The thing is that it's only the super version that has the extra 5% resistance, the card is normally only about duration. A lost of cards gain an extra effect only at the legendary level

Now shit like Titanfall 2's store is COMPLETELY acceptable. The overwhelming majority of content is in the game itself. The only shit you can buy is skins for guns / titans and executions. It's when you hide almost all cosmetic items or unlockables behind pay walls or an ungodly grind that it becomes an issue, and that's the point we've hit on most AAA titles coming out. They treat it like it's a F2P game even though you're shelling out $60 or more, and that's beyond bullshit

Other full-priced retail games like the new Forza have paid DLC AND loot boxes, and it's becoming increasingly common. I don't know about Battlefront one way or the other, but it being an EA game, I would expect maximum jewery.

You are right, but the downside to the "vote with your wallet" strategy is that people who are willing to pay more money wind up with more votes. Even if 95% of people hate loot boxes, that last 5% is paying enough money on them to make it still worthwhile for developers.

There are plenty of studies going back decades that have found that people who get normalized to gambling when they are children have a lot of problems in their lives. I don't normally like a "think of the children" argument, but this might be the first time I think such an argument might actually be well founded.

Several of these games are available to small children and teens. It was considered scummy when f2p Korean MMOs did this, but now full price games with season passes and cosmetic doc are doing it, arguably even more aggressively than some of those f2p games did.
