Space battles were exciting as fuck though I felt the Empire was overpowered at times. The battlefield gameplay was boring as shit, id only be buying it for the space battles and story so I dont think its worth the full price. Overall, an immense improvement over the first game but nothing spectacular
Pretty much this. Ground battles were hot garbage. Not worth full price. Also lootboxes are shit.
Best p2w beta i ever played.
The map was shit but otherwise there's been decent improvements such as the classes and the hero/vehicle reworks.
Too bad it's all gonna be ruined by the horrendous lootboxes and star cards.
>graphics were generally downgraded with the exception of some nice reflection effects - generally a more blurry mess than the very clean first game
>ground battles are improved by classes but otherwise are exactly the same
>combat is exactly the same
>better hero system and generally rewarding better players/playing the objective
>space combat was again more of the same, but with a few tweaks and improvements that make it quite exceptional and the best mode for me
>still only spawn as vehicles/ships, this sucks for space battles as there is no boarding/fighting enemy ships
>amount of content still seems fairly limited given the size of the maps
>can't even have 32 man battles, let alone 64
>seems to be more options for offline play/AI but can't tell yet from beta
6/10 ground battles, 7/10 space battles. Worth buying at about 75% of launch price but lootboxes drag everything down to make it only worth buying on a largely discounted sale.
Nice impressions user, thanks.
No worries. Graphics wise it may look great on other maps/environments but that's obviously yet to be seen. I personally want to buy it but I've really been put off buy the P2W aspects. I wouldn't care for lootboxes if they were cosmetic only but even then it would be scummy for a full priced game.
I expected boxes to have cosmetics and it turns out there is zero character customization and only game changing shit that gives you a straight up advantage on people.
Shit gunplay, couldn't get the hang of starfighter controls with mouse and keyboard.
It was pretty once I unfucked the graphics settings (TAA, the fuck EA?) and ran well enough but it's not a game I'll be buying.
bored after a couple hours
For me with M+K 3rd person flying was easy but 1st person was a nightmare because of how it tries to correct/align
beta was lit as af, fuck angry jose
Its already Wednesday?
It doesnt end til 7PM EST on Wednesday
Pretty much this. I played it on xbone because I’m a big fag, so actually the graphics look like they’ve improved. The lack of customization sucks but I can understand it since it’s not really a noticeable thing in the grand scheme of things
I played 12 hours of it,
twas alright.
also as some user said in another thread
Season Pass > Loot Boxes.
>Space battles were exciting as fuck though I felt the Empire was overpowered at times.
All you have to do is play as bombers. Y-Wings tear up the cruisers and the shield generators.
Though in almost every game, it felt like I was the only one playing the objective.
That said, the space battles were the shit, and by far the best part of the game. Galactic Conquest was ok, but the Theed map was absolute garbage and the objectives were stupid. It would've been 100 times better if it was capture points.
Strike sucks.
Overall, I'd give it a good 7/10. I'll probably pick it up when it goes on sale after Christmas, like BF1.
The beta has left a really bad impression on me. The only thing I can say is that it looks nice.
How does old Battlefront 2 hold up? I never got to play it online as a kid and with the revival I want to check it out when I get home.
Reminder to not reply to trolls defending season pass cancer
I play the original Battlefront 2 instead / 10

Hello fellow anonymous, I too agree the beta was lit. I pre-ordered Star Wars Battlefront II after I played a ton and had fun!
Hi John
Worst shooter I've played in years, Battlefront 1 had SOME positives and benefit of the doubt since it was the first one (of EA BF that is). This game has nothing going for it. They took every single aspect and made it shittier, and based on how bad it is, I wouldn't be surprised if it was on purpose.
>Poor balance
>By far the worst maps ever created in a shooter backed by worse spawns and a terrible spawn system
>Downgraded visuals and audio
>Pay to Win tier crate system confirmed
>AWFUL classes where 3/4 are VERY VERY situational in their objective
>The worst variation of rush ever created, I'm fine with people being retarded by liking this shittt game, fine. I'll enjoy your buyers remorse threads, but saying you liked this game mode on this map outs you as a moron who should be barred from opening it's mouth in public. Fucking terrible.
>etc
If this game survives a week, let alone a month, I'll be shocked. DICE showing the world once again they aren't capable of making good games anymore.
It honestly wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be but there are some really dumb decisions.
