Furi and Shadow of the Colossus
Monster hunter franchise.
The beginning can take a while with forced gathering and small monster quests.
But once you enter the real meat of the game you'll be glad you stuck with it.
Contra Hard Corps is like 90% boss fights.
Alien Soldier
Furi is fucking incredible, and in some ways similar to cuphead (high-skill game with multi-stage bosses, a strong timing-based parry mechanic, an emphasis on precise positioning while aiming and a fuckload of projectiles to dodge)
If you're a fan of Suguri's bullet hell boss fights, Acceleration of Suguri is pretty much exclusively boss fights (and can be played 1v1 with another person). Same with Acceleration of Suguri 2.
I want a Dark Souls boss rush game.
Titan Souls
Boss fights are always prevalent in Megaman and a lot of the games throw the old 'boss rush of all the previous ones' near the end. Many just have levels that are easy to traverse so most of your time is spent jamming on bosses.
Alien Soldier is definitely the #1 example, but a lot of Treasure's other games have a large focus on bosses as well. Dynamite Headdy and Radiant Silvergun come pretty close to boss rushes at times.
>people recommending titan souls and furi
Metal slug B^)
Shadow of the Colossus, but it won't feel like a "rush" on your first playthrough because you have to spend time to find the bosses. There is an actual boss rush mode in it though when you complete the game, to cut out the filler.
It basically is, since running past all the trash mobs is safer and faster most of the time
But that game isn't actually enjoyable, it's just bragging rights. What kind of fucking masochist would actually replay Cuphead?
Currently playing back through on expert
That's what Dark Souls 3 was to me. I barely bothered with navigating a place safely and just ran by everything. The only exceptions being Farron Swamp and the Cathedral. I wouldn't recommend this as it kills the game's magic. Maybe I've just played too many of them in too short a timespan.
Serios Castlevania
you won't be disappointed
>it's a different game after (X) hours!
its not like its random once you know how to beat a fight you can easily beat it again
You can mod the original to Boss Rush mode.
Don't know what to tell you user. It genuinely is.

Play a Treasure game. Radiant Silvergun becomes more of a boss rush as you progress. I went back to Sin & Punishment Star Successor after beating Cuphead.
No More Heroes
He's right though....
Games can progress you know.
MH moves from a smalltime gathering and maintenance thing to full time intense boss battles non stop.
>isn't actually enjoyable
Oh man all that fun I had was a lie, thanks user.
...
While not exactly an example. The True Arena in Kirby games are always pretty fun to do. Kirby Bosses actually have a shit ton of phases/attack patterns when you're not using stupidly OP stuff like Hammer or Archer.
I still hold Planet Robobot as having one of the most 'hype' final bosses i've ever played.
monster hunter sucks
What's the difference between bossrush games and ordinary 2D platformers?
This.
Platformers are more focused on level design.
Bossrush games are more focused on boss design.
>boss rush games
>no one has mentioned Gunstar Heroes yet
More than 50 percent of the game consists of the bosses.
How does that show in actual games? Are levels shorter in bossrush games? Crash Bandicoot has some developed bosses but is it considered a bossrush game?
Some people enjoy being kicked in the balls repeatedly.
GH is the GOAT 2D shoot em up
Play cuphead and then play crash bandicoot and I promise you will realize the difference
Heck even Alien Soldier is a good example of this. The levels are about 20 seconds long and have extremely barebones platforming to glue together the long and intresting bosses.
Red Earth
Don't judge my hobbies
Metal gear rising after finishing the game once
>having this much of a superficial outlook on genres
spend less time shitposting on anonymous imageboards and more time playing games
or after getting the gray fox sword
megaman and cave story are both carried by their bosses, but both have brutal platforming inbetween. so i guess that just makes them platformers. each of them features an actual boss rush at some stage though so i'll still post this.
More like after 20 minutes but okay
>Okay you fucking retard here's how you cook some meat
>And here's where you get shit to make potions
>Now go punch this fucking raptor in the face
Treasure made some
Stretch Panic's alright, and has some creative boss designs
Wario World has more bosses than levels and is a lot of fun.
>genera
what a fucking faggot
Ketsui Death Label. I don't know if there are other Cave shooters that are mostly boss rushes though.
