10th anniversary of this masterpiece in just 2 days, is Valve going to simply ignore it?

They should at least acknowledge that they released one of the best PC games ever made some time ago

Yes, Portal was fucking amazing.

I agree, Portal was a very good game. That crowbar game was okay too.

Who still has their ORANGE box? Yeah, not black, but actually orange plastic. I hear these are more rare somehow.

Another trivia for newfigs: back before the release there were plans to have a Black Box with only three games on: Epsiode 2, TF2 and Portal. This never came about.

>half-life 2
>good
Nice try user. Portal was the only decent game in that collection

>valve
>doing anything ever

I still do.
Are they actually rare? I thought they were as common as poop in India.

I had a weird dream that Half-Life 3 was in development. But it was being developed in area 51. And that's why it's been soo secretive.

>is Valve going to simply ignore it?
Yes. If it sin't dota 2, csgo, tf2 or some other bullshit from their e-pachinko business, they will pretend it never existed.

I remember. There was even a trailer for that with a slogan: "Three games, one box!".

Kind of sad how this collection only got worse as time went on. TF2 became free and the HL series was never finished.

I remember portal, the one with the orange and blue portals. I wonder if they originally planned on making a blue box later? I didn't ever play the other stuff, it started way too slowly for my taste. People said it was good but it seemed like every other linear trash FPS to me.

Yes they will ignore it or do a crappy sale or give everybody the games in the orange box for free

which idiot was responsible for marketing this
wouldn't you want to advertise half life 2 over half life 2 episode 2?

BTW, mine also has a print error on the back of the box.
Instead of showing the Dog vs Strider screenshot (like in pic related) it just shows the TF2 screenshot again, but it's a bit more zoomed in. It basically has two TF2 screens, but everything else is normal.
Is that a common printing error? Does anyone else have that too? Does it make it more collectable and valuable?
It's the European version and yes, it's an official copy, not some bootleg.

Can you post a pic here? I'm interested.

Everyone already had HL2 by then.

Because half life two had been out for 3 years (2004) and episode 2 was released simultaneously with the orange box

Yes I have that too. Bought my copy around the end of December 2007.

It's the same picture used for TF2, however more zoomed in, can't even see Pyro properly.

You may have misunderstood my previous post.

Can you please post a picture of it?

>the picture of tf2 its Hydro

Man, you can tell how each of the original maps had they own styles

I'm with other people in the room it would be pretty creepy

Please?

They will reveal Half-Life 3. The script release was just a hoax to throw people off.

Here.

Thanks. Did they look at you?

It's okay user. Time to let it go.

Oh so it's not unique to my copy. Interesting.
I got mine in 2009, IIRC.

I am the original poster, not the second user with the same box.

>best deal in history
How does this deal stand up now? I think there have been better bundles these days, but I don't much care for HL2 personally

I can't find anything about the print error in google. Is it that rare?
I gotta find out if it's worth anything. Some people will pay the most ridiculous price for manufacturing errors.

It was a great bundle when it came out.

I already had all the games so I never bought this, but did every copy have the same picture for Episode 2 as it did TF2?

Not as far as I know. I can't find anything about it on google.

So, anyone got the manual?

They copy pasted the tf2 controls since there is no "use" button in TF2 until the added MvM

What we'll see is probably the beginning of ARG with Team Fortress 2 patch (which is announced to be laughably small for something that they've been working for almost 1.5 year now).

This will lead to reveal of Valve's VR games and their new rumoured VR-for-everyone "cheap" solution which Gabe talked about in an interview with VNN few months ago, "even if headsets were 80% cheaper they still would be too expensive".

Worth noting is that Tyler McVicker from VNN admitted that during his interview with Valve from he was given much more info on the upcoming 3 VR games, but he can't share it before October. And during the latest shitstorm with Epistle 3 he kept on suggesting that this is definitely not the end of Half-Life series.

So something is DEFINITELY coming.

