The remake is better in nearly every way, and you cant even make the argument that the remake has worse music considering you can unlock the games original music in game.
All this drama over streamlining the designs of toads and koopas when like 95% of everything else is still intact is nonsense.
The sprites are also incredibly well animated.
Notice how you didn't talk about the gameplay at all reddit-spacer kun?
The game play is practically unchanged, its the same action command turn based game the series has always been. PLus no tutorials.
So then the original reigns supreme. Got it.
>is the original or remake better?
>they are the same
>oh so the original is better, got it
really laughs my out loud

>The sprites are also incredibly well animated.
and they look worse.
I prefer 2D sprites than pseudo 3D 2D sprites.

nice counter argument stupid nigger
Your argument stems from a misrepresentation off of mine.
I dont want to meet the man who thinks the bowser on the right looks better than the left.
Let go of the off model is quirky and charming!" meme, it just looks ugly.
Bowser was a joke character in the game anyway so his tame outer appearance looks fine.
Besides, Bowser is just one sprite out of many. And those "many" are the issue here, since they look awfull
right: about as unique of an art style you can get in mario
left: same generic homogeneous shit we've had in every game since NSMB
>all the remixes have a shitty echo
Remake your post but this time don't type like a fucking idiot.
How is that "unique"? He has fuck all proportions, stop excusing bad art.
Bowser was a joke character in BIS too but his sprite in that game looked way better.
Bowser is a main character in BiS, what the fuck are you on?
Some people keep mentioning the original games' soundtrack being unlockable, and I have two questions about that.
Is the music completely faithful to the GBA renditions? Pokemon HGSS had an option to use the original GBC music, but the soundfont was completely butchered, making the music sound worse in comparison.
How early is it unlocked? Again, going back to Pokemon, the old music tracks are unlocked far too late, by the time you finish the entire game.
>Bowser was a joke character in BIS
From a logical standpoint. Typing like a 'retard' is the only way to get a thread rolling on Sup Forums. Instead of meta-posting can you elaborate on why the gameplay is better in the remake instead?
>soundfont was butchered
Didn't they specifically code in so it was more representative of the original? Do keep in mind that your gameboy wasn't what the original soundtrack was composed on. I don't see what you particularly mean by them butchering it. Care to post some examples? If you're going for the original soundtrack then just play the original game. You should play a remake for remastered songs.
Does the new music have more BAHs in it?
The new one is basically the same as the old one with better visuals and higher quality sound, but if you want you can still use gba music. The whole controversy over the removal of personality is absolutely nothing, as the only things they fixed up were things that looked actually awful, like the old toad sprits, bowsers off model sprite, etc. People complain the new one has too much changed shit, but I feel like they didn’t add enough to make it rewarding to come back to.

HGSS delivered pretty well in other aspects, since they incorporated Hoenn and Sinnoh Pokemon pretty well through swarms, Pokewalker and the radio stations, and included all the updated game mechanics and modes RSE/DPPt introduced. I just didn't like the music all that much.
I haven't played it yet but the Bros Attacks don't look as fun to pull off anymore and it makes me sad. The new OST is a bit disappointing too
>surf's theme
>that out of place note at 8s
Christ. Is the entire soundtrack that bad? Though I do have to say I prefer the high quality sounds of the DS version. The flute (?) or whatever at 35s just sounds better on the HGSS version.
The game really just didn't need to be remade. It was perfect the way it was and held up completely.
I'd say it depends on how you feel about the changes made by the Japanese version
This. If there's one thing they could have fixed is bosses having the same 2-3 exact patterns and dying to a stiff breeze but apparently they couldn't even do that much.
>original has forced tutorials and no speed up button
>"Original is supreme"
So this is the power of nostalgia
t. someone who hasnt played the game
>Trips over a rock and gets crushed by a train
>Forced to eat a carrot, then attacked by the Wiggler that made him eat the carrot
>Fattened up and then falls through the floor
>Immediately after which, Peach is literally pulled out of his ass
Bowser was kind of a joke character in BIS, the only difference is that he's also a main character and not just a plot device like in PiT and SSS.
Emulators have speed-toggle. Which speeds up much more than just the battles.
