Yeah, that's what I meant. Don't know why I called it that but I think it looks pretty fun and a unique take on the shooter genre.

Graphically I guess you're right but the artstyle inspired by Mexican art and day of the dead is cool.
I don't really like the combat. It's a shame cause I was hoping it'd be moer like classic ff games, but the break system is just kind of... Well, I hope it's just cause of the demo balancing. Obviously spears had no upgrades, but the longsword was literally more efficient to use on the boss in olberic's story after you broke him. You'd do 3-4 times as much damage.

No, I just think that it's not going to allow for too much freedom in the combat later in the game. There's not going to by any big superboss without a weakness, so by definition you'll be looking to kit your party with a team full of people who shit out his weakness to break him.
Unless they go the "99 shield" route and just defeat the entire mechanic's existence. Again, it's a beta (potentially even an actual beta and not just a demo) so they might change things up.

Has nothing to do with interesting, but half of the fun of the ff games is the superbosses and other postgame content. It's going to be significantly harder to allow it to exist in octopath. I could care less if they're just stat buffed enemies, but when that stat buff almost HAS to include a shield level so ridiculous it defeats the purpose of the mechanic entirely, it makes me question how the game is going to work earlier on. Even in the demo the citizen with 6 shield was just an exercise in spamming items.
I agree with you. PaD has some great late-game bosses.

no it doesn't. Is has nothing interesting in it at all, as it's entirely based around paying money to get better stats.

I can tell you haven't played it. The game has great late-game content and is not at all out to get you to pay for better content. The current lategame meta revolves around getting a monster you can only buy with in-game credits called monster points, which in turn you can't obtain with real currency. The money is made through getting completionists to buy waifus through collabs. The game itself is extremely in-depth. And while I'm not denying its IAP nature. It's not there to get you to buy things. I don't know about the Jap version but the American version is lenient to newcomers and unless you want to get all the monsters (which is a rather tedious task) you don't need to expend a single dime to get fight any of the post-game bosses. It's pure skill and strategy alone.