I've been itching to replay HL 1 and 2, hopefully they'll have some kind of sale.

It's gonna be a discount of the original Orange Box games and maybe some cards shit, like they do in Christmas or whatever.
Don't expect much.

>I've been itching to replay HL 1 and 2, hopefully they'll have some kind of sale.

Why you need a sale for that? At this point I think everyboddy owns half life 1 and 2

>And during the latest shitstorm with Epistle 3 he kept on suggesting that this is definitely not the end of Half-Life series.
I will believe it when I see it. At this point, valve's so called """"hints"""" and backdoor interviews haven't gone anywhere. The opposite is happening: each new """"reveal"""" gets even more insulting. And everything about them feels like the guys at valve are laughing their assess off, while everyone else just accepts them.

It's because no one cares dude

>Half-Life 3's original script released.
>Valve says they won't announce new games during Dev Days.
>Instead of Dev Days Valve schedule an one-off presentation for 17-18th October, which suggests they're going to announce new software - and this is the first time this happened, ever.
>Long running rumours about Valve acquiring a "turn-android-into-VR-headset" kickstarter project.
>Reliable source insisting HL3 will release.
>Same source with insider knowledge admits to "keeping a secret" until October.
> VNN released a "leaked" EP3 map pack which was fixed with help of an actual Valve employee, so Valve not only gave it a blessing, but actively helped getting it out there.
>Valve's composer Twitted yesterday that another VR game "reminds him" of a project he had been working on that we will VERY SOON learn about.
>Team Fortress 2 getting a really weird update released exactly on 10th, 10 year anniversary of its original release.

There's simply too many things going on all of sudden for it to be a coincidence.

There have been times during all these years when we again thought that HL3 would be announced, and there was even more evidence to back up that idea. Way more than what you've posted. Yet nothing came of it.
This time is no different. Nothing will be announced. Get over it.

I really want to believe this user, but what valve's been doing over the last years (including their silent approach) is too much for me to be hopeful about at this point.

Welp, of course this doesn't mean that Half-Life 3 will ever see the light of day.

But something will be announced.

Yes, this

>something will be announced
I'll eat my own sock if true

screencap this

Do you really believe Valve would postpone Dev Days and instead schedule a special conference only to announce sale for a 10 year old game?

>special conference
???

...

>Orange Box
>The box is not orange

>posting an edit

17 - 19th, Toronto and Montreal. Low key, but multiple Valve employees are talking about it on Twitter. Supposedly has to do with Steam VR, though.

But it was.

Mine is transparent

must be a reissue

Did everyone forget this happened and ended up having the whole website suspended for a good month?

Valve MIGHT be working on a Half-Life VR project but that's it.

Also about a week ago Valve's Twitter released base64 encoded message saying "riseandshine", but it was removed very quickly.

Which some people considered a beginning of ARG of sorts but apparently it didn't catch on so Valve probably ditched the idea.

it was on PC

Seriously, what the fuck happened to Valve?

South Koreans?
China?
Greed?

>Portal was the only good thing that came out of the orange box
Jesus

I also have a reliable source, his name is Marc Laidlaw

I call bullshit, can't find anything about this

Tyler recently slipped that he's on Valve's payroll, but he's mad that they didn't make him a part of his secret club.

youtube.com/watch?v=poWy-XUO5BM&feature=youtu.be

Which explains why Valve helps him fix up and release the leaked maps. I wouldn't be surprised if they also provided him with "leaks", since they usually appeared out of nowhere and he was the only source.

They were communicating through this dude all the time but we were blind.

>The real Valve died when they fired their most of their talent in February of 2013
That was 2 years after Portal 2, which was a major success. Why did this happen?

Complacency and lack of leadership

HL2 leak.

After that they became too secretive for their own good.

>The Most Complete Half-Life 2 Collection to Date

Reminder that this is what fucked over Vampire the Masquerade

>being silent will lower hacking attempts
>being silent will not make others even more interested what you're working on
What did they mean by this?