>forced tutorials
Yeah. I don't really understand what you mean by this. What defines a tutorial?
The fast-forward through talking button is brilliant and it's too bad that we will never see it again.
>emulators
You're ignoring the fact that he paid everyone who shit on him back ten times over. Then he defeated an ancient evil by punching it to death, with mario and luigi simply making sure it stayed down afterwards
I don't care if they're well-animated, they look like absolute trash. What the fuck did they do to Bowser?
>combat system has a guard feature
>hammer heads don't fall off and hurt you if you try to counter the whole time
>can save anywhere, save blocks are pointless
>upon losing a fight, you just restart it as well as having the option of doing it in NU-TENDO® CERTIFIED EASY MODE™
lmao dropped
Emulators have that. Emulators have a fast forward through everything. I'm all for it being included in more modern games though. But why stop at talking? Walking faster, faster animations, instant text, modding. These are all improvements more games should have.
>no argument
I play all my jrpgs on there. I get way more mileage.
everyone says you can play the original music in game but thats only through the music player. i dont think theres an option to have the original music play on the overworld unless you need to collect all the music blocks to do so. in that case whats the fucking point since the game is already over.
how can nu-tendo games even COMPete?
That's the thing: The difference is that Bowser is involved in the plot, unlike the other two games where he's basically there to run whatever plan was happening off the rails. In BIS, he was in a position where he understood what was happening and could pay everyone back unlike SSS where he was amnesic/possessed for most of the game and PiT where he was completely unrelated to what was happening with the Shroobs.
>>combat system has a guard feature
The original has this though? Or am I missing something?
>save blocks are pointless
That's an improvement. It's also completely optional so not quite as pointless as you make it out to be.
>>upon losing a fight, you just restart it
You're not giving the option to quit/continue? Either way you can soft-reset manually but I do agree that should be more optional than forcing a reset.
Anyway. Sometimes you just don't want to reset 4 hours of progress because you triggered a certain skeleton riding a horse.
This, Bowser was goofy yet pretty badass in that game. He got far FAR better treatment in that game then Superstar Saga and Partners in Time for sure.
>Emulators have that. Emulators have a fast forward through everything.
Oh I'm well aware of it. It's about the only way I can get through replaying Pokemon without falling asleep. It's also the one thing Gamefreak needs to add but never will, especially since they're going for a more wall-of-text approach for the newer games.
>The original has this though? Or am I missing something?
He's talking about the Guarding feature Paper Jam added, you can block attacks and take half the damage now if you're not feeling confident about totally dodging them.
>The original has this though? Or am I missing something?
It doesn't.
>That's an improvement. It's also completely optional so not quite as pointless as you make it out to be.
The point of saves is to serve as checkpoints. If you can save literally everywhere where's the risk? Note I'm not against the concept of quick-saving or whatever where you can save at the point you are at and then when you restore that point that save gets deleted, just saving everywhere with zero penalty in general.
At this point, save blocks basically function as "Hey, there's a boss/important event coming up, you might wanna save" indicators.
Didn't Dream Team keep them despite introducing the save anywhere thing?
>tfw instant text cheats
>tfw instant heal cheats on button combination to cut back on travelling time
>tfw faster animations/walking speed
>tfw increased resolution
>tfw mods that increase difficulty
>tfw randomizers and nuzlockes
>tfw removal of HM mechanics cheat so you don't need a HM slave on your team in gen 4
>tfw being able to go the yuri route in BW2 because you can modify gender with a cheat/sprite replacement
Is there any game that benefited as much from emulators as Pokemon? I could only get through SM because I had stuff to watch on the side. Really dreading having to do the same thing in USUM
>they serve as checkpoints
correct me if I'm wrong but if they still show up on the overworld then you can still use them as checkpoints no? It's just an option given to the player to challenge himself. I'm not saying that casualization is a good thing. Just that if it's optional it's not really as much of a detriment.
Even his voice is different. He goes from some goofy sounding grunts to
>MARIOO!
>GOOOOOOOO!
>GAHAAHAHA!
That's because Super Mario Galaxy came out and Kenny James as Bowser became the standard.
Before then, it was Scott Burns as Bowser for most of the Gamecube Era starting from Sunshine.
