QC is not really a hero shooter like OW.
It's 95% Quake 3 and 5% of all that shit with loot cases, XP and 1 ability per champion with no draft.

Bought this recently. It seems like a solid game but the match making is garbage. It's probably because of the lack of players, but playing against people with hundreds of hours isn't fun.

Most of the players in match making are bad though.
That's why I almost never accept party invites to play as 3-4 man party against MM scrubs, it's painfully boring and easy stomping.
Playing it solo makes it somewhat decent and I have like 40/10 score all the time but that only indicates how weak the enemy players are because I just started to play QC in June.

So is PUBG, but it didn't stop the game from selling well in this state. Poor netcode is usually the case for majority of online games that do so much better than Quake at this moment. No, sweetie, arena-fags killed arena genre. Quake isn't a complete failure only because of those casual shitters, you killed all the arena games and keep killing them one by one. There have been multiple Quake 3 clones, some are decent, others are very impressive, but none of them were successful. They have not failed because they were too hard, they've failed because you weren't there. Fuck arenafags.

PUBG is very different though. It has huge area and the game can be actually fun to play with a bunch of your friends. There's a room for some tactics and shit, not just timing red / armor and reflexes.
All Quake pros are playing PUBG anyway.
Also it was heavily advertised and PUBG owners obviously hired all top streamers to promote the game and it worked incredibly well.
I don't even own it and don't really like it but I can easily see the appeal of it.
Pretty much all FPS pros from CS to Quake are playing PUBG currently.