What do you mean? What are you refering to?

Well, the silent treatment is either working or they aren't actually working on anything, because we have zero leaks.

they were working on that for a while and scrapped it. there's a fanmade hl2 vr being developed with the scrapped code, and they're doing a way better job with it.

increased model detail, better lighting, and weapons like the revolver have to be reloaded by actually dumping the empty casings out etc

Let it go man, we've been hyped up for years now about new Valve products only to get burned. If somehow Valve actually shows that they do care and knock it out of the park I'll gladly join you, but from what we've seen in recent years it seems like the people there just dont give a shit.

Anyone have the sticky of the Valve announcement, where it turned out to be the Steam Controller?

>or they aren't actually working on anything
user, you're joking right? A new graphics engine, new physics engine, VR headset and a shitton of VR related stuff, steambox, steam controller, constant updates of their most popular games, and we know they are working on 3 new games aswell as porting CS:GO and TF2 on Source 2.

They did more in these last few years than most studios out there combined.

They'll celebrate it with the release of hats

They're working on Artifact and CS:GO/Dota2 skins

Who keeps buying that shit, koreans?

>mfw they released Orange Box on 10th because they knew it's going to take 10 years before we get the next one

>porting TF2 on Source 2.
I'm pretty sure they said they wouldn't do that because it would break the game physics and it would take actual effort to fix it

I do, I still have the receipt. Bought it at october 27 2007 at 11:34.

The box is also in PT-BR huehue

Fuck, man. 10 years, It doesn't feel even half of it. Time goes so fast. I miss vanilla TF2 before the mess that was the heavy update. ;_;

You do realise that Valve isn't the one making the skins right? Also 3 new IP are confirmed, so Artifact (whatever that is) and 2 more.

I think it still is. TF2 + Portal + EP2 (all launch titles) then HL2 + EP1. 5 games for the price of one.

>I'm pretty sure they said they wouldn't do that because it would break the game physics
Of course it will, just like it will break the physics of CS:GO. That's why it's taking so long, and that''s why they made a new physics engine, so they don't have to use Havok anymore.
Also
>they said
Valve has been bullshitting and trolling for ages. They are indie, they don't HAVE TO give updates on what they are doing, they can do whatever the fuck they want.

But he was still close to Valve. Compared to the rest of us he should be happy when he learned more news about Valve than anyone.

Artifact is not a new IP, it's a spinoff.

Why Orange?

>spinoff
You're the reason why Valve doesn't make games anymore

I've got it right here senpai, but for some reason I am unable to play it because the codes are redeemed on my first Steam account which I made like 10 years ago. Shame

What do you mean?
It's based on an already established game. It's is not an original game.

How the fuck is it not an original game? What kind of turbofaggot are you?

So they're making Artifact, aswell as three new IPs. Sup Forums can meme all it wants, I know HL3 is coming soon.

Valve's composer outright said that he was working on a project with full orchestra and we'll probably learn about it THIS UPCOMING WEEK.

Yesterday he also confirmed that we should brace for an announcement very soon.

I really want to believe Valve didn't abandon us.

this one?

IP = Intellectual Property.
Artifact is not a NEW intellectual property, as it carries the already established intellectual properties from DOTA.
Do your homework before posting.

The "valve doesn't make games anymore" meme started because underaged fucks on Sup Forums are used to studios shitting out a game per year and they can't understand that since Valve are indie, they can take as many years as they want to make a game.

No, the actually orange Orange Box. Like this

Except when you don't make a new product in 10 years where you used to release games every few kinda validates the meme.

link? I just tried stock HL2 "beta" VR and it barely worked and was garbage

To add to it, when he ended his presentation he literally counted to three out of nowhere, which is nowhere close to subtle.

Half-Life 3 is coming bitches.

>It's coming DEFINITELY any minute now bros
he said like he always does since release of Portal 2

no, the meme started because the last game they developed and released was CS:GO five years ago after over a decade of releasing games almost every year