It's a very pointless remake that has no reason to exists, other than adding a $39.99 trivial mini game that's only fun for about five minutes.
yet nintendo kids will still defend it.
>tfw mod that makes every pokemon a cute anime girl
The models look like plastic, and some of the animations are janky
>turning cute animals and monsters into anime girls because you're a horny fucking weeb
disgusting
>models
*sprites
I thought that was its own game?
>not turning cute animals and monsters into anime girls because you're not a horny fucking weeb
Yes. I as hesitant to call it sprites, because I figured it was a step up compared to the original sprites, sorta 3D-ish, but not really.
delete yourself.
Ok. I thought you were one of those people who seriously thinks they're models.
Gameplay wise, yes the remake is better.
They made some small changes and changed some attack patterns.
To be fair about the boss fights, every one has a save block right before it, so what's the difference between starting the fight over right away and staring at the save block, while having to read all the text again?
Anyone still have their original cartridge?
I unironically hope that they remake PiT next, since it was my favorite Mario and Luigi game.
It applies to all fights, not just bosses
>Losing fights with zero consequence is good
>Bethesda saving anywhere is good
>can save anywhere,
It's a portable game. What the fuck did you expect?
Did the original game have the color cues for Bros. Attacks?
quick save
Yes
Yes
only when you did the easy versions of them that used more BP.
The original was a good game, so this one is good too. I was just disappointed that it didn't even try to fix the flaws of the original, so it's a completely pointless remake. It's like they wanted to make a new M&L but were so creatively bankrupt that they simply blindly copied the first one with no passion
So the remake makes them easier by adding the cues to the normal versions of the attacks?
>H-h-he p-p-pressed enter t-t-twice!!!!
I wonder what non-argument Sup Forums will move on to next.
But there's an argument you conveniently ignore within the post you shit on while conveniently not providing an argument on your own
I do, I might replay it soon
I honestly don't give 2 shits about SSS being remade
Im buying the game because they clearly put effort and emphasis on the Bowser's Minions mode
The fact that fucking Boss theme to BM sounds better than the actual remake boss theme shows Yoko had her priorities elsewhere
Sounds too nu-M&L
Not that guy, but if your argument was so strong why did you have to tack on "reddit spacing"?
You're right, he didn't bring up gameplay, which as I understand it is completely unchanged. He brought up what people were freaking out about and you sperged out over an additional enter press.
Holy shit Yoko what the FUCK
There's nothing wrong with the format. it fits the series pretty well, with DT still being the best so far
>nu-M&L
Fuck off
no wait, my mistake, yes it always had color cues at normal levels of the attack. It literally will tell you what button to press on the easy versions, thats what i mixed up.
I brought it up because I noticed it. I only criticized him not bringing up gameplay because that's what I asked for.
Gameplay is unchanged.
Happy?
So then the original is better. Got it. (Hell, even I know the gameplay HAS changed) so you're just spouting blatant falsehoods. Only further proving reddit spacers are the worst
The Gameplay is changed, but barely.
This version also has the Japanese version as it's basis (which changed/balanced some stuff).
Right: Mario
Left: Mario Boom
Getting mixed massages here
There's nothing wrong with sonic boom from a character design perspective.
I'm surprised that Sup Forums actually likes this remake, considering how it holds your hand so much throughout (not saying that I hate it, though).
I liked the remakes bros attacks.
But it has soo much uneeded stuff.
>Cuts all the tutorials out
>Claims it holds your hand more
What
Your being baited my dude. You'll only see people argue with you on Sup Forums and they only use buzzwords. Take a step back and just join in the shitposting. It's all the sites good for.
I'm the first reply and a different one.
The gameplay is different in that it's not exactly the same but, as I mentioned, it's slightly different.
Yes. I started a replay of it, and the remake at the same time and went through them simultaneously to see the differences.
>considering you can unlock the games original music in game
which you can't swap out
i've seen you spout this bullshit in previous threads and conveniently ignore people pointing this out
They made him look like Bowser and not some hideous blobfish
Tragic, I know.
>Sup Forums is one guy
I've seen way more negative opinions on it than positive
You mean you don't like MIDIs with a bunch of reverb, user? Wow what a nostalgiafag