>only ground vehicles are aat and clone walker no transport vehicles for dropping troops off
>laat is fucking retarded and you can't aim for shit because it's on rails even then it's useless
>the heroes can stay for a whole match depending on player skill so it's broken as fuck
>space vehicles are useless on theed because they move too damn fast and the mtt has a damage cap when it's vulnerable
>loot crates to cover their no dlc plan
Hope singleplayer is good and instant action is on release because I can deal with not having galactic conquest but it's pretty bullshit.
I meant like, gameplay wise.
I might honestly buy this game solely for Starfighter Assault.
It's so goddamn good.
But only if I can use the Naboo Starfighter in that mode.
The new one is by far more linear and repetitive than the old one. The way nubattlefront plays, which is objective based, locks you into only certain parts of the map. The old one was more chaotic and fun and felt like the movie battles. You could also go anywhere around the maps because it had conquest mode similar to battlefield. There were also other modes too.
Why would the N1 Starfighter be in Kamino or Ryloth?
I actually liked it a lot. The space combat was fun and the Theed map felt pretty cool. I know there are issues, but I want a large-scale scifi shooter, so it's my only choice.
>I meant like, gameplay wise.
It's super laggy with everyone rubberbanding all over the place. The netcode is positively ancient and was probably bad for its time even then.
Otherwise the gameplay is way more fun that EAfront.
Time to kill is way higher than EAfront, especially since most weapons are a bit random with their spread and you can roll all the time to avoid getting hit by rockets and snipers.
Maps are also a bit more fun to play. If your team gets stuck in one place, you can just try to sneak around them with jetpacks or something and capture something else to break the stalemate.
Shallow P2W garbage.
Only played the beta for a few hours. Missed out on space combat. I heard Criterion developed that. Now I know I missed out.
>how it tries to correct/align
what? Ive barely touched the ships what does it do?
If at any point I'm not pulling my mouse for a turn it seems to realign/straighten up the ship for the crosshair instead of remaining on course until I pull back to centre it. I hope I've explained it alright because I'm not sure how else to word that. It means you're constantly pulling away back and forth rather than it being smooth movements as it is fighting back against you in the neutral position instead of being neutral
the at-rt is god, nothing can stop you as long as you aren't retarded
>Have to install origin
>Cant choose your team because matchmaking
>Cant choose your spawn point
>Cant enter vehicles and drive/fly with your friends in the gunner seat or whatever
>Cant even leave vehicles
>You actually are the vehicle
>Cant choose your spawn point
>No Health or Ammo droids to maintain
>No Droidekas
>No sidearms
>No map
>No galactic conquest
>No conquest
>Timelines are muddled, Han and Rey on Naboo with clones vs droids, Darth Maul's ship with X-Wings and TIE Fighters flying around
>Cant see your ping
>Cant see your kdr or anyone elses
>Not even a server browser
>Are there even dedicated servers?
>Even the 'vehicles' repair themselves
>Unlimited Ammo
>Pay-to-grind-less crates for advantageous ingame powerups/items ONTOP OF EXISTING FULL PRICE PAYWALL
>Have to install origin
>No Droidekas
Arcade machine of the year confirmed. Game is trash. I didn't think it was possible to regress this fucking much from GOTYAY Battlefront 2 in 2005. To think I was actually looking forward to this heaping pile of shit. Fuck everything, video games are dead. Anyone who praises this shit is either a shill, mentally retarded, or underage.
Nice looking shitty , full priced freemium garbage. Everything is too fucking expensive so walkers, wookies and supers are late game. Also where the fuck are the Commandos and droidekas?
I think you can turn that off in the options.
Graphics are good, but the gameplay still kinda sucks
I'll have a look this evening if the beta is still going
There's an advanced flight option to turn off the auto correction.
but the main issue with the flight controls is the fact that you can't fix your crosshair in the middle of the screen, and control the entire ship manually, instead of having it follow the crosshair automatically. You can't even rebind the MOUSE X rudder mechanic to A and D, and vice versa. It forces you to use a mouse bind, or a controller. Fucking garbage arcade game dude.
Have you played it with a flightstick? I'm interested to know if its actually supported at all well or if they just assumed no one on earth uses anything but a controller
I haven't attempted to fly with a joystick, but the controller DOES fix the crosshair in the middle, and controls the ship directly. So you can probably emulate that with a joystick (bind throttle to emulate y left thumb y axis, and the stick itself to the right thumb x and y)
This shit should basically just be supported natively, though. I fucking hate consoles so much
What's the best reinforcement class and why is it the B2 Super Battle Droid?
im not sure how you'd emulate the rudder though, seeing as it wont let you use a keyboard bind, lol.
