', how can there be anything interesting in it? Jesus.
>severely overpowered skills that you have no reason not to pick like speech, which should work as a way to resolve a conflict without violence or convince people to like you but ends up being the ONLY way to do those things in most circumstances
Literally just lying at this point.
Keeping in mind they went out of their way to make sure most of the locations were believable, in that you can see where they get their food and water from and understand why people would live there, some locations just make no goddamn sense whatsoever
Novac, in particular. Probably because it was the first cell they made
>make up a character with specific quirks and backstory and play as them, and make decisions they would make. dont think about the meta game at all
I do this with all my characters (even the fallout 4 ones for as far as that'll get me) but in the end if I'm not doing something that was different to what I did with another character then it's just a waste of time. It'd be boring to go through the same experience again, but at the same time all the other experiences are just worse by comparison.
>guarantee you missed out on a ton of stuff your first playthrough that youll find if you play again
Not saying I haven't played the game multiple times. I'm just saying it's a lackluster experience when I do. Also, missing stuff on the first playthrough is true of any fallout game except 1.
550 hours in I've never used lily ad a companion
have I missed out on anything
Because it actually doesn't hold up well, you're just a braindead, fedora-wearing idiot.
I hope you paid for these mods partner.
Nothing is free in the Mojave.
With Lily and the right perks/traits you can have basically permanent Stealth Boy. Other than that, no.
>start playing the game
>framerate is all over the place, sometimes 60, sometimes 30, sometimes 15
>lower the settings
>performance is exactly the same
>lower the settings as low as possible to the point where geometry pops in right in front of me and makes the game borderline-unplayable
>performane is still the same
How in the fuck does an engine as bad as Gamebryo actually exist
wow someone is mad that people love New Vegas.
what does it mean comped
these screenshots are always great but the actual game never looks satisfying.
Actually replying to pasta
It holds up just as well as oblivion, which is to say not at all
comp
[komp] Informal
noun
1. a ticket, book, service, etc., provided free of charge to specially chosen recipients.
verb (used with object)
3. to provide with a comp:
Some casinos comped the biggest spenders, providing rooms and meals on the house.
free of charge
If anyone here has played the Dust mod. How the fuck can I sort out my rads if im stuck in the middle of freeside with almost 1000 rads? If i attempt too move ill die and my agility/strength is super low so im slow enough as well. I dont wanna use console too add rads but it seems like my last option
>implying Gamebryo is the problem here
en.wikipedia.org
I mean add radaways but I have no booze too get rid of rads and ive only ever come across 3 radaways. I dont wanna use console really because it would ruin it but it seems like one of the last choices I have :(
>Fallout: New California

No way. When I made different characters in NV, there were entire questlines I hadn't encountered, and even more questlines that I did completely differently. In Fallout 4, there's a much smaller group of questlines that are faction-specific, and almost no questlines that play out differently based on your choices. Fallout 4 is frustrating to me in that regard, because no matter how differently I craft the character, they end up being basically the same person because of the hamfisted main plot with Shaun.
Not with that quitters attitude
bruh
Has there been a mod to fix the cancerous oblivion tier faces on npcs yet
what does it mean to be loved by someone
New Vegas Redesigned 2/3 and Fallout Character Overhaul
Whether they actually fix the issue is down to personal opinion
Have fun playing Overwatch and thinking it's the pinnacle of gaming
can someone please explain to me what is a chromaberration
