The reason people don't get it is that FFVII was, to some degree, him getting over most of the shit you listed.

Its reasonable there would be some after effects, and that Aetiths death hit him hard once the threat of Sephiroth/Jenova/Meteor was gone, but Advent Children didn't put in enough story to explain any of that. And it didn't really show him grappling with his own mortality (or Denzel's, really).

There was a bit of that in On The Way To A Smile, but those were never fucking translated officially and they aren't part of the movie.

Advent Children could be decent if it incorporated the story of the novellas and the OVA. But it doesn't. It has a few huge meaningless cool looking fights, and it's a bad movie.

By the end of AC:C Cloud fixed himself thanks to Tifa, Vincent, and Marlene and has surpassed Zack in combat prowess. Hell he fucking beat Sephiroth after fighting the other clones.