The game is basic, but I'm OK with that. Ability customization on the fly is really great, since I shift based on which objective we are at. Enjoyed both 40 and 16 man modes, both were fun in their own way.
Vehicles being a power-up is weird, but not as weird as I thought it would be. If points were just for Heroes, it would be kinda stupid, so they had to fill it with something. Space combat was really boring though, was expecting it split into a space phase and a "ground" phase. Being 100% space is boring when there is no real sense of dogfighting.
I was super close to buying at launch until I realized how the ability cards worked. Loot box cosmetics is whatever, loot box abilities is fucking insane, they will get away with it because so many people will buy the game and are retarded enough to buy the boxes.
Why don't Supers feel super in this freemium game?
I'm really tempted to buy a joystick and the game just for the space combat but it just feels like too much of a risk
>ignoring crafting system bullshit
>ignoring RNG bullshit with loot boxes
>ignoring loot boxes existing at all
The game is weaker than its predecessor.
>Everything is too fucking expensive so walkers, wookies and supers are late game
Play the objectives then. In the 20v20 you can get 500 for each Ion Blaster shot. It is pretty easy to get enough for most things at midway point of P1/start of P2 if you are playing correctly.
To me they feel like an Assault on steroids, which I guess is pretty much what the B2s are. My only real gripe with them is that the wrist rocket takes too long to prepare compared to a grenade and in most situations it's better just to pop the blaster ability and blaze away than try and use the rocket.
Hmmm yes I imagine it would be hard to see that point if you didn't read my post
Yeah I wouldn't do it. There's no sense of scale, it's basically just the same as arcade war thunder but without the G-force mechanics and gravity.
WATCH THOSE
jetpack units are fucking broken but oh so satisfying
>Always shoot at the MTT when its disabled by an Ion shot for free 600+ points
>Without fail some nearby teammate just starts shooting at it while its shielded
Its absolutely incredible how dumb people can be
Post yfw when you unlock Maul/Fett and the game immediately ends two seconds after your spawn.
>that feel when the range on Rey's mind trick is ridiculous
a.pomf.cat
Meh...fun i guess? Not worth the full price imo.
Am I just bad at this game or are the costs too high? That happens to me too
The wrist rockets never fucking work like this for me. It needs to be dead center hit to kill a heavy. Is the blast radius shit or were thry close enough to the kill point?
Play as Commander/Officer. You gain a shit ton of points for doing almost nothing but running with your squad. Literally also was wracking up a metric fuck ton of kills and points once I got the burst fire mode on the Specialist long-blaster easily.
>one burst including head hit
>insta dead
Fucking heavies are fucked even with their shields. Best game I had was a 15 kill street before I died then unlocking Fett and just blowing shit up. But I am serously disgressing here, you make a fuck ton of points as an officer.
>that feel when Heavies never think to crouch to cover their legs
EA and Disney have developed one of the most anti-consumer games we have seen hit markets. Basically the game requires to to purchase loot boxes with real dollars to beat it. Reviews should be reflecting this and giving Star Wars Battlefront 2 an automatic sub 50% rating.
You need to grind an obscene amount of time if you don't buy loot boxes. That is garbage. There is no defense. This is anti-consumer and unfun. What most people overlook when taking the "you can just ignore it" route with loot boxes and microtransactions in general is that games will begin to get DESIGNED so they facilitate loot boxes. After all, they don't care if you have to grind for X hours just to be on the same level.
Ah so that's what I was doing wrong. I was mostly playing heavy, but when I played Officer I was focusing on getting good turret placements near objectives (which my team were never going for)
>can't go first person
>keep shooting my cover instead of an enemy
I am upsets
I wonder if that bullshit will impact the singleplayer campaign/story as well.
Yep. Also tripmines are awesome for ruining someone's day.
I would put sentry turrets in fucking middle of nowhere often and I wouldn't get a lot of kills but the points from the assists were insane too.
Thanks Blizzard.
>Reviews should be reflecting this
Yeah good luck with that. If any of them give it less than 75-80 EA would threaten to never give them review copies etc again.
>Darth Maul enters the game
>Droids win
Every time
Blizzard copied Valve you underage gremlin
And Blizzard made it popular. Valve's system is far superior because you can sell shit you don't want or trade it.
Leave Darth Maul to me
Besides the space battles, very unremarkable.
It didn't kill the heavy there and was no more than a foot away from the other units. Still, the drop-off is huge because any further and you probably wouldn't do any damage at all.
>get mind-tricked while trying to shoot a wrist-rocket
>stumble into a wall
>kill myself with my own rocket
It's surprising how much that thing can fuck you up.
*dashes behind you*
>No map
darn
Pretty great desu
This thing wins the clone side every time at the doorway choke point. When full health just rush over and step on all the seppies.
>all these shills
Stop trying to sell your shitty pay to win lootbox simulator here.
fuck off
>most comments are calling out p2w and lootboxes
>even most praise for the game is followed by "but" then p2w and lootboxes
S-SHILLS!!!11!
>Play the BF2 beta for a few hours
>Gets me pretty hungry for the original BF2, go play that in the classic BF2 threads
>Slowly realise that there's actually very little differences between the two games in terms of skill in gunplay - as in there is none
>Both games are run and gun shitfests with no real regard for skill, just aim at things until you or they die, respawn and repeat
>Only real measure of skill in both BF2s exist in spacefights exclusively
>tfw I'm probably going to be preordering BF2 now
Hopefully this game doesn't die in two weeks after release like the first one, but I won't hold my breath.
>Hopefully this game doesn't die in two weeks after release like the first one, but I won't hold my breath.
LOL. My sister preordered Battlefront 1 and the game died so she sold it because the game died already. She was absolutely furious.
Meh, game's better than the first gameplay-wise, but just about everything else is worse.
Graphics are worse, performance is worse (went from playing the first game at 4k50-60 on high to playing this game at 1800p50-60 on high), audio is about the same, DLC system is somehow even worse, etc. etc.
Also, a lot of the people playing are complete pussies that refuse to push the objective or morons that don't know how to focus a hero, to the point where you can utterly destroy everyone if you get Maul.
I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point, but why in the fuck did they think these cards were in any way a good idea? I can handle being shit at picking engagements or not knowing the layout of a map, but I absolutely despise multiplayer games where I'm literally fighting at a disadvantage that isn't because of skill.
>High-tier starfighter card more than doubles the time it takes for a missile lock.
>High-tier starfighter card drastically reduces time it takes for your health to regen.
>High-tier assault card nearly gives you a third of your health back (+40 health out of 150) on a kill.
And that's only the tip of the iceberg.
There isn't a doubt in my mind what little balance there is will get royally fucked in favor of whoever's got the great cards first.
The original Battlefront 2 is one of the most overrated games of all time.
Never understood the praise for the original BF2. I loved it, but it aged like milk. The concepts are great, it's much more open in terms of gameplay, but it isn't really feasible when actually trying to play the game. Driving an AT-AT is cool as shit but it just isn't great when you're actually trying to play, not to mention it's weak as shit against the snow speeders. Playing as Jawas and Ewoks however, is amazing and I wish the new game let you do that.
The lootboxes are the only thing holding me back.
I don't like the boxes but I've enjoyed space, the shooting is fine, and of course it's very pretty. Looking forward to what will be in the full game but I'm also interested in seeing how they address this lootbox controversy, if at all.
How was the Empire overpowered? Not doubting you it just felt kinda even to me, though I think the Tie Interceptor could use a little work. Ywing best ship by far though and I wish they would replace Maul with a fucking Tie Defender or some shit
>mfw I get to play as Boba Fett for more than a couple of seconds and without dying to some BS
It plays better than the first nufront but i was much more impressed with the visuals and sfx of the first game.
Hoth, Tatooine and Endor still look godly in swbf1.
Same reason Darth Maul is fighting for the Empire I guess
I never played the multiplayer (and I still can't get into matches now) so I don't know about how it was online but I really enjoy the single player content, and playing with my brother through the matches was great too.
Yeah, i was in match with you a couple of times and seem a couple of questionable moves
Yeah I loved the starfighter mode too. Reminded me of Rogue Squadron though obviously less focused. Can't wait to play other maps.
Multiplayer is fun but it's a huge clusterfuck. It only sucks when you're actually trying to play, things like the Droideka's become unviable. Although I may just be bad at them.
Too much Jewing.
Maul absolutely destroys everyone, he's so much more powerful than Rey.
Just spam his spin attack, dodge immediately after (which counts as another attack for some reason, but only directly after a spin), and slash with your saber once and you'll destroy entire groups of enemies.
That and the lightsaber throw that does a ton of damage make him borderline broken.
Toss the force throw on top for dealing with other heroes and he's pretty much unstoppable if the enemy team doesn't have at least 5 players with shock nades or abilities.
how come the old looks better
>tfw trying to dogfight with keyboard & mouse
fucking impossible
What controller should I buy to be able to actually do this shit?
